SUPERB SELECTION
LINDEN TREE IS STILL FLOURISHING AFTER 25 YEARS
Committed to delivering exceptional value, service and experience, Linden Tree in Noblesville should be a destination everyone makes this holiday season.
For Rori Anderson, Linden Tree was her one-stop shop. She never really considered herself to be a shopper, but knew she could count on Linden Tree whenever she needed to buy gifts. So when the opportunity arose to save the place she loved from closing, she was in the perfect place in her life to buy it. Even though she had no previous retail experience, she jumped at this new experience, and now, 16 years later, she has grown Linden Tree into successful business, with a second location in Carmel next to Cake Bake that had opened six years ago.
Recently relocating two blocks away to a brand-new storefront, Linden Tree’s new Noblesville location still offers unique and trendy clothing, stylish home accents, delightful gifts, baby items and more, all of which have made them a staple in the Noblesville community for 25 years. Anderson says the challenge of switching to a new location has been that many people didn’t know that they moved - or the common misconception that they are closed.
But inside their extensive curated collection remains, featuring beloved brands like Tribal, Habitat, Fenini, Cut Loose, Shana, Mud Pie and many more.
Along with stationary, candles, books, puzzles and other items, Linden Tree also offers a wide range of selection of women’s accessories and apparel, home accents, seasonal decor, kitchen gadgets, baby items and more. This assortment helps any shopper find the perfect gift.
Anderson and her staff strive to make Linden Tree a destination in vibrant downtown Noblesville. Shoppers cannot help but get a happy feeling inside the store, perusing the feel-good items
with cheerful music and a dedicated staff that helps to create an ambience meant to uplift spirits.
Linden Tree is very focused on the customer experience, striving to ensure excellent customer service and convenience by offering complimentary wrapping services, curbside pickup and a rewards program where guests earn five points for every dollar spent.
Linden Tree hosts a variety of workshops, classes and events, and for this upcoming holiday season, there will be mosaic fused-glass ornament making and live wreath-making workshop events.
Linden Tree is also participating in this year’s Downtown Noblesville Cookie Crawl, where proceeds will benefit Fueled for School of Noblesville.
Make sure to follow Linden Tree on social media for upcoming events and promotions. You can also shop their website at lindentreegifts.com, and please note the online shop only reflects a fraction of their inventory.
A DECADE OF DELICIOUS DINING
ASPEN CREEK GRILL TURNS 10
Writer / Natalie Platt Photographer / Brian Brosmer
Aspen Creek Grill, the Noblesville restaurant known for featuring scratchmade, comfort-fresh food including premium steaks, freshly chopped salads and house-smoked ribs, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Partner Mike Bennett credits the restaurant’s longevity to always putting the community first, as well as the scratchmade menu.
“I’m a big believer in making sure we take care of the community that we’re in,” he says. “We always make sure we’re giving back, and building a great culture where the employees who work for us understand that our guests - members of the communityare important to us and we have to take care of them. People have choices out there and if you don’t make yourself known and build a great reputation, they’ll forget about you and go elsewhere.”
Aspen Creek gives back to the community by donating to various women’s and homeless shelters, giving to the No Kid Hungry program, supplying meals to different churches in the area, and supporting local high school teams through sponsorships and pancake breakfasts.
Bennett says the foundation of building a long-lasting restaurant starts with the employees, and walking them through the importance of hospitality during the interview process. They’re asked questions you might not see in a typical interview: How do you like taking care of others? Do you put others first? How do you treat those
you serve?
“Our expected culture is based on servant leadership, mind and heart,” Bennett says. “We want locals in the community to be part of it and our team. We don’t want order takers. We want people who are going to build relationships.”
While Aspen Creek doesn’t have any grand celebrations to commemorate a decade in business, they’ll focus on doing what they always do - making their guests, about 6,000 people a week, feel valued and appreciated.
Bennett has been able to see his employees and guests grow over the past decade, and cites that growth as one of his favorite aspects of his role.
“Going to work every day and getting to inspire others and take on a new challenge, while seeing employees growing up and becoming successful and knowing you had an impact on their lives and leadership skills, is so fulfilling,” he says.
Looking forward, Greenwood residents will
soon have a new restaurant to enjoy. Aspen Creek Grill is anticipating a December opening for their new Greenwood location, at 1287 North Emerson Avenue, which broke ground in July. It marks the second location in the Indianapolis area.
