Facing Life’s Different Moments
two verses upon which I want us to focus our atten tion just now are verse 10 and 12.
By Bro. Bill BeasleyIn verse 10 we read “The length of our days is seventy years - or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away. In verse 12 we are en couraged to pray “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
God has been faithful and His grace has been suffi cient.
Many of you are facing dif ficult times in this very mo ment.
Paul shares in his writing some of the difficulties he faced. He mentions: impris onment, shipwrecks, beat ings and the thorn in the flesh. But then he declares that God’s grace is sufficient.

Hebrews 10:25 (KJV) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

On this December 28, I will observe my 92nd birthday, God permitting. My life, to me, has been and is a won derful gift from God. The ex periences have been varied. There have been moments of difficulties as well as times of joy. Some of the dark mo ments have been sorrows, job changes, illness both family and personal, combat duty in WWII, prisoner of war time, etc. My testimony is
In Psalms 46:1, God is pre sented as our refuge and strength. He is a very pres ent help in time of trouble. In time of difficulties let us:
1. Take our needs to the King of Kings. His palace door is always open; we are welcomed.
2. Bend our knees to Him in prayer. He will bend His ear to hear.
3. God will renew our strength and we will have the joy of becoming an over comer.
Turning From The Truth
By Mike Dickison (Minister of the Ivanhoe Church of Christ)

People turn from the truth by following profane rhetoric. Paul told Timothy, “O Timo thy, keep that which is com mitted to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called” (1 Timothy 6:20).
Peter describes those that turn away from truth, “For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered
Hello everyone!
We had a wonderful service and time of fellowship in God’s house Sunday morning!
unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire” (2 Pe ter 2:21-22). Sadly enough, Paul said that “some are al ready turned aside after Satan” (1 Timothy 5:15).
We must turn TO the truth. We are told not to refuse God who speaks from heaven. The Hebrew write penned these words, “See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that spea keth from heaven” (Hebrews 12:25). We must turn to God and His word. To the Thessa lonians, Paul wrote, “For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God” (1 Thes salonians 1:9).

In Colossians 3:17, the apostle Paul writes, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

Romans 12:18
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Every good thing that happens to us, as well as every blessing we receive, comes from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Oftentimes we fail to stop and thank Him for all that He has done for us. This is a very dangerous thing. We ought to take the time every day to thank the Lord for the blessings that He has bestowed upon us.
“Wandering afar from the dwellings of men, Hear the sad cry of the lepers, the ten; Jesus have mercy! brings healing divine, One came to worship, but where are the nine?”
“Loudly the stranger sang praise to the Lord, Knowing the cure had been wrought by His word, Gratefully owning the Healer divine; Jesus says tenderly, Where are the nine?”

Romans 12:18 recognizes that while we can’t control everything, we should try our best to seek peace. For instance, you can’t control someone else’s anger or vitriol, but you can control yourself.

Where are the nine? Were there not ten cleansed?
I thank God for my salvation, my family, my church family, the people that I work with, and the privilege to serve Him in our church, just to name a few things.
Where are the nine?”

