BEAUTY GLAM ROCK MAKEUP IN:4 EASY STEPS Hi Dolls! Let’s talk sexy, grungy, rockstar make-up! Smoldering eyes and little extra mascara can definitely warm things up on those cold winter nights out on the town! Not only will this look make you look chic and edgy, but it’s SO easy and attainable for those of you running short on products or time. The key to ‘glam rock’ makeup is the imperfection of everything! The eyes are dark and smudgy, but skin is clean and refreshed- making it glamorously edgy!

My favorite products for this look: MAC Cosmetics eye kohl ‘Smolder’ Sugarpill Cosmetics eyeshadow ‘Bulletproof ’ Lancome Hypnose Mascara

www.tandmmag.com

STEP 1: Take your kohl eyeliner (any colour, though for a rockstar look stick with black, greys, deep purples or blues) and messily apply to the rim of your eye; enclosing your upper and lower lash lines. STEP 2: Grab your blending brush and lightly buff over the pencil until the edges are smooth. Make the shape of your eyes more dramatic by blending the color outward toward your temples. STEP 3: Pick up the dark eyeshadow with the blending brush, and go over the kohl pencil. Press the colour onto your lids to prevent creasing. Next, choose an eyeshadow close to your skin tone and blend the edges of the dark colour. Concentrate this colour into your crease to ‘erase’ any harsh edges. STEP 4: Lastly apply a couple of coats of mascara or your favourite rockstar eyelashes!

Keep the skin fresh with just a little bronzer or neutral-coloured blush and glossy nude lip! This look is all about looking effortlessly glam, and still edgy! P.S. For extra rockstar appeal, dabble a light coat of clear gloss over your lids before heading out the door! www.tandmmag.com

The Wrecktals Challenging social expectations, raising a strong voice and questioning powers of authority have been the backbone of punk music for decades. So it's no surprise that these are all key elements seen in the music of local Vancouver band The Wrecktals. Combining classic punk style, passionate lyrics and a fuck you attitude, The Wrecktals are a force to be wreckoned with in the punk rock world. They actively push the ideas of radical change, D.I.Y, unity and anti-ignorance. Rocking out a blended style, the guys are anything but one-dimensional. None of them over-identify with any one style. They try to pick clothing and symbols that represent their individuality. They are usually seen as an amalgamation of whatever the fuck they think and enjoy at any given time. None of them are exclusively "punks". They are just a bunch of guys who happen to have a lot of punk in the majority of their hearts. They are extremely open minded and self expressive. Being as such greatly empowers them as individuals but also as a unit. So who are the guys who make up this crazy band? First there's Boomer, the drummer who according to lead vocalist Christoph is the "babe" of the group. He's the "pretty boy" if you will. He is overall described as clean even when he's filthy. Next there is Andrew, the guitarist who is a bit more relaxed. He just does his own thing; unconcerned with how he looks or what others think of him. Christoph describes himself as a deception. While he dresses a bit more clean cut and gentlemanly he is still hard-to-the-core. He says "I am doing hardcore inspired hip-hop as a fun little solo project, so when I hit the stage people are not expecting much. But when the blinding rage comes through that mic, they see it. And more often than not they will leave the show with a new found respect for punk." Overall they are three individuals who share a common love for punk ideology, culture and music. All three musicians have slightly different styles because they have different tastes. How they represent themselves is a reflection of what they listen to and identify with. They are not putting forth a manufactured image; they are just three guys who make up The Wrecktals.

The Wrecktals will be releasing a free EP 'Hard To Be Free' in early 2013. Find them on Facebook or visit at http://www.thewrecktals.bandcamp.com"

Playing a mix of punk, ska, reggae, metal, psychobilly, and acoustic-folk they have opened themselves up to a tonne of avenues that let them explore multiple styles and extend their musical creativity to a larger audience. They strive to become better musicians every day and they always want to write good music that their listeners can enjoy.

8

www.tandmmag.com

Danailya Reese They are strong believers that making music doesn't mean you have to be pretentious douches who write masturbatory music that only other musicians will understand. Their lyrics are sometimes aggressive but also silly and they don't take themselves too seriously. Sometimes their songs are about how fucked up a lot of the world is and other times they're about something as ridiculous as the one-time-their-guitarist-promised-to-write-a-song-and-instead-ate-a-chicken-pot-pie. Sometimes they will have a song that addresses more serious topics alongside funny shit. All three musicians rock out with the traditional look of patches, mohawks, tattoos and piercings; the same shit any healthy and self-expressing individual sports. Their image is about striving to just be yourself. They tell their fans to "Be the you that you want to be, not the you that you were assigned." They represent typical subculture stuff. When asked what “punk rock style” means to them, they replied: "Punk rock is seen as common rebellious ideals of having fire in your heart and a raised, well-meaning fist in the air." It means that where it started out as a big "fuck you" to society way back in the day, it has since evolved into many new meanings that are both abstract and personal. Where it started out as a rebellion from the norm, it has since become more of a representation of who you are. The ideals are usually represented through the insignia worn. Most people wear patches and sport clothes of what bands best represent themselves. "Some drunk punk wearing a "GG Allin" patch probably doesn't have the same ideals regarding intoxicants and sobriety as someone who is wearing a "Minor Threat/Straight Edge" patch. Someone wearing a "Leftover Crack" shirt most likely has a much more educated and empathetic world view than someone wearing a "Screwdriver" emblem." The guys feel that they represent their ideals through their clothes and the modifications they bring to them. They only support the bands with the movements they agree with, believe in and think are beneficial to the world. They wear stuff that represents what they like listening to. They take pride in people being able to tell what kind of music they listen to and what artistic, political and philosophical ideals they hold just by glancing at them. People see right away there is no bullshit and that they are not afraid of people seeing who they really are. The band has overall been influenced by past and present punk subculture. "It would be silly to pretend we invented the mohawk or started wearing patches before anyone else. Everyone is influenced by anything and everything that came before them in a sense. Fashion is no exception to that rule. Honestly though "style" is fading. How can the genre stand for evolution and progress if the representation does not follow suit? A lot of us punks look mostly normal", says Chris. "I will rock leopard print hair most of the time, sure, but I like to look good and I dress relatively normal." They are infiltrating normal society. Making it think. They are messing things up from the inside. "Coming to your hip-hop, metal and reggae shows, hitting the stage, and making you fucking respect punk rock and what we stand for, whether you like the music or not." www.tandmmag.com
