Victory Strength and Fitness
In 24 weeks, Jon lost: • 74.2 LBS • 13.3% Body Fat • 52.5 Inches
In just 16 weeks, Kelly lost: • 42 lbs • 11% Body Fat • 35 1/2 INCHES
“I’ve completed the 8-week program twice prior to my last program. I knew I wanted to do the program again because otherwise I would be inactive over the winter. Having GREAT success in two previous rounds, I wanted to push myself to get to what I view as my ideal weight.
“I needed a kick start to getting back to being healthy and feeling better. I’ve never done any other programs, I couldn’t find any that felt right. But when I met Bruce at VSF it felt like something that might work, so I tried. After seeing my results and what I’ve accomplished, I’m ecstatic!
The programs at VSF require commitment, but it’s doable for those at every fitness level. It has a proven track record and Bruce and the team will help you achieve results. Bruce is personable and knowledgeable about the program, physiology, and nutrition. All the coaches are encouraging and get excited when they see clients making progress. I’m VERY happy with my results. The program makes you focus on inches lost more than actual weight loss, but my personal goal was to lose 20lbs while gaining muscle AND I met my goal. IT FEELS GREAT!I continue to gain confidence in what I can achieve when I have a goal and work towards it. Look good. Feel good.”
I’ve learned how to balance my nutrition and control my portion sizes. The coaching is great. There is always someone there to answer my questions and help watch my form. I’ve learned proper form and how to increase my weight safely and effectively. I’ve learned how important strength training can be to weight loss and to feeling better. I can’t even begin to describe what it has done for my confidence. I finally feel capable again! If you are on the fence about this program, I say you’ll never know if you don’t try. It’s a great program with lots of information. If you are willing to put forth the effort, it’s worth it!”

When a friend of Kristin Richards complained of having brain fog, low energy and achy joints, Kristin didn’t respond the way that we, as a society, tend to do — by shrugging her shoulders and chalking it up to the inevitable aging process. Although Kristin knew that her friend was experiencing the result of something that is associated with aging, she also knew there was hope. Oxidative stress, the physiological stress on the body that is caused by the cumulative damage done by free radicals, can be reversed by activating all-natural ingredients that aren’t naturally occurring in the body like milk thistle, green tea extract and other natural herbs that have been used for centuries. “In our 40s, we think this is just what it is,” Kristin says. “Things slow down and we gain weight around the middle. But biohacking— doing life better in an allnatural way — is saying it doesn’t have to be this way. You don’t have to accept the DNA you were dealt. You can utilize nutrition to change the way your DNA expresses itself in a way to fight aging.”
Kristin and her husband, Erik, are LifeVantage distributors because they believe in the power of biohacking to transform people’s lives.
says Erik, noting that society has changed dramatically over the past century as a result of exposure to EMFs, pesticides, sunlight/ UV radiation and other toxicities.
“Biohacking is hacking life, essentially,” Kristin says.
“We are activating our natural survival genes in the cell to explode exponentially antioxidant production to protect our bodies from this increasingly toxic environment,” Erik says. “When you activate this pathway, you’re fighting free radical damage to the cell.”
LifeVantage, a nutrigenomics company, is backed by dozens of highly respected scientists, physicians and researchers, including Harvard and Duke Universities, the American Heart Association, the National Institute of Anti-aging, and the National Institute of Health. The studies these institutions conducted were peer reviewed and published in www.pubmed.gov, The National Library of Medicine. Erik stresses, however, that they are not selling supplements or multivitamins. For instance, say you were deficient in iron or calcium. Whereas a doctor might suggest taking a supplement in order to replace the levels that are not there, LifeVantage is all about activation. LifeVantage scientists have synergistically put together all-natural ingredients in a patented ratio that activates processes in one’s cells that are already naturally occurring. “We are activating processes in a cell that God intended our body to do that they, unfortunately, slowed down doing in our mid-30s, and the reason for that is the toxic environment we live in,”
Kristin and Erik are passionate not only about LifeVantage but also about Round2, a ministry they are launching that they hope will dramatically impact our local community anonymously through financial donations. Their audacious goal is to raise that to a global level of impact. “We aren’t out here slinging pills,” Erik adds. “We have a calling on our hearts behind all of this.” “Our message has always been one of hope,” Kristin adds. “We have an opportunity to help you feel better. This is a way to shield yourself and reset yourself without Big Pharma.” For more information about LifeVantage, call Kristin at 317-698-5264 or Erik at 317-450-4789 or email them at Hoosierbiohackers2020@gmail.com.
