March Madness kicks off with first-round action on March 16. Geist & Fishers have plenty of great, local spots to catch all the buzzer beaters and Cinderella stories.

Come for March Madness and stay for the beer and Hermanaki wings. Anyone who has been to the original Ale Emporium location in Castleton knows it’s a great spot to watch any sporting event. Throw in the fact that the new Northside location just recently opened in Mid-February, and it is sure to be a popular choice come March Madness. The bar is jam packed with flat screen TVs, and, at the very least, if your team gets upset early on you can drown your feelings in pounds of Hermanaki wings.

Murphys Craft House opened early in 2017 and has experienced success. The location is a spacious, open bar with plenty of flat screens, making it a great spot for March Madness. Not to mention, the food is underrated with a great menu (we recommend the Bourbon Pork Pretzel or Honey Buffalo Chicken sandwiches, or the Murphy Frisco burger).

Fishers newest sports bar and entertainment space is sure to be busy come March. With bars on the second and third floors, the space is primed for sporting events. If the weather is nice, the rooftop bar is a great spot to grab some drinks and catch the game. Each bay comes with TVs on both sides, meaning you can also watch your favorite team while smashing some golf balls to the back trenches for the longest drive. With menu options like Chicken & Waffle Sliders, Brisket Grilled Cheese and Injectable Donut Holes, you also won’t leave hungry.

The Geist bar & restaurant is a local favorite that recently celebrated five years in January. With more than 35 plasma TVs, you should have no worries about whether your team’s game will be on at the bar. The Loaded Tots and Buffalo Chicken Dip are perfect gameday appetizers. Leigh Ann Peercy has always been a collector of antique items. So, when the opportunity to open up her own antique shop came, she jumped at the chance.

Peercy's store recently opened this past December and is located at 12050 E 65th St., right across from the Oaklandon Post Office. If you are having trouble finding the old house turned antique store just look for the vintage 1947 Plymouth parked out front. The old, black car is tagged with the Aura Luna Vintage logo on the side, making it hard to miss.

“I’ve always been a picker, a junker, an antique hunter, and I love collecting old stuff,” Peercy says. “My collection eventually got too large, so I decided to start sharing “Our ’47 Plymouth is our mascot,” Peercy it with others. The store’s namesake also has some family history tied into it. Peercy’s great grandmother’s name was Aura, and several old pictures of her are at the location as a nod to her family history.

“Most people fall in love with antiques remembering their grandparent’s stuff, and I did too,” Peercy says.

The new antique shop is packed with antiques for pickers and collectors.

Peercy says there are options for whatever customers may be looking for. Aura Luna houses items such as vintage Hoosier cabinets for storage in kitchens and dining rooms, mid-century modern lamps and couches and more.

With the store being located at the corner of E 65th and Pendleton Pike, it’s in a unique spot that Peercy says can be a Lawrence or Indianapolis address. It is a spot she is hoping people will start to notice more as they are coming down E 65th during their workday or weekends.

“We even have a man-room with items that men might be interested in,” Peercy says.

“We’ve also got a kids room with some vintage toys and vintage baby items. There is “This is so much fun being in this area,”

Peercy says. “Fortville is right near us and such an up-and-coming place with shops opening. Just down the road is McCordsville where Second Stories, another antique shop, recently opened a little bit before us. We are really looking forward to being in this east side location and shoppers coming out this way. There is a lot of revitalization going on out in this area.”

The aroma of perfectly cooked meatloaf fills the room. From another oven comes a steaming casserole dish of bowtie pasta with grilled chicken and vegetables. It’s only 9:30 a.m. and I’m already hungry for dinner.

For nearly 10 years now, Chef Suzanne and her staff have been feeding hungry clients that range from folks with special dietary needs to special events like weddings or showers. But as frenetic as the kitchen is right now, it’s much more stable than in the early days of the caterer’s humble beginnings.

Chef Suzanne Rockwell emerges, greeting me with a friendly smile and warm hug. But then, who wouldn’t accept a hug from a chef bearing delicious food? The Chef Suzanne Catering kitchen is buzzing with five or six people preparing dozens of meals to go out the door. Sadly, I’m not one of the recipients of such a special delivery, so I wake from my dinner dream and glumly take a sip of my bottled water.

