周士心教授懷念故友黃慶德 我在香港度過可貴的青年時期，在兵荒馬亂中，幸好我能找到一個安定和平靜 的環境在藝術上以努力得到些許成就。黃慶德同學也有同樣的經歷。 因我曾擔任過香港中國美術會的副會長，以及任教於新亞書院藝術系的關係， 有機會得識各方對藝術有興趣和具有天才的畫家，而黃同學就是其中一位佼佼者。 記得這位同學熱愛藝術，寫得一手好毛 筆字，是一位追求西方現代藝術的畫 家，以素描和抽象油畫為主，具有獨特 的風格。我是傳統中國書畫家，因此對 他的藝術思想影響不大。但當時新亞書 院內有一些教授，好像丁衍庸等便與他 有密切的交流。 在香港黃同學是一問著名的上海菜 館的老板，而我也是座上客。後來因我 70年代移民去了美國，便與黃同學失了 聯絡。但人生是奇妙的，80年代我又移 居加拿大溫哥華，而不久黃同學也移民到同一城市，我們也見面了幾次。黃先生是 一位低調的人，也是一位虔誠的基督徒，不重名利，畫畫是一種興趣，所以雖然畫 藝高超，但在生時好像沒有在溫哥華辦過畫展。不過他是開心的，晚年享受兒孫之 福，無報酬地從事福音事工， 值得我們敬佩。 黃同學在藝術上的成就，在以往的展覽中已表露無遺，幸運的是他有兩位好兒 子，黃健生與黃家聲先生。他們不僅保存了先人優秀的作品，還在數年前舉辦了黃 同學作品義賣活動，籌款捐奉了所屬福音機構，也推廣了黃同學在藝術上的成就。 這次在國際畫廊舉辦的「黃慶德藝術成就紀念展」我們又有機會仔細地去欣賞黃同 學的佳作了。他的藝術當留得永久，他的生命亦將永垂不休。

Missing an Old Friend, Sazer Wong
I spent my youth growing up in Hong Kong amidst turmoil and chaos during the war (WWII). However, I was blessed with a stable and calm environment away from distraction to work and gain achievement in art over the years. Mr. Sazer Wong also has had the same notoriety. As the vice president of the Hong Kong Chinese Art Association and a professor in the Art Department of New Asia College, I have the opportunity to be amongst many talented artists and one of those very outstanding artists was Mr. Wong himself. I remember his love for art and how precise his brush stroke was. He was a painter who pursued Western modern art and focused on sketches and abstract oil paintings as his unique style. I am a traditional Chinese calligrapher and painter, so I had little influence on his style, but there were some professors in New Asia College at that time; some being Professor Yanyong Ding and others who had close communication with him. In Hong Kong, Mr. Wong was an owner of a famous Shanghai restaurant and I had the honor of being a guest occassionally. Later, because I had immigrated to the United States in the 1970s, I lost contact with Mr. Wong. But life is amazing, because when I moved again to Vancouver, Canada in the 1980s, soon after, Mr. Wong also immigrated to the same city. We were able to meet several times. Mr. Wong was a low-key person and a devout Christian, so he did not value fame nor wealth. Painting was only his hobby; so although his art is superb, he did not seem to have held an art exhibition in Vancouver when he was alive. However, he was happy, enjoying the blessings of his children and grandchildren in his later years, and engaging in gospel ministry without remuneration is worthy of our admiration. Wong’s artistic achievements have been fully displayed in previous exhibitions. Fortunately, his two sons, Colin and Victor preserved their father’s excellent work. A few years ago, they held a charity sale for Wong’s work with the fundraising donated to several evangelical organization. This time, the “Sazer Wong Art Achievement Memorial Exhibition” will be held at the International Gallery. We have yet another chance to appreciate Wong’s masterpiece. His art should be kept forever, and his memory will live on.
