easy as 1-2-3 Global Blue’s Tax Free Shopping service helps you shop the world for less by claiming back the sales tax on purchases made at 270,000 partner stores worldwide. All visitors to Iceland are eligible to shop tax free, all you need to do is follow the simple steps below.
1. GeT IT
Look for stores displaying the Global Blue Tax Free Shopping logo and remember to ask the sales staff for a Tax Free Form when you pay.
2. STAMP IT
Before leaving Iceland, refer back to your completed Tax Free Forms. If any one of the form’s purchase total is over ISK 34.501.- you need to get that form stamped at the Customs desk. however, if the refund total of any one form is below ISK 5.000.- you don’t need to get that form stamped. You must present your completed Tax Free Forms, passport, receipts and purchases to get a stamp on your form.
3. CASh IT
Make sure to fill in all required information on your Tax Free Form. Show your form, passport and credit card to our staff at the Global Blue Refund Point, you can either get the refund in cash or put back on your credit card. If you receive your refund before getting to the airport, make sure you have a valid credit card available as guarantee. When at the airport you drop the Global Blue envelope in a mail box after check in and security, this needs to be done within 21 days of refund received.
