2020 LOCAL EVENTS IN CARMEL

Numerous events and festivals are held in Carmel each year. Some of the highlights include the following.

Saturdays in July from 5 - 10 p.m. A treat for your senses. Enjoy a summer evening experiencing vintages al fresco at Art of Wine. Guests 21 years of age and older can enjoy a variety of wines while also taking in the Arts & Design District’s galleries, shops and restaurants. Live entertainment enhances this event, which is a favorite of many. ART OF WINE

August The art of the automobile is on display in Carmel’s Arts & Design District during Artomobilia. Cars from all eras line the streets and galleries exhibit art with an auto theme. For more information, visit CarmelArtomobilia.com. ARTOMOBILIA

September PorchFest is a family-friendly event that is free and open to the public. Featured will be a variety of musical acts ranging from acoustic to electric, solo to ensemble from a wide variety of musical genres that will perform live on neighborhood porches. All participants, including bands, homeowners and organizers are comprised of volunteers from the Carmel and surrounding areas. For more information visit CarmelPorchfest.org. CARMEL PORCHFEST

Saturday mornings from 8 - 11:30 a.m., May through the end of September at 5 Center Green, Carmel IN 46032 The Carmel Farmers Market (CFM) is one of the largest farmers markets in Indiana. Featuring 64 vendors of Indiana grown and/or produced edible products and plants, this market is attended by nearly 80,000 visitors each summer. When you shop at the Summer Market you can pick from an array of fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, poultry, and meats. Come visit the Market for breakfast or lunch, while listening to live music from the Carmel Rotary Amphitheater. CARMEL FARMER’S MARKET

Saturday mornings from October - March The Market will not be open the last two Saturdays of December. This event is free and open to the public. The Winter Carmel Farmers Market, like the Summer Market, is an exciting and bountiful place to buy your fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, eggs, plants, and prepared foods. CARMEL FARMER’S WINTER MARKET

Held annually in September on Main Street, Carmel Arts & Design District The International Arts Festival held in September features a juried art exhibit of artists from around the world. Visitors of all ages also can enjoy concerts, dance performances and hands-on activities for children. The festival takes place in the Carmel Arts and Design District, an area dedicated to the arts in Old Town Carmel. For more information, including date and time, visit CarmelArtsFestival.org. CARMEL INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL

Mid-November to late December The Carmel Christkindlmarkt is bringing the charm of a long standing European tradition to the heart of Carmel, Indiana. One of the earliest of these markets was the 16th century Christkindlmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany and the wonderful tradition has now spread worldwide. Guests will experience one of a kind, high quality, handmade gifts, Germanic inspired food, drink and ice skating. CHRISTKINDLMARKT

Third weekend in September (typically) The Carmel on Canvas Painting Event provides artists with 3 days of painting, within the Carmel Arts & Design District. CARMEL ON CANVAS

Saturday before Thanksgiving through early March at 10 Center Green, Carmel Carmel’s newest attraction, the ice rink, is nestled between The Palladium and The Tarkington Theater. For more information, including skate sessions and fees, visit TheIceatCenterGreen.com. THE ICE AT CENTER GREEN

Held annually on July 3rd and 4th at Carmel Civic Square This annual festival celebrating the 4th of July is the highlight of summer in Carmel. Festivities include a parade, live entertainment, food vendors and a spectacular fireworks display. Activities are available for all age groups, making it a fun event for the entire family. Held annually the Saturday before Thanksgiving at Carmel Civic Square Co-sponsored by the City of Carmel and the Carmel Arts Council, this event kicks off the holiday season in Carmel. Holiday entertainment, Santa, his elves and live reindeer provide a festive atmosphere for the City’s Holiday lighting ceremony on Civic Square. The Mayor officiates this event and children can get their picture with Santa for a small fee. HOLIDAY AT CENTER GREEN

Held annually the Saturday before Thanksgiving at Carmel Civic Square First Saturday in December in the Carmel Arts & Design District Elves, reindeer, carolers, carriage rides and the most unique Santa house in Indiana warm Carmel’s Arts & Design District this holiday season. For more information, visit CarmelArtsAndDesign.com. HOLIDAY IN THE ARTS DISTRICT

Second Saturday of each month Enjoy the fine art, merchant activities, entertainment, culture and shopping of the Carmel Arts and Design District every Second Saturday. Featuring new artists and exhibits in the galleries each month, guest appearances by international and local artists, and prizes, giveaways or special activities at select events. The event is held the Friday before Memorial Day at 9 a.m. The event is held outside at the Veterans Memorial Plaza on Third Avenue SW, south of City Center Drive. Carmel’s American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts perform a flag raising ceremony and join the mayor, other dignitaries and a keynote speaker from one of the various branches of the military at this event. MEMORIAL DAY

This event is free to the public and open to all ages. Enjoy food, entertainment and fall fun with the Palladium and the Center Green serving as a scenic background. For more information, visit CarmelOktoberfest.com. OKTOBERFEST

Held Wednesday evenings in June - September at Carmel Civic Square This free summer concert series offers weekly family entertainment on the lawn of Carmel Civic Square. Families are encouraged to bring picnic suppers and enjoy the outdoor music. For more information, visit CarmelGazeboConcerts.org. SUMMER FAMILY CONCERT SERIES AT THE GAZEBO

Traditionally, the Carmel Veterans Day ceremony is held at noon the business day before Veterans Day (which allows our local veterans to participate in other regional ceremonies held on Veterans Day). This event is free and open to the public. The City of Carmel, Mayor Jim Brainard and members of local veterans organizations, work together to host an annual Veterans Day Ceremony, a community event in honor of our veterans. The ceremony pays tribute and thanks those who served our country in order for us to enjoy the freedoms that we have today. VETERANS DAY
