Toi o Tahuna was established in 2004 – based on a foundational premise to support and promote contemporary Mäori art practice. The gallery views itself as a place for visitors to engage with and play its part in the evolution of the issue(s) of identity both domestically in Aotearoa/New Zealand and beyond its borders as part of the Asia Pacific region.
