The dark nights and grey skies mayb soon be upon us, but we are here to shine a light on the very best in performance and give your spirits a wee lift. In October, Bluegrass maverick Peter Rowan takes us on a kaleidoscopic journey through the annals of Americana. I’m also really excited to welcome German electro songstress Barbara Morgenstern who performs her only Scottish date with us in November. In a festive frolic, Davie Scott’s Pop Christmas Special heads our way. Davie has put together a seasonal treat with a galaxy of Scottish pop personalities, watch out for Karine Polwart’s choir contributions! And we bring the year to a close with our now legendary Christmas Ceilidhs. I hope to see you here...

The open mic nights have proved to be incredibly popular with first timers and old pro’s alike. Where else would you get the chance to perform in front of an audience with the support of a fantastic jazz band. The evening is relaxed and informal, where the only qualifications needed are a sense of fun and a desire to sing. So if you are a secret singer, or want a chance to sing some of those old-fashioned numbers made famous by Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra or Ella Fitzgerald then this is the night for you! Come along and meet other like-minded people and if you don’t feel like putting your name down straight away then just listen, it’s only £3 and a great night out. The auditorium is set out as a cabaret club creating the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a drink and an evening of home-grown entertainment. Go on, you’ll never know unless you give it a go!

here are strong cultural links between Scotland and Québec but none can be stronger than the influence that the traditional Celtic music, from Scotland, Ireland and Brittany, had on Québécois musical culture.

And although you can recognise that Celtic influence and hints of a languid Parisian singing style in the music of Genticorum, they are absolutely rooted in the soil of their native land. This trio came together in 2000 and have won awards and plaudits in Québec, wider Canada and throughout the world.

Weaving wooden flute, fiddle, acoustic guitar, jaw harp, bass and foot percussion with strong vocal harmonies, they offer a blend of traditional songs and tunes as well as original compositions. Their distinctive sound, sense of humour and stage presence makes them a supreme crowd pleaser.
