Leading the way in Patient Safety
Johnson Memorial Health has earned the nation’s top distinction for patient safety with an “A” from the Leapfrog Group. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is an elite designation from a national, independent watchdog that sets the highest standards for patient safety in the U.S.
This honor belongs to every one of the providers and associates at JMH who work each day to provide exceptional health care for our patients.

Dr. Nicholas St. Germain specializes in minimally-invasive hip replacements and robotic-assisted knee replacements
Nicholas St. Germain, MD, is a fellowship-trained physician who specializes in orthopedic surgery, adult reconstruction and total joint replacement. He is one of the few area surgeons who performs the anterior hip replacement procedure, which allows patients to experience less pain and faster recovery.
Dr. St. Germain uses OrthoGrid AI technology, an application that provides valuable, real-time image analysis during hip replacement surgery. He also uses the state-of-the-art ROSA robotic system when performing knee replacement surgery. Both of these technologies provide greater alignment accuracy, resulting in more natural-feeling joints.

RESTORE OLD TOWN GREENWOOD KICKS OFF ANOTHER SEASON OF FINAL FRIDAYS

Every community wants to thrive, and what better way to do so than to bring people together with music and activities?
Final Fridays was established last year in Greenwood by Restore Old Town Greenwood (ROTG) to bring the community’s businesses together. The organization’s vision is stated as follows on the official website: “Restore Old Town Greenwood connects our diverse communities by promoting Old Town as a place to experience a variety of local businesses, leisure and recreational opportunities and to preserve and enhance the historical heart of our community.”
Megan Yeagy, ROTG board member and co-owner of Grafton Peek Mercantile and Grafton Peek Social Hall, has been involved in piecing together Final Fridays from the beginning.
“We reached out to a lot of local businesses to get them on board,” Yeagy says. “A lot of people were very excited about it. So with that we grew it a little bit, having live music out on the streets in the warmer months.”
ROTG established Final Fridays in July of 2024. Final Fridays runs from February to November, with core hours from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Last year special offers and activities included Chalk a Walk sponsored by Teal Canary, appearances of the library’s book bike, free hair tinsel from Penelope June Salon, a variety of live music and more.
“We want to promote kids to come out and chalk a walk,” Yeagy says. “But also if you just want a date night or an adult night out, it’s great for that too. We really want all people of Greenwood to come down and see because we’re trying to show that there can be something for everyone.”
Yeagy and her husband, Brian Yeagy, began Grafton Peek Mercantile and Grafton Peek Social Hall in 2023. After living in Indy for years, the Yeagys wanted a more small-town feel and moved to Greenwood. Mercantile hosts vendors of local and Indiana-made products, ranging from art to handcrafted items and beyond. For Final Fridays, the Yeagys keep Mercantile open late and showcase a couple vendors. Weather permitting, they host a booth outside the storefront to draw people in.
Yeagy’s reason for focusing her business on locally made items is the same reason she’s so involved in efforts to grow and deepen the community of Greenwood.
“It’s twofold support of your community.” Yeagy says. “Not only are you supporting this shop, you’re then supporting the local makers as well, so a lot of your money is going to stay right here.”
As with all small organizations, ROTG is seeking volunteers to help make Final Fridays happen.
“We’re actually talking with a few people at Greenwood High School,” she says. “A lot of the students are interested, which would be huge for us. The more help we can get, the bigger we can make it.”
You can support Grafton Peek Mercantile by shopping in person at 280 West Main Street in Greenwood, checking them out on Instagram or Facebook @graftonpeekmercantile, or visiting graftonpeekgreenwood.com.

