Dan Krzywicki, co-owner of Chilly Water Brewing Company, says he’s excited about his new Center Grove location.
“In terms of the timeline, we’re looking at opening closer to the end of September or possibly early October,” Krzywicki says.
Chilly Water Brewing Company started in June 2014.
“I have one business partner who bought into the company in 2017, Matthew Chandler,” Krzywicki says. “My original business partner and founder of Chilly Water, Skip DuVall, retired from Chilly Water in 2019.”
The Center Grove location has been eagerly anticipated.
“The new Chilly Water Brewing will be 1,200 square feet,” Krzywicki says. “It is a small and modest location in the heart of the Center Grove neighborhood. We will not be doing any production on-site. We will just have a taproom with 10 to 12 draught lines, with a full offering of everything we stock in packaged cans. We will also have a very limited food menu, with the plan to host food trucks fairly regularly.”
Although smaller than the other locations, he says customers will enjoy the atmosphere.
“We’ll have a bar and some communal seating,” Krzywicki says.
“We have a lot of customers that live in the Center Grove
Writer / Matt Keating Photography Provided Dan Krzywickiarea that have been supporting us from day one. We found a spot that fit our needs and decided to invest in this community that has been so supportive of us through the years.”
Chilly Water Brewing Company has been highly successful.
“There is another Chilly Water Brewing Company location in Fletcher Place that has been there since 2014,” Krzywicki says.
“Our flagship brewery has been successful mostly because of the uncompromising quality of the beer. We have always put our product first and foremost, and have resisted the myriad of trends surrounding the industry. We pride ourselves on being one of very few lager-forward breweries in the country.”
Chilly Water Brewing Company’s Taproom near Butler University has also been a huge success since it opened in February 2019.
Krzywicki says putting the product first has resulted in a big following with many loyal customers.
“Aside from the product, our atmosphere has always been welcoming to people of all walks of life,” Krzywicki says. “It’s a very casual spot with friendly service and fair prices.”
Customers have their favorite brews that they order quite often.
“Blood on the Tracks IPA has historically been one of our bestselling beers,” Krzywicki says. “We have some seasonals that also take the spotlight throughout the year, such as Lima Ranchera Mexican lager and Landslide Juicy Peach IPA. We also have recently released Santeria, a light Mexican lager in package and draft that has been very well received.”
Of course, Krzywicki has his own personal favorite drinks as well.
“Personally, I’m a big lager head,” he says. “Our Built to Last pilsner has been my yearround go-to beer. Seasonally, I really enjoy Mama Tried, our dark Mexican lager, and Moonlight Sonata, our Vienna lager. More recently, Santeria has been my go-to. It is just such a clean and crisp lager that leaves

your palate refreshed.”
Food is also popular at Chilly Water.
“Our wings have always been a hit around here,” he says. “You can get them tossed in a variety of house-made sauces. Recently we’ve added the Chilly Water Smash Burger to the menu, which has been a consistent top seller on the menu. Our house salad and fried chicken sandwich are two of my favorite menu items.”
Chilly Water has also won awards for their brews, including Best in Show, Indiana Brewery of the Year, and Grand Champion Brewery of the Year at the Indiana Brewers Cup.
“In 2015 we swept the Indiana Brewers Cup, receiving several medals, as well as all three top awards in the competition,” Krzywicki says. “Since then we have won awards in several regional and international competitions, including Great American Beer Festival, U.S. Beer Open, North American Beer Awards and San Diego International Beer Competition. We have retracted from many of these competitions over the past few years.”
Krzywicki is grateful for all of his loyal customers, which is why he felt Center Grove would be an ideal location.
“We have had a lot of customers asking us to open a spot on the south side for several years now,” he says. “We are excited to invest in the Center Grove community and continue to grow at a manageable rate. We have always been a neighborhood spot from day one. Our taproom in Butler has echoed that vibe, and we feel this new location in Center Grove will continue that trend of creating a neighborhood gathering spot for the local community.”

That’s why we’re proud to be celebrating one year as a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. It’s a collaboration that allows us to amplify our own expertise with the knowledge, experience and resources of Mayo Clinic. Which means you get exceptional care, close to home, at no additional cost. And we think giving our patients that peace of mind is definitely worth celebrating.
More expertise per patient. That’s worth celebrating.
At Johnson Memorial Health, we believe every patient deserves the best care possible.
Jacob Kinney, drummer for the band Dream Slice, says the band is excited about their recently released self-titled debut EP and upcoming album.