Rockwell began her catering business during one of America’s most challenging economic times. In 2009, she was working as Executive Chef at the Fox Pub and Grill when the owner closed the restaurant.

Suddenly finding herself without a job, she threw caution to the wind and pursued her dream of opening a catering business.

Rockwell scouted kitchens for a place to call home base. When she found one at the

Sterrett Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison, she approached an old friend of hers to ask if she could rent the kitchen space. Paul Ricketts, then the Republican Mayor of Lawrence, granted her approval to rent the space.

The popular event venue was a lucky score for Rockwell’s launch and rampant speculation ensued that she was granted the approval as a political favor from Ricketts.

“There was no political favor,” she says. “I’m actually a registered Democrat. Paul helped me because we were friends.”

Suzanne and her team ramped up rather quickly, becoming successful enough to make the rent payment. Grateful for the

opportunity they’d been given, Suzanne and her staff gave back to the community generously. They painted the cabin at Jenn Park in Lawrence as a service project, held barbecues every Friday at the Sterrett Center and donated money to the Lawrence community for fireworks and other uses.

Within 18 months, Chef Suzanne Catering outgrew their Sterrett Center kitchen. The next stop on their journey was Indian Lake Country Club. The country club needed a new Executive Chef, and Rockwell needed a new kitchen for her catering business.

They worked out a solution allowing Rockwell and her staff to use the kitchen in the morning to conduct her catering business, then turn her attention to the club for lunches and dinners. Rockwell and her staff were able to manage the juggling act for 18 months.

The team then made a brief stop in the kitchen at Geist Christian Church.

During their six-month stint, the business continued to grow, and they bought the kitchen new microwaves, a dishwasher and other items. Unexpectedly, a golden opportunity arose for Chef Suzanne Catering to find a permanent home. The father of one of the chefs on staff was building office suites at Windermere and needed a tenant. Rockwell jumped at the chance, delighted at the prospect of having a place they could call their own.

The timing was perfect. The building was under construction and close enough to the beginning stages to allow Rockwell to make design specifications to accommodate a consultation area, kitchen, storage, an office and more.

Since then, Chef Suzanne Catering continues to thrive, continually adding to the services they offer. The business continues to offer catering services for private or corporate events. Weddings and showers, holiday parties or other events are still their specialty.

“One of my favorite weddings was a bride and groom who came from opposite coasts,” Rockwell says. “The bride was from California, the groom was from Maine and

they met in the middle. We did a West coast meets East coast menu. It was really fun.”

Besides private parties, Chef Suzanne Catering has lots of other secret ingredients on the menu. The chefs put on “Pop-Up Dinners” for clients, inviting them to the Chef Suzanne kitchen for a special night of food and fun. For home cooks on the ambitious side, cooking classes are available at the Chef Suzanne kitchen. To spice things up a little, Chef Suzanne Catering offers program called the “Top Chef ” competition for private corporate team building events.

The caterer’s niche of preparing meals for clients with special dietary needs like allergy clients, diabetics, cardiac and oncology patients and even seniors was the special sauce that paved the way for the introduction to the Colts players.

“I connected with a nutritionist that works for St. Vincent’s, and she connected me to the Colts.”

Chef Suzanne not only connected with the Colts but other players in town for the NFL Combine.

“Through the Colts, other agents heard The hottest new dish cooking in the Chef about us and looked us up,” she says.

It’s rare when a chef can hit the jackpot for everyone like Mikey with Life cereal, but Chef Suzanne sure tries hard to nail it.

“We ask all our clients to fill out a survey that identifies their preferences,” Rockwell says.

“But for the Colts clients, we did a culinary boot camp where we set out a wide variety of veggies and fish and new things for them to try. It was really fun, and they loved it.”

While Chef Suzanne continues mixing things up in the kitchen, she’s never lost her spirit to give back to the community.

Through School Community Liaison at Harrison Hill Elementary, Neal Gore, she became involved with preparing meals for Family Engagement nights at the school.

Twice a week, the school, which is largely low income families, holds a night for activities for the whole family to join like arts classes, karate, chess and Zumba. The program is free and dinner is served. Gore needed help with the dinners and he knew exactly who to ask.

