7.2. Vacation Pay and Entitlement

The vacation year runs from September 1st to August 31st of each year. Except as approved under exceptional circumstances by the CAO or Head of School, vacation can not be carried over to the subsequent year.

Regular Full-time Employees (Non-Faculty) are eligible for paid vacation in accordance with the following:

Consecutive years of service

(as of the commencement of the vacation year)

Monthly vacation time off accrual Maximum annual vacation time off entitlement

less than 3 years 0.833 days 10 days

(Note: vacation is not permitted within the first three (3) months of employment)

3 years but less than 10 years 1.25 days 15 days

10 years or more

1.667 days 20 days

TMS reserves the right to schedule vacation for regular full-time non-faculty employees according to its operational requirements, especially during peak periods such as the period leading up to the next Academic year.. However, TMS shall endeavour to schedule vacation at a time that is mutually satisfactory to both the employee and the employee’s Supervisor. Vacation will generally not be allowed on the five (5) business days prior to the students’ return in September.

Regular Full-time Employees (Faculty)

Regular full-time faculty employees receive time off as per the School calendar.

Part-time Faculty Employees

Part-time faculty employees shall receive paid time off as per the School calendar.

Department Heads (Faculty and Non-Faculty)

Department Heads accrue vacation time at a rate of 1.667 days per completed month of service in each year.

Temporary Non-Faculty Employees

Temporary employees shall receive 4% vacation pay based on earnings, to be paid in each pay period.