He says this has been an exciting time for the band, which is comprised of Greenwood residents.
“We released an EP last year on all platforms, and we plan to release a fulllength album near the end of this year,”
Kinney says. “We have unreleased songs that are going to be on it and new songs we’re working on now. We are very excited to present this to everyone.”
The songs on the album were inspired by many different ideas.
“Most of them are inspired by what we enjoy listening to,” Kinney says. “We mix that with what we are good at playing naturally, and create our own blend of original music.”
Dream Slice is an R&B, alternative, funk and rock band that has garnered a large number of loyal, excited fans wherever they perform in different locations throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.
During the summer, Dream Slice performed at many locations including Greenwood Park Mall, Ale Emporium in Greenwood, Kilroy’s in Broad Ripple, the Boathouse Kitchen & Swan Dive in Cicero, Harley-Davidson in Fishers, Ale Emporium at Geist, the Indiana State Fair
and the Marion County Fair.
Kinney says the band works extremely well together and have formed a tight-knit group.
Peter LaMonaca is the lead singer and guitarist, Alex Poisal plays keyboards and synthesizer, Nick Sayre plays bass.
Members of Dream Slice have known each other since they were kids, from elementary school all the way through high school at Roncalli.
“Alex and I are cousins, so we have always known each other,” Kinney says. “The rest of us met in grade school early on, so we have all grown up together playing music and hanging out.”
Kinney notes that their similar interest and taste in music led to the creation of the band.
“We were really just bored kids with some time on our hands, so we started jamming together,” Kinney says. “Next thing you know we are learning songs and playing shows at a young age.”
Dream Slice loves playing cover songs, and fans also love them. “We are always learning new covers,” Kinney says. “It’s a lot of fun. We play a lot of live cover shows so we know over four hours of crowd favorites right now. We’ve played our original and cover music all over Indy.”
Moira Lawson of Indianapolis saw Dream Slice perform at the All IN Music Festival and was immediately impressed.
“They were very fresh and also familiar at the same time,” Lawson says. “They really perform well together and I love their songs. They were awesome at the All IN festival, and I felt like they really stood out from a lot of the other great bands that were at the festival.”
Nick Stanford of Center Grove saw Dream Slice perform at Ale Emporium in Greenwood, and thought they sounded incredible.
“I listen to a lot of bands and I feel like these guys are really going to go far,” he says. “They perform very well together and I just love their sound. I really want to see them again soon.”
The future looks bright for Dream Slice. “Our future plans are to continue to release new music and to play live shows as much as we can - continue to branch out and grow,” Kinney says.
Dream Slice is always looking for new fans. Kinney says you can listen to them on all streaming platforms and follow them on social media @dreamslicemusic.
Let’s face it. The internet is both a blessing and a curse. Sure, it offers a wealth of information at our fingertips, but Googling is not the way to go when trying to select a Medicare plan.
“It’s tempting for folks to get online and search around, thinking they can pick the right plan without having to talk to anyone about it,” says Jess Carrasquillo, co-owner of Easy Street Insurance.
“While that may seem like the better route, it’s likely just going to leave you confused and overwhelmed.”
The better choice is to keep the laptop closed, and instead create a file with all those Medicare pamphlets that have been piling up in your mailbox. Bring that file with you when you meet with an agent from Easy Street, who promises no cost and no pressure, just sound advice.
During Medicare open enrollment, which runs from October 15 to December 7, seniors are bombarded with commercials, billboards and mail. They need help sorting through the mire. At that first meeting, which typically lasts an hour, the Easy Street agent presents a client with several plan options. When it comes to plan selection, agents need to know three things: the client’s hospital preference, a list of the client’s doctors, and a list of the client’s current medications.
“Those three things help direct us to the plan that’s going to provide the most benefits for your money,” says Carrasquillo, who co-owns the business with his wife, Sandra. The pair has been working in the health insurance industry for more than 20 years, and exclusively in Medicare since 2005. They work with seniors as well as those seeking underage disability.
Many people assume that once you select a plan, you stay on it forever, but that’s not the case. Variables change each year. This is why every fall, Jess and Sandra send out a letter to their clients to let them know that they are available to meet and help them determine if a plan change is in the clients’ best interest.
“Companies are so competitive these days,” Carrasquillo says. “The plan you picked five years ago might not be the best fit, as now there could be other plans that offer richer benefits with more perks and value.”