“I started off committing to just one night,

but as of now, we’ve provided more than 7,500 meals,” Rockwell says. “But it’s so worth it when those kids come up to you and give you big hugs and show their gratitude.”

She also supports Noble of Indiana, an organization which helps disabled people find jobs by helping them with their fundraiser, “Noble Eve in the Garden.”

Plenty of other charities are on her shopping list as well, like The Taste of Hope for the Hope Academy for Addiction and St. Simon School fundraisers, just to name a few.

“Charities are important to me, because every time we help a charity, we get something back in return,” Rockwell says.

Approaching the 10th anniversary for the catering company, Rockwell contemplates plenty more meals to be prepared and considers the possibility of planning a celebration. But already, she’s clear about

her recipe for the milestone’s goals.

“I’d like to see our construction loans paid, give back to all the friends who’ve helped us along the way, continue giving back to charities and just be ready to stand on our own,” she says.

There is a growing bullying epidemic and it is impacting millions of people each and every day. The majority of bullying occurs at school, outside on school grounds, during recess, after school, in school locker rooms and on practice fields. As a result of TV and news organizations reporting about some of the most egregious stories the public is well aware of the problem but at a loss for how to address it. The challenge is not awareness now, it is actually helping the public take action by understanding the issue and by involving teens in the solution.

Cathedral High School launched an anti-bullying program over a decade ago incorporating student-trained leaders called PROJECT I.R.I.S.H. The acronym stands for Instilling Respect in Stopping Harassment. The goal was multi-faceted, identify the depth of the problem, help students own the issue and invite them to share the message in the community.

“There wasn’t a national spotlight on bullying like there is today,” Lee says.

“So, I worked with a dedicated team of staff, teachers and outside advisors to do something about it. It is inspiring to see that this program is not only continuing but thriving and making a difference in the lives of so many.”

In December of 2017, the student leaders of PROJECT I.R.I.S.H., Cathedral High School’s anti-bullying student-run organization hosted a retreat for area junior high students. Cathedral students are trained to go out to area junior high schools and give presentations to discuss the topic of bullying and offer support and awareness to inspire change. The December antibullying retreat was the largest so far and the result of the school and the students’ dedication to the mission of the program.

On this day, Brent was invited back as the keynote speaker. This was a full-circle moment and one that Brent embraced, returning to the campus as a successful

corporate executive ready to empower the room full of junior high students why this mission was important to him.

Brent wanted to share with the student leaders and attendees why their work was so important and what he hoped they would get from the retreat.

“The details of what happened to me are unimportant now, but what is more important for each of you to know is that this problem happens to a lot of people but believe me when I say, it will not last forever,” Brent said at the retreat. He knows how important it is to have support and to share this message, inviting the participants to take the information they learn back to their schools to share the information to help change the culture.

Brent shared that he was blessed to have the support of family, especially his mother, Kim, to support him during this time. Unfortunately, many victims of bullies do not have someone to tell and an overwhelming amount, upwards of 64 percent, never report it. This can lead to isolation, anxiety, depression and have tragic long term or permanent consequences.

No one knows that better than a parent whose child is being bullied.

Kim, a former executive with Walker, a global marketing research firm immediately began the process by gathering information about the student population. Her research helped her to discover that when she asked if anyone had been bullied that the number of students that checked the box was quite low. It wasn’t until she described specific bullying behaviors that she was able to learn the magnitude of how many students had been affected by bullying and why it was so important to have the students become educated.

For the last three years, 250 students and 36 teachers have partnered to work on MASK. This year they hope to use money raised at the Fun Run to start projects that MASK kids can begin to sustain. They hope to start an income-generating program that will utilize their talents and abilities with carpentry, sewing, pottery, raising chickens and goats and more.

“When Alice comes back from Kenya and shares stories and pictures from children we have helped, it make a real-world experience with these young students,” Kays says. “Our students learn that their world is bigger than just our school. What a reward it is to help our students grow in God's love.”

“Our goal is for the students to do a technical engineering pitch for the design of their prosthetic hand,” Vander Missen says.

“This is a true budget pitch which prepares them to move forward both on an academic grade for work they have done, research and analysis for the engineering design work behind it. This is also approval to move forward, which is exactly what we do in industry and engineering before you move forward with the design.”