Norman Young and Maryk Ashley Wilson, along with dozens of other volunteers, braved a cold, Saturday morn ing to work at Spirit of Giving at the Presbyterian Church. A special thanks goes to Norman for not only supplying items to donate, but for setting up tables and carrying other do nated items to the church park ing lot. Also special thanks to Kathy and Joe Moss and Kay and John Burnett for their do nations to this event, and to Michael Evans for providing
the tables.
Recipients were lined up at 7:30 A,M. for the program which started at 10:00 A.M. Five tickets were given to each person attending, regardless of age.
There were also tickets for hot dogs. Special tickets for new bicycles were given out. There were over 100 new bicy cles given away. Many happy children’s faces were seen rid ing their new bikes.
One organization gave away blankets which seemed to be
the most popular spot at the event.
There was everything that one could imagine being given away.
Mary-k gift wrapped a spe cial monetary gift which she said would be offered to the child with the nicest manners. One young lad had chosen a calculator which had been do nated by Norman. The lad was saying “please” and “thank you” to Norman. Mary-k then called the lad over and showed him the gift-wrapped package and told him it was a special Christmas surprise gift. The
lad asked Norman if he could give back the calculator as he had only one ticket. When Norman told him that he could do that, he took the surprise box. Later he came back with another ticket and got the cal culator. He still had the giftwrapped box with him. He was in for a pleasant surprise.
The Presbyterian Church hopes to continue this event and call it a Community Christmas Party. It was heart warming to see so many volun teers there and specially to see the number of recipients, both adults and children, on such a cold, Saturday morning.
Press Release - The Fannin County Children’s Center is currently seeking donations for their annual Christmas Drive. Last year, generous do nors made it possible for 315 children and youth served by the center to get presents of clothing, coats, shoes, toys and other gifts. Organizers expect to serve a similar number of children this year.
Some of the children helped by this project are living in foster homes, away from fam ily and friends. Other children have gone to live with grand parents or other relatives as a result of abuse or neglect. Many of these families struggle financially when one or more children suddenly come to live with them. In other families, the discovery of sexual abuse in the home has meant the loss of family income when the of fender leaves.
Donations of cash, toys, new coats, new hoodies, shoes and other items are now being ac cepted.
Teddy bear trees, which con tain wishes or needs are going up at several local businesses
including: Brook shire’s, Blessings & Butterflies, Bonham Chrysler, CapTex Bank (Bon ham & Trenton), Farm N Home Ca sualty, First United Bank (Bonham & Leonard), Legend Bank, Stay Grounded Coffee Company, Tax-Asses sor Collector’s Office (Tag Office), Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, and WalMart
For donors who are short on time, the center also accepts cash donations which will be used to purchase gifts for the children. The center also has an Amazon Wish List: https://a.co/fTwO7Kb
Donations can be brought or mailed to the center at 112 West Fifth Street, Bonham,
Texas 75418.
The cen ter is open 8 am to 5 pm, Mon day – Fri day, with extended hours un til 6 pm on Dec 6-8.
Organiz ers ask that the donations arrive by Dec 9, or earlier if possible. This will allow time for gifts to be sorted and deliv ered in time for the holidays. Checks should be made out to FCCC and indicate they are for Christmas. Donations can also be made by online on the cen ter’s website. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. TRENTON -- Reminders of her past, present and future softball days decorated the table at which Mariana Caro was seated in the Trenton High School gym.
Jerseys, visors, helmets, photos, a glove and other items surround ed the senior, as she signed her national letter of intent.
College sports signings in recent years at Trenton have been held in its small high school library.
But the large crowd present in the gym on Nov. 17 showed what she said has been crucial to her fulfilling a dream she’s had since childhood.
“It’s been a blessing to know I
have community support,” said Caro, who will extend her soft ball career at Harding Universty in Searcy, Ark.
“It’s been a blessing to have that -- even in the hard times,” she said. “[This] wouldn’t be possible without [it] and my teammates’ support.
“To be able to continue at the next level -- it’s a little payback to the people who have supported
Caro will be an infielder and utility player at Harding.
“I e-mailed them about a year and a half ago, went to a camp there in December and met the coach,” said Caro. “That’s when I fell in love with Harding.
“They have big hearts,” she said. “I know God wants me to be there.”
Even with her senior season still to be played, Caro will take to Harding what has already been a standout career for her at Trenton.
As a junior, she earned the 152A most valuable player award, as the Lady Tigers won the dis trict and made their eighth trip to
Honorable mention recipients were junior Ella Terry, freshman Dixie Chaffin and senior Baylee Williams
Caro also last spring garnered another Class 2A all-state selection from the Texas Girls Coaches Association -and one of 14 spots on its 1A-4A Red all-star game roster.
As a sophomore, she re ceived 15-2A’s offensive superlative and her first TGCA 2A all-state selec tion -- her freshman season cut short, just as district play had begun, as COV ID-19 prematurely ended spring sports in mid March of 2020.
“We are here tonight because of a great kid and person,” said Trenton superintendent Jeremy Strickland, who coached Caro during her freshman and junior seasons.
“She does it all -- put athletics to the side,” he said. “She is one of the best young ladies I’ve been around. She leads on the court, field and in the classroom.
“She’s a special one and phe nomenal kid. She has God-given softball talent ... She will do great things at Harding.”
