What You Need to Know
Campaign Launch: Starting Spring 2025, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension will roll out a three-year educational and marketing campaign promoting Earth-Kind® Roses. These campaigns aim to provide valuable horticultural education and marketing support for the Green Industry in Texas.
Key Features: These newly designated Earth-Kind® Roses are the result of two extensive research studies conducted over 8.5 years. The studies tested 98 rose cultivars under challenging conditions, with only 15 meeting the high standards for Earth-Kind® designation. These roses are low-maintenance, environmentally friendly, and require minimal water, fertilizers, and pesticides.
Campaign Details: The campaigns will feature various cultivars over three years, with each year’s campaign launching on the first weekend in April. Retailers and growers are encouraged to increase production and prepare for these launches to maximize sales opportunities.
Benefits for Growers & Retailers:
1. Increased Demand: Featuring popular cultivars will boost market interest.
2. New Market Opportunities: Special focus on ‘Lena’ and ‘Ole’ cultivars.
3. Retail Support: Point-of-purchase materials provided to enhance sales.
4. Trial Plantings: Recommended for regions outside north-central and central Texas to ensure suitability.