The design names alone would excite most young children as they appear to be ripped right out of a comic book. Some names are Cyborg Beast, Talon Hand and Raptor Hand, and they look like limbs of a Transformer with bright eye-catching fluorescent colors and some can even glow in the dark. The children who have received

them get attention for these superherostyle devices but, most importantly, they can begin to do the tasks they once only wished they could do.

The parts for each prosthetic hand costs about $20-$50 to make. They are assembled with volunteers, in this case Cathedral Engineering III students. The school has one 3-D printer but would like to have more so they are able to respond to the needs in a timelier manner. Vander Missen hopes to partner with a local engineering firm in the future.

Cathedral students successfully presented their budget pitches and will move forward with the certification process. Cathedral Junior, Jenna Helmen explained what this project meant to her.

“It was really cool to see how everything we are learning in this class can be put to use to work on a project knowing that when we get certified, that it will help a family in need,” Helmen says.

“The heart of engineering is solving problems for the community, and because Cathedral’s Engineering Department is founded on Holy Cross values and looking at what we can actually do for the world and the community,” Vander Missen says. “We are empowering students in engineering classes and STEM classes to make a real difference right now with real problems that we have so this is not a hypothetical problem.

Rather, this is a family whose child is in need of a prosthetic hand, and we are preparing our students to solve that problem. I am very proud of these students’ efforts.”

Once the students and the school are certified, any requests that come from within the community, the students and the school will be ready to make a difference. In the meantime, the students are prepared for whatever the future holds in store for them.

OUT OF THE DARKNESS The Peyton Riekhof Foundation for Youth Hope Supports Students Who are Struggling with Mental Illness Writer / Christy Heitger-Ewing

When you lose a loved one to suicide, for a time you lose hope. You struggle to breathe, to sleep, to think, to function. It’s how Mike Riekhof felt when he lost his teenage daughter, Peyton, to suicide in 2013. And if he felt this bad, he couldn’t imagine the pain his daughter must have carried to make her fatal choice.

According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), suicide claims nearly 45,000 lives annually. When Riekhof

emerged from the fog of grief, he was compelled to help youth in the area who found themselves drowning in darkness and despair. So in 2014, he founded the Peyton Riekhof Foundation for Youth Hope.

“I knew there had to be some change in our community in terms of how mental health was viewed and how mental health illnesses can be fatal,” says Riekhof, who even though he was in the healthcare field (he works for a pharmaceutical company), didn’t know the warning signs of clinical depression. Plus, as so many do, Peyton hid her agony well.

“She was this very happy person on the outside, but on the inside, she was hurting every day, fighting depression, anxiety and insomnia,” Riekhof says.

Riekhof partnered with the HSE and Fishers High administrators to start antistigma clubs in the schools. Participants proudly wear their anti-stigma t-shirts, which are paid for by Riekhof ’s foundation.

“It helps de-stigmatize the disease of depression and other mental health illnesses,” says Riekhof, noting that the

“HSE schools are so grateful for the partnership we have with the Peyton Riekhof Foundation. Students have benefitted greatly from the support groups.”

HSE club has 70 members. “I’ve seen a big change in students opening up and talking.”

In addition, the schools hired Brooke Lawson, a full-time mental health coordinator, to facilitate weekly support groups.

“HSE schools are so grateful for the partnership we have with the Peyton Riekhof Foundation,” Lawson says. “Students have benefitted greatly from the support groups.”

In March, the Peyton Riekhof Foundation for Youth Hope will host its fifth annual Night of Hope event, which includes speakers as well as 22 mental health organizations who are on-site to distribute their materials. This year RemedyLIVE will put on a dynamic program.

“They pose questions to the crowd like, ‘Have you ever thought about suicide or harming yourself?’ The crowd answers anonymously with their responses going up on the screen and students can see that others are hurting, too,” Riekhof says. “They realize they’re not alone.”

Last year 500 people of all ages attended Night of Hope. Although Riekhof would love to see every seat filled, his board members remind him that it’s about helping one person, saving one life. That message was brought home last year when a mother told Riekhof that the greatest benefit to the evening was recognizing unity.

“Prior to the Night of Hope, I felt that our family was alone on this journey of parenting a suicidal child,” she said. “This was the first time I learned that there’s a community who understands our struggle.”

