“The world’s greatest living explorer” (The Guinness Book of Records) needs little introduction.

Barbara Dickson and Rab Noakes have been friends since they were teenagers, singing and playing in venues around Scotland.

He has dedicated his life to recordbreaking expeditions. From the first hovercraft journey up the Nile, through to his 52,000 mile circumnavigation of the world via both poles and his successful summit of Mount Everest aged 64, he continues to push the boundaries of the adventure and to inspire people all over the world.

As separate acts they often found themselves performing alongside each other (and other musical luminaries) creating a lifetime bond. Subsequently, they have ‘occasionally’ performed live, sang on each other’s records and remained friends for over 40 years.

Join Sir Ranulph Fiennes as he talks about his life of ‘Living Dangerously’.

Now, they’ve reunited to perform a wonderful blend of folk songs, classic pop influences and self written favourites.

We are delighted to welcome back the renowned Royal Scottish National Orchestra after the success of last year’s performance in Stirling, led by conductor Alexandre Bloch and featuring Maya Iwabuchi on solo violin. This concert features music by Mendelssohn, Bizet and Saint-Saëns. Alexandre Bloch has a way with romantic music; together with the RSNO’s own Maya Iwabuchi he’ll make Saint-Saens’ Third Violin Concerto the sweet centre to a truly mouthwatering concert.

Come and be swept away by the smooth, swinging vocals of the UK’s most loved soul artist, Andy Abraham. The most refreshing voice on the current soul scene, Andy Abraham is a talent that takes you back to the golden years of music, yet bringing his own contemporary twist to classic songs. His amazing vocal talent, captivating personality and warm stage presence enthral and mesmerise; it’s no wonder Andy has become a true star and one of the UK’s most successful soul singers.

A very special evening of the finest traditional music, featuring the leading exponent of Shetland’s rich fiddle tradition, Fiddler’s Bid. There are a total of seven formidable musicians on stage in the Bid, including four fiddlers who seem to be linked by musical telepathy, a strong rhythm section of guitar and bass and the flawless touch of Catriona McKay on harp and piano. They effortlessly blend the tradition of Shetland with wider musical influences, reels, jigs and polkas, are all delivered with amazing power and dexterity, while their beautifully measured waltzes and slow airs never fail to delight. “If they don’t sweep you away - check your pulse.” The Herald
