RESIDENT/SPECIAL INTEREST CAMP DIRECTORY Circle Pines Center The mission of Circle Pines Center is to teach peace, social justice, environmental stewardship and cooperation. Our summer camp program combines elements of a traditional summer camp like swimming, sports, campfires, theater, dance, arts and crafts, with cooperative work projects like construction, gardening, trail maintenance and cleaning, and educational activities on such topics as climate change, food policies, social justice, ecosystems and critical thinking. It is a good combination of fun, balanced with work and learning in a very welcoming and supportive environment. Parents frequently report that their children come home more confident, thoughtful and cooperative. We have three camp sessions: a two week session from July 6 to 19, followed by a one week session July 20 to 26, concluding with another two week session, July 27 to August 9. We also have programs throughout the year for families and adults, including a music festival, the Buttermilk Jamboree, June 13 to 15 and the People’s Institute, August 19 to 24. We try to practice what we preach and purchase much of our food through local and/or organic growers and processors, which is then prepared from scratch by our loving kitchen staff. Rossford Community Recreation Center The Rossford Community Recreation Center, RCRC, runs a 10-week summer day camp from June 9 through August 15, 2014. We have three different options when signing your child up. You can sign up for the full 10 weeks or you can pay weekly or daily. We do offer a 10 percent reduction of camp fees for families with multiple campers enrolled. Camp fees do not include Friday Trips or the Mud Hens games; there is an additional fee for these events. Your camper will take many trips over the summer. We go to the library and sign up for the summer reading program. Every Tuesday and Thursday we go swimming at the YMCA’s outdoor pool. St. James Club Summer activities are huge at the St. James Club! First of all our Western Lake Erie Swim League championship team from 2013 will begin practice the first week of June in efforts to defend their title. One of the exercise highlights the St. James Club offers is the much-anticipated return of Outdoor Boot Camp. This high-intensity regimen mixes cardiovascular, crossfit and plyometric activities.