Riekhof is committed to ongoing education, awareness, and destigmatizing. In 2018, he hopes to include additional student support groups, a parent support group and an event focused specifically on young men’s health (since according to AFSP, men die by suicide 3.57 times more often than women).

In the book “Anxious for Nothing,” author Max Lucado cites a study that involved more than 200,000 incoming freshmen — all reporting “all-time lows in overall mental health and emotional stability.”

Middle school and high school students worry about performing academically and athletically, they fret about getting into certain colleges, they are bullied on social media. They wrestle with eating disorders, pornography addiction, drugs and alcohol, self-harm and abuse. And then there’s the pressure to succeed. atGeist.com / MARCH 2018 / GEIST MAGAZINE / 27

“There’s this culture that you’ve got to make the travel teams, be enrolled in the AP classes, live in certain neighborhoods, attend the best university. Add to that never shutting off technology and it has created a high-anxiety world,” Riekhof says.

“It’s a culture we need to work at changing, and it takes a village to do so.”

Riekhof notes that depression, anxiety and stress are starting to hit at the grade school level now, which is why early intervention, discussions and support are so critical.

“Our goal as a foundation is to provide resources to help our youth,” Riekhof says.

The recent opening of the northside Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership and service center on Reynolds Drive in Fishers signifies much more than a simple relocation from its former Carmel setting, according to co-owner David Dellen.

“We’re doubling in size from our old location in Carmel on 96th Street, and there’s a lot we can do now here in Fishers that we couldn’t do before,” he says. “We just outgrew the old location. We’re excited for the change, and we’re going to have fun with it.”

The new two-story facility spans approximately 37,000 square feet on 3.5 acres and features a service center, an

outdoor patio, a customer lounge area and in-house bike storage. Dellen, who has co-owned the 22,000-square-foot dealership on 96th Street with his mother Donna since 2012, even obtained a beer and wine license for special onsite events and parties.

“One of the biggest complaints at the old dealership was that our service department couldn’t store the bikes and had to push them outside everyday and expose them to the elements,” says Dellen, adding that the Fishers store accommodates almost double the parking space he offered in Carmel. “Now, when someone brings a bike in, they get checked in and the bike goes up to our heated, secured storage area and stays there until it’s worked on. The Dellens broke ground in March 2017 with Mayor Scott Fadness in attendance, and Dellen says the mayor and the Fishers community in general have been largely supportive of the new facility from day one.

The owners officially opened the Fishers store on January 20 and held a grand opening celebration a week later featuring live music and refreshments.

“Fishers is becoming this fantastic epicenter of community engagement and activities, and we’re excited to be a part of it,” says Dellen, who began working at the dealership at age 17 when his father was the owner, and currently also co-owns Cannonball Harley-Davidson in Terre Haute. “The overwhelming majority of people are saying how excited they are about it. We’ve had some people saying they’re disappointed that we’re moving

The new facility will also be able to accommodate Riding Academy lessons, through which individuals can learn to ride a Harley and obtain the proper licensing.

Dellen says his instructors have been using Sand Creek Elementary School for riding lessons since he began offering the course more than two years ago and is pleased to be able to offer the course at his own facility moving forward.

Even the sign hanging over the new store’s front entrance was carefully thought out by the Dellens – they retained a custom fabricator to construct it with fortina, a metal wrapped with a durable composite material that resembles wood, to lend a contemporary appearance to the building’s overall exterior façade.

“We’ll be able to have eight students per class, and we’re hoping to have some weekday classes as well as weekend classes,” he says. “The classes are typically offered April through October, and we have ladies-

“After my dad died in 2008, my mom and I took a few years to finish his estate and officially became owners by 2012,” he says.

“We’ve been fortunate to carry on with the business. It’s been a great experience, and we’ve had a positive response in Fishers so far, which is a good sign.”

Spring back is upon us, and airport fashion is a “thing,” but it’s definitely not a new concept.

My grandmother is 90 years old and traveled to California and Hawaii in October 2016. She arrived at the airport in

heels and a stylish hat, ready to board her five-hour flight to Los Angeles.

