The Confederate monument is a historic statue located at the Southwest corner of the Daviess County Courthouse, in Owensboro, Ky. The monument was placed on, September 1900, by John C. Breckinridge. Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. After several years of fund raising. Over 5,000 came to witness the dedication. There were African Americans on both sides of the Civil War in 1862. The statue has been there for over 120 years. Some people want it to be removed, because of their hatred and racism. Let’s put the statue on the ballot, and let the people of Daviess County decided the fate of the statue. This is for the soldiers that died in the Civil War. It has been 160 years since the Civil War, April 12, 1861 and will always be a part of our History, no one can change that. Symbols of American Heritage, Culture and Sovereignty. The mindful of the feelings of pain and rejections from Slave’s and Slavery was abolished from the Civil War.
