Charles Carroll

Congress Chairman and Vice President Q:What is the one word you will use to describe this Congress? A: EPIC, because we are pushing boundaries and creating new ways of presenting things, which we hope the chefs will love.

Q: If there is one activity that the chefs should not miss, what will that be? A: It will probably have to be the Chefs’ Parade. For me, it is the hallmark of the congress – when chefs from around the world get together and proudly carry their country´s flag. However, the speakers and the show will be so great that you should not miss anything. Q: We know your committee spent months planning this Congress. What are you personally most proud of? A: The line-up of chefs who have readily said “Yes” to share their experiences with us. Also, the way in which we have injected inspiration into the entire congress programme.

Gissur Gudmundsson Worldchefs President

Q:This is your second Congress as President. What are your expectations for this Congress?

A: That only the best will happen! I have see how the Congress committee planned the programme, and I have confidence that it will wow and make an impact.

Q: How do you feel?

A: Proud, excited and happy. Q: What are you looking forward to most?

A: Catching up with friends from around the world. I have the privilege of flying around the world the entire year to meet chefs in their country, but seeing all of them in one place and to share our experiences is another feeling altogether.

Kristine H. Hartviksen

VIP treatment for the competitors.

President of Norwegian Chefs Association Q: As the host of the Worldchefs Congress 2014 in Stavanger, how do you feel right now?

A: We, the Norwegian chefs, are very proud and excited to host this event. We hope to showcase the best of our country’s tourism, but most of all, our gastronomy and the fine produce we have from our country. Together with the 23 local chef associations in Norway, we warmly welcome our guests. Q: What is the event you are looking forward to?

A: The dinners. We have planned for months to ensure we show off the best of our culinary techniques and ingredients. After all, Norway has made a name for its gastronomy, and what better way to validate it than at the international WorldChefs Congress? Q: What is one thing you have to say to the chefs who are visiting your country for the first time? A: Norwegians are naturally hospitable people, so please kick back, relax and enjoy yourselves. We have 250 Norwegian chefs who have all volunteered their time to work on this to make this perfect. We have spent six years working on this so we hope you return home with great memories.