Travel style is different for everyone, but in most cases, it involves some version of casual and comfortable. In other cases, it might involve business professional or a dressier look. I’ve created a list with five style basics so you can plan your own airport outfit. atGeist.com / MARCH 2018 / GEIST MAGAZINE / 35

1. A STAPLE HAT.

I don’t think I’ve been on a plane in the last seven years without a hat. If it’s not on my head during the flight, it’s in my carry-on for easy access. Hats are great for those early morning flights when you don’t have time to do anything with your hair. Whether you choose a fedora or a baseball cap, hats are a travel necessity.

2. JOGGERS.

This is a trend I can fully stand behind as they are comfortable, but also trendy. Joggers can be dressed up or down making them a versatile piece to wear later in your trip too. I like to pair mine with a graphic tee and a denim jacket for travel days.

3. LAYERS

You never know what the temperature might be like in the airport or on the plane. A jacket or sweater is advisable so you can adjust to these differences.

4. C OMFORTABLE SHOES THAT SLIDE OFF EASILY.

Going through security is no easy feat, but if you wear shoes that slide on and off, it makes this process smoother. I like to wear shoes that cover my feet to keep them warm, but sandals are an easy choice for beach getaways. Comfort is key, especially if you might be running to catch a connection.

5. B ACKPACK OR CROSSBODY W/ EASY ACCESS TO YOUR I.D.

When you check your bag and go through security, you have to show I.D. twice. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve temporarily misplaced my I.D. because I just threw it in my bag. If you have a backpack or small crossbody to store your cards and cash, your travel day will be a breeze.

BONUS TIP

After traveling domestically and internationally over the last few years, I’ve learned that less is more. Bringing a small bag in addition to my backpack is easiest for me so I don’t have to mess with a roller carry on that may or may not fit in the overhead compartments. I know this isn’t exactly style related, but it will make your travel experience more positive.

These five style basics are the necessities for your upcoming travel plans. Whether you’re driving or flying to your destination, you can follow these guidelines for a comfortable day.

Kevin LaBarr, co-owner of A.J’s Bar & Grill, 9755 Fall Creek Road, Indianapolis, says he underestimated how much customers would respond to their new menu at the recently revamped venue.

“I’ve been overwhelmed and thrilled with how much people have loved the food and the new atmosphere,” LaBarr says. “I hear something everyday about how our guests will be coming back because they are crazy about the new menu and the environment. Everything has been changed from top to bottom.”

LaBarr and his wife, Cora, took over the establishment, formerly called The Grill.

They have altered everything from the décor, including several beautiful murals of Indianapolis, to new live music, new signs, kitchen equipment and furnishings.

Customers have responded positively to the changes.

“Our biggest hit has been the Chef Paul Prudhomme’s Cajun Meatloaf, which is made from scratch with fresh ingredients,” LaBarr say’s “It’s our number one seller.

Once you have tasted it, you will be back for more.”

Cora says that everything is made in-house to emphasize freshness.

“We want people to remember everything they eat here, and we stress excellence,” she says.

LaBarr and Cora credit Chef Chino Solano with adapting to their new creative and diverse menu and say Solano has gone beyond their expectations and offers many of his ideas for daily specials.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with how Chino makes outstanding food each and everyday,” LaBarr says. “He really came in and has made people take notice. You won’t believe how delicious our entrées are. The customers have told us how fresh everything tastes.”

LaBarr is also well known for his culinary skills.

“I can really relax when I’m in the kitchen making food,” he says. “I cook out of love.

It also relieves stress. I’m well known for my Kevin’s Kicked Up Chili, which is a secret recipe.”

When he’s not busy cooking and running AJ’s Bar & Grill, LaBarr also owns and operates Certified Auto Exchange, a wholesale car dealership with retail locations in the Castleton area and Washington, Indiana. He’s been a car dealer for 37 years.

LaBarr is an outstanding multi-tasker, too. He can close a deal on a car while he’s cooking up a delicious meal and helping a co-worker.

“Our main priority is making our employees happy,” LaBarr says. “If the employees are happy, the customers are happy. There is a lot of trust, respect and cooperation. I couldn’t be happier with our staff.”

Cora agrees that everything has aligned recently to make positive changes at AJ’s Bar & Grill, including hiring Bobbi Tecua back

as the bar manager.

“The entire staff understands the importance of the food being as fresh as it can be, and they have responded enthusiastically,” she says.

Chef Solano says the flavorful spices in several of the menu items have made the food stand out with both new and returning customers.