HOME HEALTH
Exterior Care: The First Impressions Matter
Your home’s exterior is its first impression, both for guests and potential buyers if you’re ever thinking of selling. From the roof to the foundation, regular maintenance can make all the difference in keeping your home looking sharp, protecting it from the elements, enhancing its value and creating a healthier living environment.
Inspect the Roof: Over time, weather, age and debris can cause wear and tear. Cameron Blakely of Raptor Roofing notes that this winter, Center Grove has had heavy snow sitting on roofs for extended periods, increasing the chance of hidden moisture seeping into weak spots. One problem area to check is the flashing around chimneys, vents and skylights, where cracks or gaps can let water seep in without showing initial signs of damage. Raptor Roofing offers a complimentary inspection to spot these issues before they turn into a large and costly repair. Have your roof inspected.
Maintain Gutters and Downspouts: Gutters are vital for directing rainwater away from your home’s foundation. Clogged gutters can lead to water damage, mold growth and foundation issues. Clean them out at least twice a year and ensure that downspouts are clear and directed away from your house.
Preserve the Paint: The paint on your exterior not only adds curb appeal, but also protects your home from moisture, UV rays and wear. Repainting every few years or as needed keeps the home’s outer surfaces protected.
Landscaping: A well-kept yard adds to your home’s curb appeal while creating a peaceful outdoor retreat. Regularly mow the lawn, trim shrubs and clean up fallen leaves. Also, be mindful of how plants interact with the foundation—roots can cause cracks in the structure if left unchecked.

Interior Care: Creating a Comfortable, Safe Home
Inside your home, regular maintenance ensures both the aesthetic appeal and functional efficiency of your space. It’s not just about cleanliness, but also about preserving comfort, safety and energy efficiency.
Clean and Inspect HVAC Systems: Your heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems should be inspected and cleaned regularly. Replace filters every few months and schedule a professional service check to prevent system breakdowns.
Maintain Plumbing: Leaky faucets and pipes can waste water and lead to expensive repairs. Check for signs of leaks around sinks, tubs, and toilets. “As we go into the spring season, we always anticipate precipitation,” says Steve Winters of Winters Plumbing. “Be proactive and have your sump pump checked by a licensed plumber to ensure it is working properly and that there are no signs of damaging wear and tear. Have a battery backup system installed to prevent flooding in case of a power outage. Call Winters Plumbing to address any plumbing items.”
Flooring and Walls: The condition of your floors and walls can make or break the ambiance of your home. Whether it’s cleaning carpets, resealing hardwood or repainting walls, routine maintenance of your interior surfaces can help keep your home looking polished and fresh.
Safety Checks: Test smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors every six months. Ensure that fire extinguishers are fully charged and easily accessible. In addition, take a look at any safety concerns such as exposed wires, unstable furniture, increased clutter or slippery stairs.

Furniture shopping can be fun, but it can also be frustrating if you aren’t sure what you want, are struggling with a budget, or are greeted by overzealous salespeople who follow you around the store as you browse.
When you shop at Furniture Fair, however, the pressure is off, the sales team is friendly and supportive, and a “good, better, best” selection system makes their products affordable for everyone.

FURNITURE FAIR MARKS ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN GREENWOOD
Writer / Christy Heitger-Ewing
Photographer / Amy Payne
Originating six decades ago in Erlanger, Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati, Furniture Fair now has seven locations in Cincinnati, two in Dayton, two in Louisville and one in Indianapolis, which opened in March 2024. This month marks the one-year anniversary of the 60,000-square-foot Furniture Fair showroom located at County Line Road and Emerson Avenue in Greenwood. Selling a curated collection of furniture for every room and occasion, customers can outfit their entire home in furnishings that
combine style, comfort and affordability.
“If a family frequently eats meals together at home, having a really nice dining room table is important to them so they would want to choose a ‘best’ dining room table,” says Nick Daniels, director of sales for Furniture Fair. “But if they rarely use their basement, they may want to save a little money outfitting their basement with ‘good’ furniture selections.”
Furniture Fair’s on-site Design Center

enables consumers and designers to design a space so they can envision the layout of their home when incorporating their new furniture. For no extra cost to the customer, a space-planning expert comes to your home to measure your room(s). They then set up a personalized appointment in the store where they propose several options for what will work best in that particular space, taking into consideration furniture selection, color coordination and spatial planning. The design consultant points out factors the customer likely hasn’t thought of,
like how end tables, cocktail tables, accent chairs and different corner pieces might serve to complete the room and give it the functionality it needs. It’s not unusual for customers to initially feel overwhelmed when furniture shopping, so they appreciate the guidance from seasoned experts.
“They’re nervous and they feel like before they spend X amount of money, they want to make sure it will work in their home,’” Nick says.