enter Grove High School’s Class of 2020 is one that will never be forgotten. We are only beginning to understand the impact the COVID-19 pandemic will have on our world. But we can clearly see how it has changed the last months of school for our students. This situation has helped us learn the importance of the little things we take for granted, like the freedom to enjoy a meal in a restaurant or hug a friend. We have learned these little things are the big things. That lesson is one many people never learn. But for our Class of 2020, it is one they will never forget. As a parent of a senior and junior myself, COVID-19 has had such an emotional impact on me as a father. I was looking forward to so many things such as; watching my beautiful daughter Emma participate in Prom and watching her perform in the World Guard International Indoor Percussion Championships at Dayton, Ohio. There is always hope for next year! However, it has been almost unbearable to think that I may not get the opportunity to hand my son, Richie, his diploma as he walks across the stage or to think that we may not be able to have friends and family over for an open house to celebrate his 13-years of education. On the upside, I have had the blessing of being “trapped” with my whole family during this crisis. It has been amazing to get so much time with everyone at home. Our junior and senior are forced to have at least one meal a day with us at the table! Such a small thing in the grand scheme, but something that will be in my heart and soul forever. We have had conversations about the human condition through which I witness the love and passion each of them has for life. We all need to hang on to those blessings. Because I have a senior, I have had the great fortune to get to know so many of our seniors on a more personal level. This makes the class of 2020 extra special for me. I have watched them grow up on the soccer field, football field, and baseball field as well as on the stage or in a performance playing an instrument. I have watched so many of our seniors become Eagle Scouts, National Merit Scholars, and athletic superstars! I share in each parents’ pain and sadness that we lack the closure that usually comes at this time in life. We started our school year, as we do every year, with a theme. This year’s theme is “High Hopes.” Every staff member at Center Grove has High Hopes for the students in our care. As our seniors take the next step in their lives, my hope is that their future is filled with success, friendships, and the joys of many, many big and little things. Sincerely, Richard A. Arkanoff, Ed.D. Superintendent 8 / CENTER GROVE/ MAGAZINE atCenterGrove.com JUNE 2020/ /JUNE CENTER 2020GROVE / atCenterGrove.com MAGAZINE / 8
he 2019-2020 school year is unlike anything I have seen in my lifetime as an educator. The impact that the novel Coronavirus has had on our society is immense, and it will take some time to fully comprehend just how much it has changed our world. However, there are some impacts that were felt by the Class of 2020 immediately. You missed out on many of the final culminating events of the traditional high school experience. Prom was canceled, many of the honors programs and events were converted to virtual events, the IHSAA ended the basketball tournament series prior to completion and spring sports were canceled. Choir, band and orchestra performances and competitions, as well as academic competitions, were all canceled. There is no doubt your high school experience was cut short. While we are all terribly sad that those events could not continue, I want to remind you that none of those things define you or limit your future possibilities. You are a remarkable class of graduates with brilliant minds, compassionate hearts, and unlimited potential to make a difference in the world. You have shown resilience and positivity in a time of crisis and the acts of kindness I have seen you involved in inspire me. I am confident that you have learned from this experience and will use those lessons in your actions, both personally and professionally, as you accomplish your goals and aspirations in the future. I wish you success, good health and happiness as you graduate from Center Grove High School. I hope you will stay in touch with us and let us know how you are doing in future years. Remember to respect and care for yourself, respect and care for others, and remember… It’s Great to be a Trojan! Your Partner in Education, Jeffry M. Henderson, Ed.D. Principal
REMEMBER TO RESPECT AND CARE FOR YOURSELF, RESPECT AND CARE FOR OTHERS, AND REMEMBER… IT’S GREAT TO BE A TROJAN!