“We make sure it’s all made in house,” Solano says.

Fishers residents have enthusiastically welcomed the new Noble Roman’s Craft Pizza & Pub, 11715 Allisonville Road, with cheerful support since they recently opened on Jan. 18.

Located in the Fishers Station Shopping Plaza, the growing franchise has been a big hit with pizza lovers who enjoy the restaurant’s delicious sauces and crusts.

Susan Ross, director of corporate communications for Noble Roman’s Inc., Indianapolis, says she and the restaurant employees love being in Fishers and have enjoyed the warm response. She believe it’s an ideal location.

“The community is growing and there are so many wonderful things to see and do in Fishers,” Ross says. “The residents are fantastic, we enjoy serving them, and we sincerely appreciate the support they have given us.”

Aside from their famous deep-dish Sicilian

pizza and breadsticks with spicy cheese dip, Noble Roman’s Craft Pizza & Pub features many new enhancements that guests will enjoy.

“In addition to our two styles of handcrafted, made-from-scratch pizzas, we offer a huge selection of 40 different toppings, cheeses and sauces from which to choose,” Ross says. “We have a glass-enclosed, climate-controlled ‘Dough Room’ where our Dough Masters hand make all pizza and breadstick dough from scratch in customer view.”

The dining room has a “Dusting & Drizzle Station,” where guests can customize their pizzas, pastas and salads with a variety of toppings and drizzles, such as rosemary infused olive oil, honey and Italian spices.

Beer and wine is also featured, with 16 different beers on tap, including both national and local craft selections.

“Our 16 wines are great representatives of several varietals,” Ross says. “They are a terrific value, and all are available by the glass or the bottle. Our dining room is atGeist.com / MARCH 2018 / GEIST MAGAZINE / 41

comfortably modern with booths, tables and large screen televisions throughout, several showing old-time black & white cartoons and movies. And finally, one of our favorite dining room features - craft root beer from a self-serve tap.”

Kids love getting the craft root beer from the tap. During a recent trip, a busy but fast-moving line was enjoyed by parents and children alike.

The pizza orders also move quickly. Annie Baker, Indianapolis, says she received her order fast, and she and the kids loved their pepperoni and sausage pizza.

“I think you can’t beat the great taste and the fresh ingredients,” Baker says. “It’s quick, delicious and relaxing. You can just chill out and take it easy. Everyone has their preferred pizza, and you have a large selection to choose from.”

General Manager, Donavon Yake, has his own personal favorite pizzas.

“I usually go for ‘The Works’ deep-dish Sicilian, but I like mixing it up with several

of our other House and Signature pizzas, too,” Yake says. “A couple of our most popular pizzas are the Meaty Mafioso (pepperoni, genoa salami, Italian Sausage and meatball crumbles), Pizza Margherita (rosemary infused olive oil, mozzarella cheese, fresh basil leaves and tomato slices), and The Works. Other favorites include our Gorgonzola Chicken Salad, Fettuccine Alfredo, Stromboli and of course - the breadsticks with spicy cheese dip.”

Yake has been a long-time Noble Roman’s employee.

“In the mid-1980s, Noble Roman’s gave me my start in the restaurant business as an hourly employee working in West Lafayette, Indiana,” Yake says. “My first professional management job was with Noble Roman’s, too.”

Ross says there are currently three Noble Roman’s Craft Pizza & Pub restaurants located in Westfield, Whitestown and Fishers. A fourth will be opening this spring.

He is looking forward to meeting all of his great neighbors in Fishers.

“It’s a high level of learning every day to keep up with thousands of brands, as technology exponentiates,” Goren says. “We have to stay educated, and we do that through attending trade shows multiple times a year in San Diego and Orlando.”

Since 1998, Technology Interiors has served Central Indiana with home theater audio and video installations and is currently the state’s No. 1 seller of home theater screens and projectors, according to Goren.

“The new laser projectors will blow your mind when you see how spectacular the image is, and the new aradigm Personna, the pinnacle of the audio-video industry, will be prominently displayed in our showroom too,” Goren adds.

As for Technology Interiors’ new showroom, Goren says you’ll have to see it to believe it.

“I really let the designer go wild with the showroom, and the creativity flows throughout the new facility from the moment you walk in,” Goren says.