When it comes to furniture selection, sometimes customers believe they should pick the biggest sectional because they saw it on HGTV, but that’s not always the most functional option. Megan [last name withheld] was pleased by the team’s helpful advice and low-pressure sales at Furniture Fair.
“I don’t like to shop around and I don’t like people trying to sell me things,” she says. “I chose to do business with [the Furniture Fair staff] because they listened to what I wanted and gave me space. Because of that,

when I came back to order my sectional, I added a bed frame and two other small accessories to my furniture purchase.”
Furniture Fair has professionally trained inhouse delivery teams - one that brings in your new furniture and another that carries out your old pieces. That’s a distinct advantage over many competitors.
“It’s a lot of cost for us to maintain our own delivery staff and own trucks, but from a quality-control standpoint, our customers know that anyone coming into their home has been drug tested and background checked,” Nick says. “Consumers are increasingly starting to recognize this as a value.”
“We understand that there are a lot of places where you can buy a sofa or a bedroom set, but we go the extra mile for our customer,” adds Craig Daniels, marketing director for Furniture Fair. “We make sure that the beginning, middle and end of the buying process is exceptional by using our own people and standards each step of the way.”
In an industry that’s traditionally slow to react to change in technology, Furniture Fair has always embraced technology in order to provide a better and more convenient experience for the customer.
If you’re in the market for a new mattress, for instance, Furniture Fair’s Sleep Center has an exclusive bedMATCH® machine, which measures a customer’s body and compares it to thousands of people with a similar body type to suggest a mattress that will help you rest soundly.
“With mattress stores having 30 to 50 options, by the time you try a couple dozen of them, your head is spinning,” Nick says. “This gives a customer a good starting point of what might help them sleep the best without having to test a bunch of beds.”
The sales team always carries iPads, which allows each member to access a product database at the touch of a finger, rather than having to visit a kiosk to check inventory, look up product information or search for expected delivery dates for items.
“The checkout process in furniture stores used to be really long and drawn out, a bit like purchasing a car,” Nick says. “We’ve expedited that process.”
The Furniture Fair team is committed to being a good community partner, so they support several organizations in Indianapolis including Operation Backpack and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

“We know that furniture is the third-largest purchase people tend to make,” Nick says. “Trust is a big factor in spending that amount of money. People think, ‘If you’re supporting organizations that mean a lot to me, then you’re probably a trustworthy business.’ Sponsoring these organizations has been an important way for us to communicate our values.”
From the very beginning, Furniture Fair has always been focused on giving back.
“Our community is the heart and soul of our business, and we want to ensure that we support people where we can,” says Craig. “The city of Greenwood has been great

and the community has been so receptive. We’re very excited for our future in the Indianapolis market.”
Furniture Fair’s Greenwood showroom is located at 8850 South Emerson Avenue in Indianapolis. For more information, call 317-215-7222, or visit furniturefair.net/pages/greenwood to schedule an appointment.

DAVE RANDALL’S TINY HOMES PROVE BIG DREAMS CAN THRIVE IN SMALL SPACES
Writer / Renée Larr
For Dave Randall, the journey into tiny-home construction wasn’t just a business decision, but also the result of a lifelong passion. From building a backyard shed as a teenager to a 30-year career in remodeling, Randall has always been drawn to efficient, welldesigned spaces. Now, he’s carving out a niche in the tiny-home industry, creating high-end, custom-built tiny homes that blend quality craftsmanship with minimalist living.
Randall’s interest in tiny homes began in 2006 when he moved to Pensacola, Florida, and started learning about the movement. He was fascinated by the idea of living simply, reducing clutter and maximizing space. But turning his passion into a fulltime business wasn’t easy.
For years I was ready to start, but I struggled
to find a building large enough to work in,” Randall says. “You need at least 14-foot ceilings to build a home that meets road height requirements, and I didn’t want to do it in a backyard under a tarp.”
While still running his remodeling business, he spent years searching for the right location. In 2016 he found two commercial buildings in Anderson, Indiana, that allowed him to take the next step. However, transitioning from remodeling to tinyhome construction took time. He built his first two homes on spec, working on them between paid remodeling jobs to avoid taking on debt.
Finally, in 2020, his first high-end tiny home, The Dragonfly Cottage, was completed. The second, The Butterfly