Just as you would consult an attorney for legal advice or check with an accountant during tax season, it’s wise to talk to a seasoned expert who knows the Medicare field inside and out. Not only do the Carrasquillos take recertification tests each year, but they also work with most companies represented in Indiana. This allows them to know the differences in benefits between plans.
“You wouldn’t know that by Googling,” Carrasquillo says. Remember that when it comes to Medicare plans, one size does not fit all. One size doesn’t even necessarily fit one couple, as it’s not unusual for a husband and wife to be on different plans after age 65.
“There are so many options, so many carriers and so many plans, but each client is unique,” Carrasquillo says. “Some of them are completely unaware how to navigate the industry. That’s where we shine.”
The Carrasquillos, who have lived in Center Grove for nearly 50 years, are a blended family, as Sandra’s first husband passed away from a brain tumor years ago. Jess and Sandra, who have been married for 22 years, have five children between them, four of whom work in the Medicare business.
“Two of them work for us, two of them have agencies in other cities, and the fifth is planning to join the business next fall,”
Carrasquillo says.
Three of their agents who work in Indianapolis and central Indiana are Avery Miller (a Center Grove graduate), Julie Corcoran, and Justin Kozlowski. Each agent takes time to carefully explain how Medicare works in a very simple manner. They all care deeply about their clients and will ensure the client understands all the options available. In addition to Medicare plans, Justin, a Finance and Business Management major, is well versed in Final-Expense insurance and ‘safe money’ planning for retirement.
In addition to Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage Plans and prescription plans, there’s also Immediate Care and Extended Care that clients can acquire. Immediate Care, as the name implies, is for those injuries that require immediate attention, such as a broken bone. Extended Care is about protecting your life, health and wealth.
“There are indemnity products like cancer plans or hospital plans, as well as long-term care and final-expense plans,” Carrasquillo says. “It’s one of those things where people may not know if they need it, but when they do end up needing it, they’re glad they had it.”
In January 2023, Jess and Sandra partnered with Integrity Marketing Group. This partnership allows them to have access to a network of experienced, caring agents in all states, which is helpful if you have a parent or loved one who lives elsewhere.
“You want to have somebody local that you can go to for your Medicare and health care so that if you have a problem, they can resolve it for you,” Carrasquillo says.
Occasionally, clients have a question or situation they cannot navigate with the insurance company on their own so the agents at Easy Street Insurance get involved to help resolve them. Jess, Sandra, and their team provide excellent, ongoing customer service, which is hard to come by in many industries today.
Through the years, the team at Easy Street Insurance has saved people hundreds and even thousands of dollars. Just last year, Sandra met with a 90-year-old veteran who had a supplement that he really didn’t need because he got all his care through a Veterans hospital.
“He was paying $745 a month, which, when you multiply times 12, is $8,940,” Carrasquillo says. “He and his daughter were happy they met with us.”
The agents at Easy Street Insurance go to bat for their clients because they love seniors. “We treat them like they’re all our moms and dads,” Carrasquillo says. “It’s our passion and our mission to help seniors make the right decision.”
For the past 15 years, Carrasquillo has recruited and trained more than 80 agents throughout Indiana. “My passion is helping others grow and develop so they can multiply our vision of helping seniors,” he says.
Easy Street’s main office is located at 8000 South Meridian Street in Indianapolis. They also have offices in Fishers, Brownsburg and Fort Wayne. For more information or to set an appointment, call 317-882-9602 or visit easystreetins.com.

A long-standing tradition on Friday nights in Center Grove is cheering on the Trojan football team at Ray Skillman Stadium.
Kicking off its second year of a new tradition is the Trojan Tailgater.
Jake Stiles, owner of Coldwell Banker Stiles and proud Center Grove dad, teamed up with other local businesses to sponsor the Trojan Tailgater.
“Last year, Matt Greller and Jeff Browning spoke with Aaron Hohlt to get an official tailgate going for home games,” says Stiles. “They approached Andy Shaul and me, and as they say, the rest is history. With all the home games that we have this year, playing powerhouse teams from Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, we felt like this was our opportunity to do things big. Our real estate brokerage is always doing things for the community in general, and so we decided to put something together and have some fun out here.”
Joining Stiles in this effort are sponsors Barn at Bay Horse Inn, Grant Excavating, Rees Restoration and Sauer Dentistry.