“Our team at Aspen Creek Grill prides ourselves on making our food from scratch daily and providing a warm, relaxing experience for guests,” Bennett says. “It’s been an honor to serve the people of Noblesville for so many years, and I look forward to personally introducing a new community in Greenwood to the Aspen Creek Grill dining experience.”
For your next happy hour, don’t forget that Aspen Creek has $1 off draft pints, margaritas, sangria, and glasses of wine Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Aspen Creek Grill is located at 13489 Tegler Drive in Noblesville. Guests can visit aspencreekgrill.com for more information or call 317-559-3300.
THE WILD BOHEMIAN
BOUTIQUE OWNER ALLISON BEHR CELEBRATES EIGHT STYLISH YEARS IN BUSINESS
Shopping - specifically clothes shoppingcan be intimidating for some, if not most, women. Not all women fit the typical 0 to 12 sizes, and not every woman can walk into a typical clothing store and come out with pieces that are flattering and fit properly.
That is why the Wild Bohemian came into existence, to give women a place to shop where they can find stylish boho chic clothes that flatter their body type, and give them self-confidence and self-love. Celebrating eight years of business, Owner Allison Behr reflects on the challenges of owning a boutique, and embraces the mission that she feels God gave her.
Behr felt like God gave her this mission to serve the women in her community. “God placed it in my heart to make women feel confident in themselves,” she says. “I could never just go into a store and find something that fits. I had to search for things that
would fit”
The Wild Bohemian’s humble start began with Behr selling items at music festivals and farmers markets, but she wanted a community-centered feel to help more women, and opened a storefront in downtown Noblesville. Her experience has been a whirlwind, having endured COVID and road closures. She says it has involved every emotion, but through it all, the Wild Bohemian always stayed true to the mission of providing confidence to women through flattering boho chic clothing.
“I love everything boho and unique,” says Behr, who carefully curates the boutique’s pieces. “It’s not things you will find in a box store. We carry brands like Free People, but also support local mom-and-pop shops by selling small brands, fair trade and handmade items.”
The Wild Bohemian boutique clothing features a variety of boho-chic-inspired tops, bottoms, sweaters, jumpsuits, dresses, outerwear, loungewear, and intimates, for different body types - all of which are meant for a woman to feel confident while wearing.
The Wild Bohemian not only sells women apparel, but also bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings, hair accessories, purses, wallets, hats, as well as body-care items, candles, mugs and more. The Wild Bohemian also has several different online gift guides for shoppers’ convenience, including a holiday 2024 gift guide.
It may fit, but does it flatter? While browsing the online selection, each piece of clothing is modeled by a real-life model. These models are a variety of sizes, and each has a different body type, with their specific sizing information listed in the item description. This is designed to create an easy shopping experience for the customer to see how the clothes fit real people.
Shopping is always available online, and shipping is free for orders over $50.
What does the future look like for the Wild Bohemian? Behr says currently there are
no plans to open other locations, and she is focused on growing the store online and reaching more women who could benefit from her store.
Those interested in learning more about the Wild Bohemian and their in-store events, newest product drops and promotions can sign up for their newsletter and email list (you also get an introductory 20% off coupon), download their app for coupon codes, and follow their social media for weekly new releases.

THE PURSUIT INSTITUTE
HELPING STUDENTS PREPARE FOR THEIR FUTURES
Preparing for the future after high school can be overwhelming for many students. Hamilton County schools leaders witnessed these challenges and consequently created the Pursuit Institute to help students discover their passions and be equipped for their next steps.
The Pursuit Institute is an independent Career and Technical Education (CTE) district that is a collaboration of the six Hamilton County school systems. The goal of the institute is for students to have the opportunity to experience meaningful jobs. Whether students plan to enter the workforce after graduation or continue their education with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, the Pursuit Institute helps students have a clear connection between the classroom and a career.
Before the Pursuit Institute, Hamilton County students had to travel to the J. Everett Light Career Center in Indianapolis for CTE. Students faced challenges with this arrangement like limited spots in classes and transportation issues. To alleviate those issues, the Pursuit Institute was launched in June 2021 as the Hamilton County Center
Writer / Rebecca Wood
for Career Achievement. In October 2022 the state awarded it CTE status, which provides $500,000 in federal funding annually to the Pursuit Institute and the public school district served.
The Pursuit Institute opened in August 2023 and is currently in its second year of programming. Enrollment increased by over 100 students this year.
The Pursuit Institute aims to keep students close to home, increase revenue to the school district, expand and centralize employer engagement, and maximize impact by coordinating grants and philanthropic investments.