Cottage, followed soon after. Unlike mass-produced tiny homes, Randall’s creations stand out for their exceptional craftsmanship and luxury finishes. With triple-pane windows for energy efficiency, closed-cell foam insulation for superior thermal performance, and high-end appliances for modern living, his homes are built to last and provide a comfortable living experience.
His clients are primarily middle-aged and older adults looking to downsize or find an affordable, stylish living option. His sweetspot price point is $100,000 to $150,000. Each of Randall’s homes is one of a kind. “I’m not a mass-production guy,” he says. “I do two or three high-end builds a year, and every one is unique.”
Randall’s tiny homes are mobile and classified as RVs, making them easier to finance and transport than alternatives. They can remain on their wheels or be placed on a permanent foundation. This flexibility makes them ideal for a variety of uses, from Airbnb properties to solutions

for aging parents who want to live close to family, or individuals seeking a downsized lifestyle. Randall’s homes can cater to a variety of needs, making them a versatile living option.
Randall is passionate about building tiny homes and is an advocate for trade education in schools. “In high school I took so many shop classes that they made it my minor,” he says. “Not everyone needs a fouryear degree. We need skilled tradespeople: plumbers, electricians, carpenters. These are great careers and I’d love to see more young people get into them.”
With a growing demand for custom, highend tiny homes, Randall is proving that big dreams can thrive in small spaces. Whether for full-time living, a vacation retreat or a guest house, his homes offer luxury, efficiency and craftsmanship in every square foot.

BOATLOAD OF SERVICE
GEAR UP FOR BOATING SEASON THE RIGHT WAY AT REEDER TRAUSCH MARINE
Writer / Melissa Gibson
This spring will be the first for Reeder Trausch Marine featuring their second location.
In late 2024, former Center Grove classmates and co-owners of Reeder Trausch Marine, J Hurless and Monty Anderson, purchased a second location on U.S. Highway 37/Interstate 69 on the south side of Indy. The original Reeder Trausch Marine is in Rockville near Raccoon Lake.
With twice the inventory, new and exciting models, and annual summer events planned, they’re gearing up for a new season of being out on the water.
“We have the 2025 models on display,” said Ben Lynk, marketing manager. “The new M series with Bennington has some great new technology and features you might not have seen before.”
They serve as an authorized dealer of Lund, Bennington, Avalon Pontoon Boats and Four Winns fiberglass boats too.
Reeder Trausch Marine recently attended the annual Boat Show at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, bringing in more than 50 boats for visitors to see, and offering great deals for those interested in finally purchasing their dream boat.
If you’re looking for something new, Reeder Trausch Marine has you covered.
“When purchasing a boat, we want to look at what your family wants to do on the water,” Lynk said. “How many people will you have with you on average? Is your main goal relaxation, water sports, fishing? We need to know what your goal is on the water.”
One of the best perks of heading out to Reeder Trausch is the ability to ask questions of their knowledgeable staff.
“We have three core values: teamwork, accountability and customer promise,” Lynk said. “You can’t walk through here without being treated like family. Our staff has unparalleled knowledge about boats. I’ve been here for two and a half years and I still learn something new every day.”
With sales nearly every month for new and pre-owned boats, Lynk said getting a great deal is always an option.
Of course, in the spring many people begin to think about weekends at a lake, a fishing trip and fun in the sun. If you’re taking the family boat out soon, Lynk suggests getting a spring safety inspection.

“If your boat hasn’t run for a while, make sure everything is working right,” he said. “Make sure all the required life jackets and safety items are on board. We want to make sure you have a great day on the water.”
Bring your boat into the Reeder Trausch Marine service department to get everything in tip-top condition before the season begins.
Other boat safety tips include checking the weather forecast, letting someone know where you’re going and when you’ll be back, as well as bringing an emergency locator beacon, cell phone or marine radio on the trip.
“We consider our customers family, and it’s hard to find that at a lot of places anymore,” Lynk said. “We want to make sure we’re tailoring for the customer’s needs and finding the boat that suits you. There’s something for everyone and we’re going to continue to grow.”