The Trojan Tailgater is a 10’ mobile trailer that houses all the essentials for a fun and delicious tailgate. Every week you’ll enjoy hamburgers and cheeseburgers grilled to perfection, as well as hot dogs, all your favorite sides and fixings, and beverages. Cornhole and the arcade game “Blitz” add another entertaining layer to the tailgate experience.
When the Trojans face their opponents as the visiting team, the Trojan Tailgater hits the road too. Locations of where to join them are posted on their Facebook page @trojantailgater.
Back at home, the community rallies around Coach Eric Moore and the Trojans, cheering for a historic fourth Indiana Class 6A state championship. Center Grove is currently ranked first in their class, per the Indiana Football Coaches Association poll.
“Let’s just call it what it is - we like winning,” says Stiles. “But if we don’t come away with a W, we want to come away with other people understanding what our sense of community is.”
And that sense of community is why the food and fun are free to all fans, including those of the visiting team. Center Grove Athletic Director Joe Bronkella extends an invitation with encouragement to join the Trojan Tailgater every Friday.
“We hope everybody does something like this so when we visit, we can join in with other communities’ tailgates,” says Stiles.
Fans who attend Trojan football games experience an event that is unique and unparalleled at the high school level. From the heart-pounding team introduction as they burst through the helmet and take the field, to the blast of the infamous horn, the clanging of cowbells, the roar of the crowd, the fireworks, friends and family - Trojan pride is legendary.
“When you say Trojan pride, it’s a little different over here, because there is that sense of camaraderie,” says Stiles. “Everybody understands it and that statement of Trojan pride, it really means something.”
The Trojan Tailgater sponsors invite all fans to stop by before the game.
“Trojan pride!” says Stiles. “Go Center Grove!”

WOLF WELDING AND MILLWRIGHT
Couch received formal training at Ivy Tech in Indianapolis and honed his craft over the years at a few shops around town, each with a dedicated emphasis.
“My first job after receiving my AWS certification was at a shop specializing in aluminum handrails - industrial railings for sports stadiums and events centers,” Couch says. “These require a specific type of weld and a higher level of craftsmanship. It was at this early stage of my career when I placed an emphasis on perfecting the art of the craft.”
Through the years he ascended the ranks and added more finely tuned skills and specialties to his repertoire. In 2020 he launched Wolf Welding and Millwright, employing AWS-certified journeyman millwrights and pipefitters. They specialize in industrial maintenance, and offer 24/7 on-call services to anyone, anywhere, any time. They bring the shop to you.
At the age of 3, Kyle Couch declared he wanted to be a “worker man” when he grew up. He had a love for the outdoors, and a natural interest in tinkering with moving parts and constructing something from nothing. He also had a remarkable natural artistic talent for drawing, painting and sculpting. It’s no surprise that these attributes led to a successful career as a welder and fabricator.
Wolf Welding’s qualifications and responsiveness would prove critical as COVID-19 created increased demand for online shopping. Conveyors around the country were put to the test as order fulfillment and shipping caused a dramatic increase in conveyor operation, and breakdown.
Word spread through the industry and they were tapped to tackle an emergency repair at a car wash.
“I arrived immediately, diagnosed the issue, performed the repair and had them fully operational by a nearly impossible deadline,” Couch says.
For Wolf Welding, that kind of response was business as usual, but for the client it was unheard of - so impressive, in fact, that Wolf Welding was awarded a national contract.
“In the past three years we have traveled to almost every state in the continental U.S. installing their conveyor systems in new facilities, and repairing and maintaining their existing systems,” Couch says. “With a strong crew and fleet of service trucks, we can confidently install and repair any conveyor system, anywhere.”
In addition to conveyor systems, Wolf Welding and Millwright services include corrugators, paint booths and more. Steel erection in these areas may include the need for a mezzanine or other structural work, and they can tackle it all the way down to handrails.
Pipefitting services include welding, threading and installing gas, steam, sanitary and most other lines. Wolf Welding and Millwright can offer such an array, as they also have experience installing the pertinent machinery and systems, and piping them in.
They also provide a “shift cover” for those who have employees taking time off for a day or a week, and can work their shift when no one else can, or provide an extra hand on a project.
Wolf Welding and Millwright is proud to be a locally operated, family-owned business. Couch’s wife, Laura, chief financial officer, lends her expertise as a trained auto mechanic and former manager of a tire store.
“We are an Indiana, family-owned company,” Couch says. “Our professionalism, reliability and skilled crew are the hallmarks of Wolf Welding and Millwright - our strongest asset. We provide excellent communication, we’re easy to work with, and there’s never been a claim on any of our work. These qualities make Wolf Welding and Millwright leaders of the pack.”