CENTER GROVE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TRACK & FIELD SENIOR TRIBUTE The IHSAA canceled the 2020 High School Spring Sports Season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This ended the high school careers for 15 Center Grove Girls Track & Field seniors. We are honoring these outstanding young ladies with this special salute. CG Girls Track & Field head coach, Wes Dodson, had the following praise for his seniors.
AVERIE BAKER “Averie is a new runner to the track team. She was going to be a sprinter. In the first month of practice, it was evident that Averie was really going to help the team. She had already shown that she could run varsity on either of the relays and we were excited to see where things would go.”
TEAGAN BIXLER “Teagan has been a varsity pole vaulter the last three years. She has really progressed with her time at CG. Teagan was a favorite to qualify for the state meet this year. She is going to go on to pole vault next year in college.”
JORDAN CASEY “Jordan has been throwing since her freshman year. She has been a varsity thrower since she joined the team. She loves being part of the team and she loves to compete.”
ALLISON CONKIN “Allie is a distance runner on the track
team. She likes to focus on the 800 meters. Allie is known for her fierce determination and toughness at the line.”
PAIGE DWYER “Paige has always been a runner who is willing to run any race the coaches ask. Everyone knows you will always get her best effort. She always is one of the hardest workers at every practice.”
GABBY ELLIS ”Gabby is an 800 meters specialist that has run all four years. She ran varsity as a junior and led our four-by-800 team to a county championship, blowing all the other girls
on the track away.”
ALAINNA FRANKEL “Alaina came out for the track team for the first time this year. She didn’t have to focus on basketball anymore so she decided to lend her talents to the track team. She was going to be a great 800 meters runner.”
GABRIELLE HARRELL “Gabrielle has been a four-year varsity runner for the track team. She qualified for the regional in all three years of high school. She has run in the four-by-800, 800, 1600 and 3200. She will leave a legacy of one of the most dedicated runners to ever
32 / CENTER GROVE MAGAZINE / JUNE 2020 / atCenterGrove.com
be a part of the team. She is continuing her career at the University of Indianapolis.”
MARIELLE HARRELL “Marielle has been on the track team for four years, but got her first varsity experience last year as a junior. She ran the 1600 meters in the conference meet and ran as a member of the four-by-800 meters. Marielle never let a practice go by where she didn’t get better.”
“Maggie started her track career last year as a junior. She is a sprinter who always brings a great attitude to practice and makes everyone better.”
“Jenna started her track career last year as a junior. She is a sprinter who enjoys challenging herself and making her teammates better.”
KIYAH YEAST
“Claire decided to run track for the first time this year. After dominating on the basketball floor, she wanted to see if she could do the same for the track team. Claire was going to sprint and help the team in long jump and high jump.”
“Kiyah is the most decorated athlete in the history of Center Grove women’s track. She medaled at the state meet all three years it was possible. Last year, she placed third in the 100 meters at the state meet. She is a MIC champion and she is the owner of the 100 meters, 200 meters, and fourby-100 meters school records. She is going on to continue her wonderful career at the University of Louisville.”
SAM RASMUSSEN
MAGGIE JOSEPH
JENNA PARKER
CLAIRE RAKE
“Sam is a 1600 and 3200 meters runner. Sam grew up as a soccer player, but with a ton of hard work, she turned herself into one of the best distance runners at Center Grove.”
