LEGACY BIBLE CHURCH CELEBRATES FIVE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY, LOOKS FORWARD TO NEW FACILITY
On Sunday morning, March 1, 2015, six inches of snow covered the ground in Indianapolis. Many churches were closed due to the weather. But 52 people braved the snow that cold morning to form a new church community in Hamilton County: Legacy Bible Church.
The next week, on March 8, 2015, 116 attended Legacy Bible Church, which was meeting in Fishers Junior High School. Since that time, the nondenominational church has continued to grow as word spread about the church’s unique style of worship and in-depth Bible preaching. The organization’s name characterizes its core beliefs:
Legacy - Style of time-honored worship and music that has been inherited from previous generations is worthy to be passed on to future generations.
Bible – Core of the church’s teaching.
Church – Joyfully identify as being a church for which Christ died. significant that was,” says Legacy Pastor Keith Kunda. “But meeting in a building designed for worship proved to be critical for future growth.”
By the fall of 2015, a choir and then a full orchestra had been added to the worship service. With the musicians not able to all fit on the stage at Fishers Junior High, plans were made to move to Riverside Junior High School on November 1, 2015. Ten days before the move to Riverside, an opportunity arose that allowed Legacy to rent a church building at 2140 Greenfield Avenue in Noblesville.
After just eight months of meeting in a school, Legacy Bible Church had a new meeting place.
“I didn’t understand at the time how Dr. Kunda is committed to in-depth biblical preaching that emphasizes the essentials of the Christian faith, while recognizing that all who know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are brothers and sisters in Christ, regardless of their church affiliation. He is a firm believer that great music, active congregational participation and excellence in preaching scripture are all vital components of Christian worship.
Legacy Bible Church celebrated its five-year anniversary on March 1, 2020. Now in its sixth year, the church sees residents travel from five Indiana counties to worship on Sunday mornings.
In the fall of 2018, Legacy Bible Church purchased 17 acres of land at 13490 Howe Road in Fishers. In May 2020, groundbreaking will be held to build a new, permanent worship facility, which will attach to the house already on the land. The house will be converted to office and education space. A special weekend of celebration is planned for May 1-2, 2021, when the new church building is scheduled to open.
“The construction of our new facility represents the growing desire for Christians to not only share their faith, but also to enhance their worship experience” Dr. Kunda says. “The facilities will allow more classrooms for Sunday school for all ages and will also offer a larger sanctuary to accommodate our growing congregation.”
One of Legacy Bible Church’s tenants is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with their neighbors, city, state, country and around the world. Since its inception, Legacy has supported local charities like Wheeler Mission. In 2019, the church formalized its missions efforts with the creation of the Global Outreach (GO) Committee, which directs activities and funding for missions activities. Legacy Bible Church supports ministry in five states and nine countries. Last year, a group of Legacy members spent a day in Elkhart, Indiana, assembling shortwave radios for people to hear the gospel in Liberia, Africa. Legacy will sponsor its first international missions effort this summer. A group of Legacy members, through Reach to Romania, will spend 14 days in Hateg and other towns and villages, assisting in a Christian summer camp and various activities for foster children and orphans. “After my first visit, I knew this was where I belonged,” Tolen says. “The service enhances my worship, and the people are very friendly.”
Dr. Kunda adds, We encourage any and all to come and share our worship experience at our current location on Greenfield Avenue, and to grow with us as we prepare to move to our new space on Howe Road.”

Church member Elaine Tolen says she started attending after hearing about the biblically sound preaching and the traditional music.