Danna Green, a licensed insurance agent with HealthMarkets, is celebrating her 12th year serving the Center Grove community.
Her office focuses on a customer service mindset and serves individuals, seniors and small groups.
“I love meeting new people,” Green says.
“I really enjoy working with people oneon-one and making sure that I can help them structure their policies to their needs, because not everybody’s needs are the same. It’s like a puzzle trying to
put things together that will be best for the client and their situation.”
Appointments with Green and her team are available in person, by phone or via Zoom. Green says changes occur every year, and HealthMarkets provides agents who can help those needing
coverage through the process.
“We work with all Marketplace plans, and there are a lot of rules that people should be aware of,” Green says. “They don’t want to get caught in a situation, and by coming to us instead of calling the Marketplace and getting a navigator,
we can educate them on what is best for their situation. Guiding people is definitely something we pride ourselves in. Unless you have really been around insurance, it’s very confusing, and we try to take that confusion out of the whole equation. No situation is too confusing for us.”
Green specializes in Medicare as well as life and supplemental insurance. Annual Enrollment for senior products begins October 15 and runs through December 7. Open Enrollment begins November 1 for those under 65.
In addition to Indiana, Green serves clients in several other states including Florida, Kentucky and Texas. Policies and laws vary from state to state, as well as internationally.
“A lot of people are now traveling, and health insurance does not cover people going to visit other countries,” Green says. “We do a lot of travel health insurance policies.”
Her team is currently ranked number one in health insurance nationwide, and is a Platinum Chairman’s Club Member. They work with all major insurance carriers.
Each year, Green and her team do reviews with each of their clients. She recommends scheduling a meeting early, because the calendar will fill up towards the end of the year.
To schedule an appointment or find out more about a free HealthMarkets consultation, call Green’s licensed assistant, Marsha, at 317-695-0856. Green’s office is located at 3100 Meridian Parke Drive, Suite O in Greenwood.
Dr. Tanuja Singh calls herself a “Midwesterner at heart.” Singh was recently named president of the University of Indianapolis after an extensive global search for new leadership. Singh brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in higher education.
She most recently served as provost and senior vice president of academic affairs at Loyola University New Orleans. She says her role there required her to look at academic offerings from a student perspective, and a community and
corporate partnerships view. She worked to bring relevant curricula in a changing environment.
Before that role, she served as dean of the Greehey School of Business for 11 years at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. She says both roles prepared her for her new position at UIndy because they required her to look at the big picture of where the world is going, not just where it is now.
She began her role at UIndy on July 1 and has already started working on her strategic visioning project. She says the Indianapolis is experiencing rapid growth and is one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States.
“In the next three to five years, we want to make sure our educational curriculum is impactful for corporate partners in the business, engineering and healthcare sectors, “ Singh said. “We also want to make sure it’s meaningful for our students because, at the end of the day, we want to make sure they lead meaningful lives
and have something about which they’re passionate. We are also looking to increase our international presence. Some people don’t know this, but UIndy has students from 70 countries worldwide.”
Singh says she is committed to creating more corporate sponsorships between the school and Indiana businesses. She says the College of Health Sciences is very strong at UIndy and is poised to provide talent to the overgrowing health care needs of the state.
“One thing I keep hearing in my meetings with government leaders is that we have the jobs, but we just don’t have enough of the talent to supply the jobs,” Singh says. “Our students are very diverse, which contributes to the social and cultural environment of Indianapolis.”
She says she was attracted to the position and the city because of the high-caliber faculty at UIndy. She’s excited to start working with local high schools to showcase all the opportunities students have at the school.

CarDon’s family serves people on the other side of the age spectrum as well. Solarbron, CarDon’s Evansville community, serves as a sponsor of the Tri-State BackPack Hero program in an effort to provide nutritious meals to local students throughout the school year. The program gives free bagged meals to students K-12 on the Friday of each school week to feed them over the weekend. They also receive these food bags through holidays and summer break.
Aspen Trace, CarDon’s Greenwood community, recently lifted local seniors’ spirits with goodie bags for The Social of Greenwood, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit benefiting citizens aged 50 and over. Another contribution to southern Indiana is the CarDon Walking Club, which is open to the public at Greenwood Park Mall, the College Mall in Bloomington and the Eastland Mall in Evansville.
