SEO Tips & Tricks Get Connected Link Building
Our future plans continue to include the same high level of service, but with more emphasis on providing practical help on marketing ideas and services. This started with our ePublishing service (ePortfolios and eBrochures) and our newsletters and guide books. We realise that having a website on its own is not enough to expand a business. There are many other marketing options that need to be considered. We will soon be offering all our photographer clients the option to exhibit their work for free in a public gallery categorised by subject and location, so visitors can find a photographer in their area and view their work with a link to their website. We are also now supplying websites for general business use, so anyone can take advantage of the efficient website service and software we provide. The future of Internet services is expanding, and we are growing in order to meet that demand, and to pass on the benefits to you. Trevor Hirst (Managing Director)

veryone wants to get on page one of Google (never mind the other search engines). It is the holy grail of every website owner, and it causes the most frustration of all website issues. It has spawned the new industry of SEO services which continues to grow faster than any other sector of the web industry. The demand for high rankings has forced Google to be even more selective when it indexes and ranks websites. The established methods used to optimise a website are well documented, and guides on these techniques are everywhere, so there is no excuse not to be aware of them. Our own SEO guides are freely available on our support site as well as our main website. The frustration comes after you have diligently completed all the traditional SEO tasks, and carefully added all the keywords
DIY Link Building to all the right pages, and still they don't appear on page one! “It must be a problem with the software of the website I hear them cry. The answer has nothing to do with the software. It is all about something called 'Page Rank' which can be defined as... How many other websites link to your website? This is the real yard stick that Google employs when indexing websites, and it makes perfect sense. When Google is deciding on where to position your site it looks for other websites that have a link to yours. These are called 'back links'. The logic is simple... If another website has a page that includes a link to your website, and if their website is of a related subject to yours, and it also ranks highly in Google searches, then that website must consider your site to be very important. This is like earning brownie points as far as Google is concerned. Consider the opposite situation... If no other website has a link to your website, then Google will consider your website to be of very low importance, and therefore rank you accordingly (ie: very low or not at all). The conclusion is simple, but often difficult to achieve. You need to find related websites that are well ranked by Google, and try to get them to add a link to your website on one of their pages (preferably not on their links page). There are link building services available that will do this for you, but at a substantial cost, so it is better (and cheaper) if you can do this yourself.
Your Suppliers Make a list of all the business that you deal with as part of your work, plus any local firms who are involved in a related service. Everything from picture framers to wedding cake makers. These are the people you need to contact to ask if they are interested in adding a reference and a link to your website. You may have to offer a reciprocal link, but this is better than no link at all. The additional benefit of this process is that you will also make new contacts with people who can pass on business to you (and visa-versa). This is where networking with your local services can reap massive rewards, both in search engine rankings and in generating new business for you.
Blogs & Articles Set-up a free blog on blogger.com (owned by Google) and write about your specialist subject. This will then include links to specific pages on your website, so visitors will be able to find your site, and it also qualifies as a genuine back link. You can also write specialist articles that contain links to your website and submit them to hundreds of article directories using a free utility such as www.freearticlesubmission.org
Forums There are thousands of forums that specialise in every subject, and are a great source of help and advice. They are also useful in creating links to your site when you set-up your profile. Forums are often listed highly in search engines when people search for specific terms, so if your forum post includes these terms then you are more likely to appear in those searches.

how much more interesting and useful it would be if it contained lots of guides and information relating to all wedding services in your area. In our article on SEO marketing we explained how you should visit your local suppliers to ask if they would be interested in adding a link to your website. While you are there, why not ask them if they would like to advertise in your eBrochure. You could charge them for the advert space, just like any brochure, but keep your rates low to ensure most will take up the offer. You want your brochure to be packed with useful information and services relating to weddings, and the advertising revenue could pay for the production costs and a profit for you, so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. All your suppliers/advertisers would also be able to include your eBrochure on their own website, and send them out on emails etc, which increases the distribution exponentially. It is in their own interest that the brochure is distributed as widely as possible so that more people will see their advert. Unlike paper based brochures, your eBrochure will never expire or deteriorate or get torn, and you can even add extra pages or update pages without breaking the link. Whatever your business speciality, there are related and local suppliers who would be interested in sharing exposure with you in your eBrochure. Managed creatively, it can even generate a profitable business producing specialist service directories using our ePublishing services, and selling advertising space.

PopIT Random Images
MasterClass
A static home page can make a website look stale which is why many photography sites have a slideshow on the home page to engage the visitor and display a selection of their very best work. Alternatively, display a photo at random every time someone visits it. This makes the page appear fresh and dynamic, rather than faced with the same photo every time they view the page. The PopITLinX facility allows you to display a random photo from a selected gallery using the following PopIT code... [[R32:size=large]]
PopIT Tip 2: All PopIT codes can include multiple parameters, and each is separated by a colon...
[[R34:size=medium]] The parameter type and value are always separated by the equals sign...
size=medium
R = Random The number is the Gallery ID Size can be 'thumb' 'medium' or 'large' (thumb is the thumbnail size, medium is max 500 pixels wide, and large is the full size of the photo).
The best solution is to create a new gallery that will only be used to hold the random photos. Make the photos all the same size and format so that they appear consistent. Then make a note of the gallery ID and enter the PopIT code into a table cell on the page where you want the photo to appear.