ALYSSA TERRELL “Alyssa is an extremely versatile sprinter. She has participated in the 100 to the 400. She was always a young lady who loved to be on the relays and was always ready to run the four-by-400.”
“The 2020 Girls Track and Field class has been a very special class,” Coach Dodson added. “Not only did they win four consecutive Sectionals, but they also had a conference runner-up and a third place finish. They contributed many school records and many appearances in the State Finals. More importantly, they are a wonderful group of women.”

CENTER GROVE HIGH SCHOOL BOYS TRACK & FIELD SENIOR TRIBUTE The IHSAA canceled the 2020 Indiana High School Spring Sports Season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This concluded the high school careers for six Center Grove Boys Track & Field seniors. We acknowledge these outstanding young men with this special tribute. CG Boys Track & Field Head Coach, Eric Moore, Distance Coach Howard Harrell, and Shot Put and Discus Coach, David Mroz, had the following praise for their seniors.
JALEN GOINES “Losing the track season may have taken away a lot of personal goals for Jalen,” said Coach Moore. “He would have of been a four-year track athlete letter winner. Jalen, like his sister and brother, whom both compete for IU track, is headed for IU track. He’s a one of a kind athlete who could compete in five or six events, and I think he would have been the big link for us to win another state title in the fourby-400 relay. His leadership is what I most appreciate about Jalen. He never missed an in-season or out-of-season workout. He is the complete track athlete. His dedication to academics is the best attribute of Jalen as we seldom see a 4.0 student with his athleticism. This is why he won the prestigious IHSAA Football Mental Attitude Award, and in all likelihood, may have won it for the spring season at the State Track Meet as well.
COOPER LIVERMORE “Cooper was eager to return to track this
season in which he would be competing in both the 300 low hurdles and in the four-by-800 Relay,” said Coach Harrell. “Working both on his speed and his endurance, he was destined to set personal records in both events and score multiple points for the team the whole track season.”
ARCHIT MALIK “Coming off his best cross country season, Archit was poised to turn heads this track season in the 3200 meter run,” said Coach Harrell. “His off-season work ethic propelled him to being a contender at the State level. Archit will be running next fall for the Jaguars at IUPUI.”
NICK WILSON “Multi-sport athlete, Nick Wilson, was prepared to make this track season his sole focus,” said Coach Harrell. “His winter running regimen was paying off with a near personal record in the 800 meters in an early season practice. Nick was looking forward to the tournament track season in which he would be leading the team in
three track events, four-by-800 Relay, the open 800, and the open 1600 meters.”
EVAN BROOKS “Evan had the upmost desire to perform to perfection,” said Coach Mroz. “He worked hard in the offseason to do just that, perfect his talent. I saw a skill early on when he first joined our team and I was extremely happy he took it to the next level on his own.” “Though the 2020 senior Boys Track and Field class is extremely small with only six total athletes, it will be hard to replace their leadership and outstanding academic accomplishments,” said Coach Moore. “Track in the spring is a difficult duty for seniors in today’s world. I really appreciate those who come back and represent CG track in the spring of their senior year. This year’s group may be the most improved group from freshman year to senior year. It’s a shame they have had it taken away. We wish them the best as they begin their college careers.”

Sumney has been a physical education teacher at Center Grove for her entire 24-year teaching career. She was chosen by a Franklin College committee from the Teachers of the Year for each building. “Being named Teacher of the Year anywhere would be an honor, but to represent the outstanding school district of Center Grove is a true privilege,” said Sumney. “I am surrounded by outstanding teachers, any of whom could receive this distinction. I feel blessed to be an extension of them, who work together to continually grow in making connections with students and daily go above and beyond to meet the needs of our CG families. I am a better teacher because of this family of teachers of whom I have the privilege of working alongside.” As Teacher of the Year, Sumney will receive $1,000, courtesy of Wallman Financial, LLC to spend in her classroom. She will represent Center Grove in the Indiana Teacher of the Year competition.