CENTER GROVE SPORTS ROUNDUP

BOYS BASKETBALL WINS RECORD 25TH COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
Center Grove High School (CGHS) boys basketball continued its reign over the county with a record 25th Johnson County title. The Trojans received a first-round bye and then nearly lost to a feisty upstart team from Greenwood Christian. CGHS rallied from a nine-point deficit early in the fourth quarter to beat the Cougars 42-39.
In the championship game, the Trojans had a rematch with Greenwood, who beat them in the season and home opener 73-70. CGHS blitzed the Woodmen in the first quarter of the county final, outscoring them 17-4 and never relinquishing the lead over the next three quarters. Senior Caden Jones came off the bench to lead the Trojans with 21 points and eight rebounds. CGHS
Head Coach Zach Hahn says Jones brings excellent energy to the game.
“He was a spark plug,” said Hahn. “He was on fire. He’s a very explosive athlete. When he gets cooking from three, you have to watch out because he’s such a strong driver also.”
Hahn set the county record for the most county titles with his seventh. He says winning the county means a lot to the county community.
“County is a lot of fun because it’s so competitive,” said Hahn. “It means a lot to everybody in Johnson County. I’m really proud of our guys and look forward to getting better day by day. The goal is always to get better each day, and then by the end of the year, let’s see where we’re at.”
The Trojans begin state tournament play in early March in the sectional, hosted by Decatur Central. CGHS has won 17 sectionals, five of those under Hahn.

BOYS WRESTLING WINS 20TH SECTIONAL
Number-two state-ranked, and nationally ranked, Center Grove boys wrestling won its 20th sectional, which is its fifth straight. It has won nine of the last 11 sectionals. The Trojans accumulated 326 team points, setting the sectional record at Mooresville. Out of 14 wrestlers, CGHS had 11 individual sectional champs, one runner-up, and two third-place finishers. This sectional win was Maurice Swain’s fifth title as the Trojans’ head coach.
“I’m proud of our guys and their effort,” said Swain. “I thought our guys wrestled wellcame out with fire and intensity, and got the job done.”
CGHS finished second to the state’s top

team, nationally ranked Brownsburg, in the regional at Mooresville. Silas Stits and Julian Weems won individual regional titles, and 12 out of 14 Trojan wrestlers advanced to the Evansville semi-state.
We will recap how CGHS does in the semistate and state finals in the April issue of Center Grove Magazine.

GIRLS BASKETBALL ENDS SEASON WITH HEARTBREAKING OVERTIME LOSS
After a highly successful regular season, Center Grove girls basketball was eliminated from the state tournament in the opening game of the sectional at Franklin Central, losing to the host school in overtime 54-47, ending its season at 18-4.
Despite the crushing loss, the girls basketball team accomplished a lot during the 2024-2025 season. The Trojans won the 2024 Johnson County title over Franklin, led by Gracyn Gilliard’s 33 points, and it was Head Coach Kevin Stuckmeyer’s sixth county championship. Gilliard scored 23 points against Plainfield, eclipsing 1,000 points in her career. Ava Grant set a school record for most points in a game with 35 versus Martinsville. Gilliard and Grant earned Carol Tumey Holiday AllTournament Team honors. CGHS had big wins over Franklin Central, Fishers, Roncalli, Danville, Plainfield, Carmel, Columbus North, Lawrence North and Cathedral. The Trojans’ highest state ranking was number four.
CGHS will lose three senior starters: Lilly Bischoff, Emerson Vlcan, and Grant. Vlcan has signed to play college basketball at Hanover, Grant will play at Indiana University South Bend, and Bischoff is undecided.

GIRLS SWIMMING AND DIVING IS SECTIONAL RUNNER-UP
A very young Center Grove girls swimming and diving team improved immensely throughout the season and gained much experience. The Trojans ended the regular season with a 5-3 record and took first in the CGHS Holiday Invitational, second in the CGHS sectional and Johnson County meet, and third in the Hall of Fame Classic.
“I am really excited about what we saw this season,” said CGHS girls swimming and diving Head Coach Brad Smith. “We are a very young team; almost 75% are freshmen and sophomores. We have made tremendous growth from October to the championship season. These ladies will provide a strong foundation for the next few years, and we hope to continue to
build upon the Center Grove swimming tradition.”
CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE CGHS SWIMMERS FOR QUALIFYING FOR THE FOLLOWING STATE EVENTS:
