FINDING PURPOSE, MAKING FRIENDS equipment she had initially purchased.

Achieving a 10-year anniversary is a huge accomplishment for anyone who owns their own business. Fit Chicks has thrived while creating a community of healthy, happy and strong women. Owner Roz Harris knows what it’s like to face adversity and achieve success through hard work and perseverance. The supportive atmosphere at the personal training studio is a direct reflection of that spirit as clients throughout the years have witnessed each other’s struggles and challenges while offering encouragement. Harris was reeling from the aftereffects of the economic downturn after the housing bubble burst, and was living with an aunt in California when she had the opportunity to buy a fitness center in Fishers. After purchasing it, she realized the business was in a dire situation. It was failing, poorly managed and not what it had represented itself to be. She rebranded the business to Fit Chicks and a two-year legal battle ensued. In the end she triumphed and won the battle to continue on with all the

In the meantime, Harris crafted a unique approach to fitness, nutrition and well-being for women. Her goal was to enable them to gain control back over their life without the hassles and embarrassment from regular gyms. As a result, hundreds of women have met with dedicated trainers who have developed healthy eating plans and tailor-made, individualized workout programs. Along the way, lifelong relationships have formed. “Fit Chicks has been such a blessing to me,” Harris says. “We want to celebrate our 10-year anniversary all year long. There is a reason why these ladies keep on coming back. Six women have been here since the very beginning and two have become friends. Rita Zink, now 76, had never been to a gym before. Michele Smith, now 44, had just received the diagnosis that her young child had learning disabilities.” Both ladies represent the diverse clientele at Fit Chicks. The overall aim is to help women of all ages and backgrounds feel healthy, strong, confident and in control. It’s a place where women feel comfortable versus feeling demoralized going into a big chain gym. Plus, help in getting a diet right is offered free. Putting names with faces and checking up on clients if they miss sessions are personal touches clients love. “If I was going to sum up how I’ve grown personally during the 10 years I’ve been going to Fit Chicks, I would have to say, ‘Walking in new shoes,’” Smith says. “When I first came in I was wearing these crazy old shoes. If I was going to work out at a gym, I had to get new ones. As I got on my new shoes, I 2 / FISHERS MAGAZINE / FEBRUARY 2022 / TownePost.com

had a lifestyle change. Food started to look differently to me. Instead of fad diets, I had the opportunity to make choices.” “I’m most proud of my commitment to my health,” Smith continues. “My daughter as 3 when I started. It was the only time I had for myself. My hubby has always been so supportive of my membership. Thank you, Roz and trainers, for your inspiration. I’ve met some wonderful people with one thing in common over the years - our health and wellbeing. It truly does unite us. When you have a support system and accountability, you can be strong, healthy and so much happier.” Ten years ago, at the age 66, Zink had never participated in a fitness program before she walked in the doors of Fit Chicks. She quickly began to flourish, and with her good attitude and smile, convinced those around her that age was just a number. Today, her plank is known to be one of the best in the studio. She appreciates how the personal trainers let members proceed at their own pace. “I would say that, I’ve grown stronger,” she says. “Even though I’m 76 I don’t feel like it. I’m so much healthier and better off than friends my age. My time at Fit Chicks has been a journey for me and I’ve loved every minute. The women coming in here put a smile on my face and I look forward to seeing them. The team recognizes if we are having a bad day and everything! After years of working out with Michele, we know a lot about each other and she has become like a second daughter to me.” “Thank you Fishers. Your support means a lot to me,” says Harris (not pictured). “Come visit us!”

Owner Lindsay Schloss worked as a social worker, she was able to see firsthand the need to coach women and teach them coping skills in order to improve their situations. A mother of five children aged 5 to 13, she has always had a passion for art and design. Her love of community, family and deep faith all came together in

creating the philanthropy in May of 2019. It operated out of her home until moving into its current site this past October. “Hope anchors the soul,” she says. “Taking a step further, our community is only as strong as we are able to give back to the most vulnerable in it. Our Crew Fellowship is the backbone of the organization. At first the Crew was just my kids. Now the Crew is about 50 volunteers.” The Crew Fellowship is one of the three pillars that the company is based on. Women from centers such as Dove Recovery House for Women, Teen Challenge, and Hope Center Indy become part of the Crew as they make bracelets while being coached on how to live a healthy, full and balanced life. A curriculum based on a Wheel of Life concept, consisting of 10 separate areas, is followed. “It’s like an internship for the women,” Schloss says. “They are coached to set one goal per area to work on, and encouraged to pick a word such as grateful, intentional or perseverance to focus on. All our volunteers are trained and have gone through the curriculum because you can’t teach what you don’t know.” The bracelets made by the Crew enable the pillar of retail. Customers can walk in any time and either purchase alreadymade jewelry or make their own in the philanthropic studio. Many volunteer groups, as well as moms-night-out gatherings, sports teams and Parties with a Purpose groups, have enjoyed assembling their own designs. The pieces come with drawstring bags and are priced at $25 for one, $45 for two or $60 for three. Bracelets available for sale either in the retail space or online are made of a variety of materials such as glass and wooden beads, pearls, precious stones and metal. Varieties are available for children, women and men. They can be worn individually or stacked. The beaded combinations work well paired with the trendy metal cuffs. Prices range from $16 up to about $52 for a stack of three.

Through the partnerships that Schloss has established, the bracelets are sold in boutiques and several different organization websites throughout the country. In addition, several different collections are offered. The Light for Levi Collection includes a white stone bracelet with the word “Light” spelled out via individual beads for $22, as well as a mixed-metal option with the word “Pray” at $28. The Purposeful Living Shine Stack is featured in shades of pink and silver for $42. Other nonprofit fundraising collections include the Patriot, Mason and Londyn collections. Purchasers not only have the ability to buy a piece of jewelry they will enjoy, but they also have a say in what their money will benefit, since 25% of retail profit is donated to other organizations and also used to fund the Crew Fellowship. This collaboration with 40 local and global philanthropic entities is the organization’s third pillar. Some of these partnering nonprofits have partnered with the company to sell the jewelry collections on their websites. TownePost.com / FEBRUARY 2022 / FISHERS MAGAZINE / 9

Gleaners Food Bank, Damar Services and Purposeful Living are some groups that have benefited. Volunteers from the community are welcome. Making bracelets for the organization’s philanthropic partners is a great team-building exercise, and a fun way to accumulate service hours for National Honor Society. The studio room can accommodate up to 35 people at one time. Sign-up opportunities can be accessed on the official website. The website also allows reservations to be made for special events and Parties with a Purpose. Bracelets and collections can be viewed to get ideas on what is possible to create within the philanthropic studio. HopeAnchor & Crew is located at 13578 East 131st Street, Suite 101 in Fishers. LIVING RIGHT IT ’S ABOUT MORE THAN JUST THE WORKOUT AT LIVRITE FITNESS

Writer / Christy Heitger-Ewing Photographer / Brian Brosmer

Changing the world is a lofty goal, but it can be done when you start by committing to changing yourself. Greg Lymberopoulos knows this well. In 1982, he opened his first fitness club. Though he liked the business, he also felt his heart being pulled in another direction - Christian ministry. After much prayer and reflection, he sold his clubs and pursued that spiritual calling. In 2004, his two passions were combined in LivRite Fitness Belleville, Illinois. The journey led to building a new LivRite Fitness, a $6.5 million, state-of-the-art exercise facility in Fishers, IN.

“In short, our mission is to help people live right,” Greg says. “You, individually, are the purpose of our work. Your health, fitness and well-being goals matter most. That’s why when you first step inside our doors, we ask what it is you’re trying to accomplish rather than show you a great facility with state of the art equipment.” The facility accommodates group fitness classes of all types in two fitness studios. There is also an 87-degree swimming pool for lap swimming and aqua fit classes. “The temperature provides comfort and 10 / FISHERS MAGAZINE / FEBRUARY 2022 / TownePost.com

therapy for joint pains that come with age,” Greg says. The club has a sauna, hot tubs and hydromassage beds to provide members with relaxation following workouts. Plus, they have a full-court basketball court for pickup games and tournaments, as well as volleyball and pickleball. They also have a top-of-the-line weight room and cardio equipment, along with a functional training area for boxing and TRX training. There is also an outdoor workout area, and a place for members to run and walk around a pond. In addition, the facility includes

conference rooms that hold Bible studies as well as nutrition and fitness seminars. “You’ll never get bored working out here,” says Michael Lymberopoulos, member representative. “There’s something new every time you work out.” Although the facility has much to offer, Greg insists that it’s not the main reason people join. “People coming together for a common purpose to be healthy and well makes a great community, which will grow friendships beyond LivRite,” Greg says. “We genuinely care about our community. Our focus is to help each individual with their workout journey. We are a fitness center for everybody.” People can experience a real difference when they see the way the LivRite team cares for their members, calling them by name and engaging with them daily in order to see them grow.

Michael maintains that the staff members take great pride in providing not only a high-level fitness facility, but also a welcoming and peaceful atmosphere for members. “We play Christian music in the background,” he says. “It’s definitely a good place for people to reflect and get a good workout in.” All new members are offered a free fitness assessment. Those who elect to get paired with a trainer can sign up for three months, eight months or one year, then extend that plan if they choose. The LivRite team always offers a sincere smile, an encouraging voice and a commitment to care. There are even inspirational quotes, messages and art on a whiteboard near the front desk, so they are the first things guests see when they enter. The fitness trainers love helping members stay consistent with their fitness regimens so that they can reach their fullest potential. “People have a hard time staying on track, but trainers hold you accountable, motivate TownePost.com / FEBRUARY 2022 / FISHERS MAGAZINE / 11

and educate you,” says Rebecca Elliott, a trainer who provides positive feedback to her clients by reminding them of what they can do rather than focusing on what they can’t. “A lot of people show up and say, ‘I can’t do this. I’m not strong. I’m not coordinated,’” Elliott says. “I tell them, ‘I think you’ll be surprised. Look at what you just did. Did you ever think that you could lift that much weight, do that many squats or run that far?’” On the flip side, Elliott is equally inspired by her clients, having watched them overcome all sorts of hardships including surgeries, injuries and illnesses. Their commitment to change can’t help but inspire. “Some of them work out really early in the

morning,” Elliott says. “I don’t know how they do it. I have a client who started changing nutrition hard core and has had great results. She shared her tips with me, and I’ve started following her regimen. I’m not here to tell my clients what to do. We work together as a team.” The staff enjoyed a great reception at their grand opening in January of 2020 before COVID-related shutdowns caused them to close for three months. While many businesses struggled to survive, LivRite Fitness reopened in May of 2020 and thrived. “It felt next to impossible for us to recover and yet we came back stronger than ever,” Greg says, noting that the LivRite team has plans to franchise in the future. “I give all the glory for our success to the Lord Jesus Christ. His faithfulness allowed us to help so many people during an exceedingly difficult period of time. Our diligent and caring staff worked to ensure that each member was cared for, which is the heart of LivRite.” LivRite Fitness is located at 13454 Parkside Drive in Fishers. They also have locations in Anderson and Indianapolis. For more information, call 317-764-2897 or visit livritefitness.com. 12 / FISHERS MAGAZINE / FEBRUARY 2022 / TownePost.com

NEW FISHERS STORE IS THE PLACE FOR ALL YOUR PET NEEDS Writer / Matt Keating Photographer / Robby Berry

Shannon Dorris, manager of PetPeople in Fishers, says pets and their health are more important now than ever before. “It’s been a crazy time for everyone, and having a pet can really help relieve stress,” Dorris says. “One of the great things about PetPeople is that we give everyone a nice neighborhood pet supply store to visit. We have received a very warm reception since we opened. People who have stopped in here could not be friendlier.” PetPeople is one of the newest pet stores in Fishers located at the Fishers District. “We already have a lot of loyal customers who keep coming back,” Dorris says. “It’s been great to see people come in with specific questions and items they are looking for. We have an excellent staff that can answer any questions our customers have about pet nutrition and pet supplies. TownePost.com / FEBRUARY 2022 / FISHERS MAGAZINE / 13

We really engage with our customers, and find out what is best for their particular pets. I think that sets us apart from competitors.” Dorris says dog and cat toys are especially hot items at the store. “One of the other things that makes us unique is that we are also very well known as a store that has nutritious and natural pet foods, treats, and excellent supplies,” Dorris says. “Our pet food products do not have corn, wheat, soy or by-products. We also educate pet owners on a pet’s diet, and how they can eat and live healthier. We also have natural and limited ingredient treats that keep pets (and owners) wanting to come back for more.” The focus on pet nutrition has helped the PetPeople chain flourish. “We have 81 stores now,” Dorris says. “Pet owners appreciate being able to get pet foods that will help their animals be healthier and stronger. We really want them to thrive.” Dorris adds that Fishers is an ideal location. “There are so many wonderful places around here at the Fishers District, and we have had a lot of walk-in business,” Dorris says. “People love to stop in for pet treats and toys. Fishers was selected because it’s such a great place to live that just keeps growing.” Dorris stresses that pets are welcome at PetPeople. “As long as your pet is on a leash, we highly encourage people to bring them in so we can spoil them and make them apart of the PetPeople family,” Dorris says. “We are looking forward to watching the pets that come in here grow and build long-lasting relationships with them and their owners.”

A NEW WAY OF LIVING SOUTH VILLAGE OF NICKEL PLATE PROVIDES A DISTINCTIVE RESIDENTIAL EXPERIENCE Writer / Seth Johnson Photographer / Eli Beaverson

Those looking for urban life in the suburbs need look no further than South Village of Nickel Plate in Fishers. “As a resident of South Village, I can definitely help buyers understand the value of South Village because I’ve not only been a real estate agent since 1995, but I’m also a resident here,” Paul Bates says. “It is a unique opportunity. It’s not a production neighborhood with only a select number of homes you can build.” Located just steps from numerous restaurants, retail shops, the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater and much more, South Village of Nickel Plate is not your typical Fishers neighborhood. A project of Gradison Design-Build, South Village of Nickel Plate offers a city vibe with contemporary construction, while also giving residents the comfort that comes with suburban living. A longtime realtor in his own right, Bates remembers the first time he drove through what would become South Village of Nickel Plate in January of 2017. Impressed by

the neighborhood’s early framework, he decided South Village of Nickel Plate was where he wanted to call home. “I literally hopped on one of the lots right away,” Bates says. “I was the first person to buy a lot because I saw the vision Gradison had. I loved the location. I loved the architecture. I was able to understand that this project was going to take multiple years to complete. However, I wanted to be a part of it.” When it comes to the architecture, Joe Gradison of Gradison Design-Build says his team was very intentional with their innovative approach. “We actually had a little bit of influence TownePost.com / FEBRUARY 2022 / FISHERS MAGAZINE / 15

from the mayor and his planners as to wanting something that was a little bit more unique and a little bit more forwardthinking, given their embrace of the technology industry and the mindset of that demographic,” Gradison says. “We wanted to create something that would be in sync with how they would like to live, providing them an opportunity to have that live-work situation.”

With this approach, Gradison explains that South Village of Nickel Plate is home to people of various demographics. However, these individuals all share a similar, energetic mindset. “The architecture creates a common bond, so there’s some like-mindedness that happens,” Gradison says. “Oftentimes in housing, the demographics are similar. In this case the demographics are a wide

“Ultimately, what’s going to happen is downtown Fishers is going to look like downtown Carmel,” Bates says. “The Nickel Plate Trail is going in, so downtown Fishers is rapidly becoming a destination, and South Village, where I live, is the one unique opportunity. You can’t find land, so what Gradison is doing is the one unique opportunity to build a brand-new house next to the Nickel Plate District, and all the redevelopment that’s going in.” For more information on South Village of Nickel Plate, visit SouthVillageNickelPlate. com, or contact Kara Shipman with Gradison Design-Build at 317-258-6560 to check on availability or schedule a tour.

There’s nothing we wouldn’t do for the health and well being of our fellow Hoosiers. But sadly, COVID-19 has tested the limits of what health systems can accomplish on their own. And now, almost two years into the pandemic — desire, expertise and modern medicine are simply not enough.

We need help. Your help. The situation is dire. We have more patients in our hospitals than we have beds. We’re converting available units into critical care wards, just to make room. And as you know, the entire healthcare industry is operating on a short staff, which means our caregivers are running out of steam. It’s a daily challenge to treat incoming COVID-19 patients, as well as those who suffer from strokes, heart attacks, car accidents, cancer and appendicitis. We need action. Right now. Here’s what you can do:

Get vaccinated. Get boosted. Get tested. Get masked. And please remember, if you have a mild case of COVID-19, call your doctor or go to a MedCheck/Urgent Care facility. Do not go to an emergency room, as we’d strongly prefer to save those beds for the very sickest and most in need of immediate attention. Our strength is in our ability to come together. And it is together, that we will finally see our way out of this.

“I’ve been observing Allen for the past several years and feel very comfortable transitioning my business to him,” says Richwine, who has no plans to retire. “Short-term, it will be business as usual for me, but long-term, I’ll be able to focus more on selling real estate and have Allen’s help managing the team and operations.”

Going forward, Dick Richwine’s name won’t be on the leaderboards anymore – the new team will report all their sales under Allen Williams.

“If there was a Mount Rushmore for real estate, Dick’s face would be on it,” Williams says. “Merging with Dick’s group allows us a path to grow our business the right way, and now I have a mentor to learn from so that I can continue to grow and learn. HEROIC EFFORT LOCAL STUDENT COMPETING IN ANNUAL LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY CAMPAIGN Writer / Julie Yates Photographer / Amy Payne

HSE senior and leukemia survivor Luke Andritsch

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Students of the Year campaign is an annual, seven-week fundraising competition that requires participants to develop their leadership and organizational skills. Individuals must be nominated and selected to compete with each other while heading up a series of activities that raise money to benefit the LLS. Many have firsthand experience of how these illnesses can impact a family and turn normal lives upside down. This is the case for Hamilton Southeastern High School senior Luke Andritsch, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a type of blood cancer, when he was 3 years old. “Immediately after, LLS stepped into my family’s life providing resources about what the next couple of years were going to look like for us,” Andritsch says. “LLS’s mission has always been to cure blood cancer but

they also work to improve the welfare of kids who are going through it. That is why I chose to sign up for LLS Students of the Year campaign, because they make such an impact on a child’s and family’s life from all different aspects. They had that effect on me and I hope my efforts help another family have the same effect.” Being chosen to be a competitor in Students of the Year campaign has been on the radar for Andritsch ever since he was a freshman in high school. His family has been involved with LLS efforts to raise money for research. Besides participating in half-marathon and triathlon fundraisers, Andritsch’s mother, Vicky Andritsch, won 2017 Woman of the Year, which is a similar LLS campaign for adults.

vie to see who can raise the most money during the campaign, which runs from January 20 to March 11. The competition closes during an event attended by the students’ teams and supporters. The winner is announced, but all celebrate that the funds raised will go towards finding a cure. “I wanted to wait to be in the program because I knew as I matured, I would be able to do this to the best of my ability and have more connections to go full-in and raise as much money as possible,” Andritsch says. “Of course, this is a competition but the other candidates and I have the same goal of ending this horrible disease. Every three minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer, so we are all motivated that no individual must hear this horrible news.”

LLS leaders selected several candidates from Andritsch and some of his team members the central Indiana region. These individuals chose to do a 4x4x48 challenge. It involves TownePost.com / FEBRUARY 2022

waking up at 4 a.m., running four miles, and then repeating the run every four hours for 48 hours. His team of multigenerational members has planned other novel ideas to generate donations. Andritsch, who has been growing his hair out for two years in anticipation of a fundraising event, plans to cut it all off when a monetary goal has been met. In addition, the team members are doing a competition of their own by

splitting into groups to see who can get a donation from each of the 50 states. “We have a lot more planned like dine-todonates, fun runs, music concerts, letter and email campaigns, and everything in between,” Andritsch says. “The best way to learn about upcoming events is to go to my Instagram or Facebook. I have a fundraising page where people can donate and get updates on how the campaign is going.”

Andritsch and his team have set a fundraising goal of $175,000. If met, it will set the record for the most money raised by a student in Indiana. All the money raised goes straight to the LLS and the research they are conducting. “LLS invests so much in research because currently the cancer treatments that kids must take are intended for adults,” Andritsch says. “At least 80% of childhood blood cancer survivors develop a chronic health condition from the toxic treatments, which is why LLS and I are so determined to raise money so kids who have to fight this horrible disease don’t have to deal with conditions for the rest of their life. Someday the treatment that I went through will be considered barbaric.” “It is my number-one goal to help fund the research LLS is doing,” he continues. “Please consider donating. We aren’t going to wake up one day with cancer cured. It is going to take the hard work of everyone, not just doctors, scientists or me. It takes every single person to bring an end to this horrible disease. By donating you can become a part of the generation that will bring an end to cancer.”

JAGGA RENT NAMED NEW PRINCIPAL OF HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN INTERMEDIATE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL Story & Photo Provided

Students, teachers, and staff at Hamilton Southeastern Intermediate Junior High (HIJH) started 2022 under new building leadership. Jagga Rent, who has served as assistant principal at Hamilton Southeastern High School for the past three years, was recently selected as the new principal of HIJH. The position became available following the retirement announcement of long-time principal Tim Mankin.

Prior to his role as assistant principal, Rent worked closely with students as a dean at Hamilton Southeastern High School from 2014 until 2018. His career in public education spans a total of 15 years. Rent earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Ball State University in 2006. His Master’s Degree is in Education Administration, also from Ball State (2014). “I am so humbled and excited to begin this journey with the students, teachers, staff members and families of Hamilton Southeastern Intermediate Junior High,” Rent says. “My goal is to continue the TownePost.com / FEBRUARY 2022 / FISHERS MAGAZINE / 25

tradition of academic excellence for the students we serve. My hat goes off to Tim Mankin on a tremendous career and time of service to this school community. I am also appreciative to superintendent Dr. Stokes and her team for this opportunity. My family and I are excited to be Panthers!” “Mr. Rent’s passion and desire to lead the next generation of youth is an asset, and I believe HIJH is getting someone who will continue to do great things for this school,” says superintendent Dr. Yvonne Stokes. Rent’s first official day was January 3.

“We have an overabundance of patients, which is great,” Lexi says. “We have so many small-business owners who have been extremely supportive by sending their friends and relatives to us. Our growth has always been organic and through word-ofmouth advertising. What has always been so surprising to me is the number of patients who aren’t local. We have patients from out of state, and this past year we’ve even gotten patients from outside the country.” The growth of the practice has led to a need for additional space in her current office location in Noblesville. Lexi and her husband Min, Director of Operations, started researching for a new, larger office space for the future. “We decided to build a new building so we could design it for our specific use,” Lexi says. “Currently we’re housed in approximately 1,600 square feet. This new building will be around 24,000 square feet, and we’ll occupy about 10,000 of it. Our goal is to rent the rest of the space to one or two other tenants.” The new building will be located in Noblesville near the intersection of 146th Street and Cumberland Road, and should be completed by the end of 2022 or early 2023. The Yoo Direct Health staff aims to offer additional services in the new space beyond the basic medical model, including regenerative medicine. Instead of injecting a patient with hydrocortisone to manage knee pain, Lexi might utilize a patient’s plateletrich plasma (PRP). The practice is unique because it offers wellness services and medical-grade aesthetics. Those medical-grade aesthetics include services like PDO threads. The staff at Yoo Direct Health can tailor services around the client’s goals and preferences. “Our goal at the practice is whatever is best for the patient and whatever is the preference of the patient,” Lexi says. “We might have someone come in for aesthetics and say they want to live a completely toxinfree life. Instead of Botox we might do PRP.” The team at Yoo Direct Health is passionate about providing the most current, highquality, evidence-based medicine possible for every patient they see. Those phrases, including “We Change Livez” and “It’s A Lifestyle,” certainly hold true for the couple who not only recently got married, but also introduced the franchise to Fishers a few weeks later. Specializing in healthy food options, the chain offers fresh meal-plan ordering, an eat-in café and a frozen grab-n-go market. Cassie was living in Knoxville, Tennessee, when she first discovered Clean Eatz. She was having some health problems and knew she needed to make some changes. Discovery of the meal plans made a huge difference in her life. “I needed to clean up my diet,” she says. “I had started to do meal prep, which meant 28 / FISHERS MAGAZINE / FEBRUARY 2022 / TownePost.com

The Leifels married in August of 2021 and opened Clean Eatz in September. Cassie, who has personal training and group fitness instructing certifications, and Jeff, with his business and financial background, together manage the business. Each Thursday a new meal plan comes out for customers to select from. Options cover those interested in lowfat, low-carb or ketogenic diets, and those who want additional protein to bulk up. There are vegetarian options as well. Frozen Grab-n-Go meals are always available, while the cafe specializes in made-to-order

bowls, wraps, salads, burgers, flatbreads and smoothies. “If someone comes in and needs advice on what to order, I can point them in the right direction according to their goals,” Cassie says. “They can try certain meals, see what results they get and go from there.” “Everything is labeled with macro nutrition information,” Jeff adds. “It is very easy to track fat, calories, protein, and carbs. We have a mix of families and individuals that are regular customers. One dad with a new baby and two other children told me, ‘I don’t care what the kids grab from the fridge because I know it’s all healthy.’ The more a family orders, the more the prices of the meals go down.” The price for five meals is $41.00, or $8.20 per meal. If 21 meals are ordered the cost is $137.00, or $6.50 for each meal. The Taco Pasta with light cheese, veggies and beef is popular. Customers also enjoy the Chicken Pesto Alfredo, as well as the Steak and Cheese Omelet. Customers can sign up on the company’s website to receive emails alerting them of the meals available for order Thursday through Sunday at midnight. decided to do the partnership with Scannell.” The community consists of 190 apartments, most of which feature one or two bedrooms, as well as one studio apartment, according to Carr. “The square footage starts at 742 and goes up to 794 in our one-bedrooms, and then our two-bedrooms start at about 1,165,” Carr says. “They go up to 1,307. All of our common living space and hallways are laminate wood flooring. We do have granite countertops and then the bedrooms are carpeting. We do have some stand-up showers in a couple of our two-bedrooms. All of our units come with washers and dryers.” Select units also feature patios and balconies. In addition to the living spaces, Pullman Pointe also boasts various luxury amenities on-site. The complex clubhouse features a Wi-Fi lounge and a conference room, as well as a fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment. “We originally were going to do a yoga room, and then kind of changed it up with more CrossFit equipment,” Carr says. “We have cycling bikes and all sorts of cardio [equipment].” The clubhouse also features a pool table, a foosball table and an air-hockey table. A swimming pool is located at the center of the complex where tenants can relax and unwind. The swimming pool area also features a hot tub and putting green. Additional amenities include Amazon package lockers, a dog-washing station, as well as a bike storage area that has equipment ready for tenants who need to do repairs on their bikes. Pullman Pointe’s location is an easy bike ride away from various Fishers restaurants, shopping centers and other entertainment hubs. Carr says, long-term, residents of Pullman Pointe won’t need to leave the property 32 / FISHERS MAGAZINE / FEBRUARY 2022 / TownePost.com

FLIP OUT MOTHER-DAUGHTER DUO REPRESENTS FISHERS HIGH SCHOOL IN GYMNASTICS Writer / Renee Larr Photographer / Amy Payne

Susie and Savannah Strange

One mother-daughter duo is flipping over their shared passion for gymnastics. Susie Strange grew up participating in the sport in Marion, Indiana. “I was a gymnast growing up,” Susie says. “I began coaching at the age of 13 while still competing. I tore my PCL and meniscus at age 15, which took me out of competition.” Susie took up judging at age 18 while still coaching and attending college. “I continued with coaching but I wanted to have another outlet for the sport,” Susie says. “Coaching was a lot of night and weekend hours so I got into the judging side of things. I’ve been judging competitive gymnastics for USA Gymnastics for quite some time. I enjoy it because you can do as much or as little as you want.”

gymnastics. It’s so much fun because there are so many different events you can try.” Now, a 17-year-old junior at Fishers High School, Savannah participates in a Diamond-Level club team at DeVeau’s School of Gymnastics in Fishers. “Savannah has competed for multiple gyms throughout the years,” Susie says. “When her previous gym closed in March of 2020, we moved over to DeVeau’s. She spends about 12 hours a week practicing.” The duo discussed Savannah’s love of competing and Susie’s passion for coaching, creating the first high school team at Fishers High School.

Susie’s daughter Savannah took a liking to the sport at a young age.

“You don’t have to have a special certification to coach,” Susie says. “Any parent that is willing can coach. I told her if she was willing to do it, I was willing to coach her.”

“I’ve been competing in USAG and been on a gymnastics team since I was 9,” Savannah says. “Gymnastics is something that stuck with me through all these years. I’ve tried other sports but I always circled back to

She participates as an individual representing the school, without having a competitive team, and she is recognized as a sanctioned, competing entity by the Indiana High School Athletic Association. TownePost.com / FEBRUARY 2022 / FISHERS MAGAZINE / 35

“I met with the athletic director at the school and he was fine with Savannah and I doing this,” Susie says. “He was very helpful. I tell him which meets we can participate in and he signs us up. I’m doing the coaching, the planning and the driving.” Susie tries to keep her mom role separate from her coach role. “I try to keep those hats separate so it gets challenging,” Susie says. “At the end of the day she is my daughter and she is a teenager, so she doesn’t necessarily always like my critiquing or words of wisdom, but she does respect my coaching, judging and participation in the sport. We’re both passionate about the sport, so that helps.” Savannah hopes the endeavor will spark interest for others to join. Both mother and daughter would love to see a larger team in the future, and would need approval from coaches and the school board, with gym access. “I thought this was a good opportunity to do something new,” Savannah says. “I get to compete in twice as many competitions. I’m up for having more members on my team. I know it would be a lot of work to go through with the school, but I’d like to see it happen.”
