GENERAL ReMarks — Mark Powell, Director Kris and Nicole Yeomans have been appointed to serve as missionaries in the Philippines. The following is their testimony. “Romans 10:14 tells us “But how can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him?... I can still remember the exact moment that someone posed the question to me for the first time, “but what about those that have never heard the Gospel, will they go to heaven?” I stood looking at them like a deer in headlights and my life was forever changed. Romans 10:14-15 continues by saying, “And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent?...” “We believe very deeply that God has called us to make His name known among the unreached peoples of this Earth; to share Jesus with those who have never heard, to be intentional in our relationships with the purpose of sharing Jesus and to make disciples as we go where God leads us. We have been approved to share in an amazing opportunity in the Philippines by assisting GBIM, the General Baptist Bible College, the General Baptist Church of the Philippines and the Matigsalug Bible Institute in developing programs of effective Muslim outreach within the Philippines and beyond its borders. “We cannot wait to tell you how General Baptists have a chance to make Him known, specifically within the Muslim world among unreached people groups, by coming along side our Filipino brothers and sisters in Christ!” Kris and Nicole have two young daughters, Emily, 10, and Eden, 4. They are accepting invitations to speak in your church and may be contacted at Kris (901) 585-5202, or Nicole (615) 495-6505. You may also contact Mark Powell or Jim Pratt at the International Ministries office at (573) 785-7746.

Mission One team ministries have been a blessing to our church. Last year 25 team members made a trip to minister to the children of Faith Home and the people of Honduras. In turn, our team was ministered to by the Honduran people. Our people grew in their relationship with the Lord and in love with the people of Honduras. We were humbled by the humility of the Honduran people and their ability to live with very little. The love and humility of each child on the campus of Faith Home made all of us proud to be a part of such a blessed ministry. We took 24 more people to Honduras in January 2016 to work on the transition house for those young people who have graduated and will be leaving Faith Home. It is a blessing to continue to minister and help these young people become productive citizens of their country.

supporting, is a great way to do something God is blessing. I am always reminded that the time and energy spent is well worth it, because it is always for others’ good and God’s glory no matter how challenging it may be. “Then I heard the Lord asking, ‘Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?’ I said, ‘Here I am. Send me.’ (Isaiah 6:8).” Short term missions and leading teams have helped my prayer life expand, my comfort zone brought down, my faith strengthened, and my dependence upon God to be unwavering. I am thankful for God’s calling and the way God has allowed me to take part in some extraordinary experiences. My hope is that you will answer the call of God on your heart by going on a trip and financially supporting missions.

One of the great blessings of my years in ministry has been the opportunity to build and lead short-term mission teams. The make up of these teams are usually small groups from different churches coming together. Getting a front row seat to watch as total strangers become lifelong friends over the course of seven days is rewarding.
It is especially fun to take folks on their first mission trip out of the country. To those who have never left North America, it is an eye opening experience. It brings a new appreciation for the blessings they enjoy in this country. They suddenly see Jesus’ words “to whom much is given much is expected” from a new perspective One of the greatest blessings of these teams is watching some begin down their own road of ministry. To those being called, exposure to genuine ministry always prompts a reaction. To watch them go on to have ministries of their own has been especially fulfilling.

Participating in a Mission One team was literally life changing for me. Coming to understand that God is actively working all around the world and being able to witness Him at work through these teams changes the way you live. Working alongside brothers and sisters in Christ in other countries enriches you as a believer. We become partners with them in building the Kingdom. To sum it up “going” changes our “living,” “giving,” and “serving.”
