Huddersfield West Yorkshire
The United Kingdom’s 11th largest town composed of quite a few lovely villages and quaint smaller towns. Home to the Huddersfield Giants and HTAFC. Situated in the North-West region of England, Huddersfield is within 1 hour of a number of major UK cities, including Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield. The town is also known as the birthplace of Labour Prime Minister Harold Wilson and movie star James Mason. The University of Huddersfield, wellknown for its outstanding Architecture course, is where the following projects were born.
The projects within this portfolio are situated within the Queensgate area of Huddersfield Town centre, specifically the area adjacent to Queen Street South. There are 2 waterways within the area, namely, the River Colne (Flood Zone 3) and the Huddersfield Broad Canal (Flood Zone 2). The sunlight falls predominantly to the south faces of all buildings within the area and Huddersfield in general. This makes the south faรงades preferential for views and solar gain, especially in winter.
New School of Architecture
The University has decided to build a new purpose-built facility to house the Department of Architecture & 3D Design and has allocated the site immediately north of the Queen Street Studios (currently occupied by Broadbent Engineering).
Centre for Precision Technology
The University of Huddersfield aims to create a building to house the successful commercial research branch of the Engineering School known as the Centre for Precision Technology. The site is 200 metres south of the Queen Street Studios at the end of Queen Street
Honda Garage Eco House
The develoment of a brownfield site, previously occupied by the Honda Garage and currently used as a car park through the creation of an environmentally friendly family home.