Students can enroll in 13 full two-year programs. An additional four paid capstone experiences are available for those who have taken construction, civil construction, automotive services or welding programs at their home school. The Pursuit Institute offers 24 different certifications, 94 college credits, three apprenticeships, and innumerable hours of work-based learning experiences throughout their programs. Offered programs include choices like
agriculture, aviation, cosmetology, cyber security and many more.
Pursuit Institute programs are offered with on-site experiences at local business and community partners. These programs utilize a combination of virtual and in-person academic opportunities with input and instruction by industry professionals.
The Pursuit Institute partners with many Hamilton County businesses and community partners including Reynolds Farm Equipment, Riverview Hospital and Chariot Automotive Group among others. These industry professionals ensure students receive practical, real-world experiences.
“We want to create an opportunity to link student interest with careers, and to put them into as many real-life situations as possible,” says Kurt Cantlon, the executive director of the Pursuit Institute.
Cantlon is a Westfield High School graduate with deep roots in Hamilton County. He is invested in promoting the growth of the local community and how students can be a
part of that process. He finds joy in helping students find their passion and success.
“We have a lot of options in Hamilton County,” says Cantlon. “There isn’t a need to leave to do a job you are interested and passionate about.”
The Pursuit Institute is always looking for new business and community partners, and those who want to work with students. For more information on being a Pursuit Institute partner or about the program, check out their website at thepursuitinstitute.org. Their phone number is 317-210-3195.

NOBLESVILLE GEARS UP FOR THE SECOND ANNUAL HOLIDAY IN LIGHTS PARADE
Writer / Devon Dean
The holidays are a time to celebrate established traditions and maybe create some new ones along the way.
To that end, Noblesville will host the second annual Holiday in Lights Parade on Saturday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m. Noblesville had previously hosted a parade the Sunday after Thanksgiving, but the COVID pandemic in 2020 facilitated a change.
“The Home for the Holidays tour hit all the neighborhoods in Noblesville over two weekends and included vehicles from our police, fire, streets, utilities and parks departments,” says Robert Herrington with the City of Noblesville.
Last year, Mayor Chris Jensen went to his staff to find out how Noblesville could
create a new event while incorporating the parade and downtown. They put together the Holiday in Lights.
“The inaugural event was such a hit that we began planning this year’s parade shortly after last year’s conclusion,” says Herrington.
The Holiday in Lights theme came about as city officials compared how to kick off the holidays to the Noblesville Homecoming and July 4 parades, both of which take place in the afternoon.
“Last year the entries and crowd did a great job of being festive, dressing for the holiday and the weather,” says Herrington. “Being on the first Saturday of December means we can make a festive weekend downtown with Noblesville Main Street’s First Friday events, Lights Over Seminary, and Holidays at the Hill at Federal Hill Commons.”
The parade is not just limited to motorized vehicles. “Any non-motorized entry must have reflective material or glow sticks/ bracelets on any walkers to ensure their safety during the parade,” says Herrington.
Anyone interested can register at cityofnoblesville.org/parade. Registration is $25 per entry. Like other Noblesville city parades, entry fees will be waived for all nonprofit and youth organizations that want to participate.
The parade will also feature awards for categories such as best holiday-themed entry, best use of lights and most hometown-inspired entry, with Santa Claus concluding the festivities.
Public Safety and Hamilton County Emergency Management are working together to provide a safe and well-lit parade route. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m., with the route starting at 16th and Harrison streets. It will travel south on 16th to Logan, head north on 9th Street, and turn east on Harrison Street to end at Ivy Tech’s parking lot.

MAGGIE LAMBERT
Noblesville High School student, Marjorie “Maggie” Lambert, daughter of Noblesville School Board member Stephanie Lambert and Dr. Nathan Lambert, MD, is utilizing her time until graduation to the fullest. Not only is she student body president, but she is also a student athletic trainer, vice president of DECA and serves on the Mayor’s Youth Council while taking high level classes such as AP biology. During her high school years, Lambert learned from her experiences and continues moving forward.
As student body president, Lambert oversees scheduled meetings, any school happenings that involve all grades such as homecoming, blood drive, mini-Olympics or pep rallies as well the budgets for the events. Each grade has its own class president and senators. Lambert ran for sophomore class president and lost. Undeterred, she ran and won a senator position her junior year. With experience in student government gained, she was elected as student body president for her senior year.
“I have a lot of school spirit but one of my biggest surprises is how willing and enthusiastic the freshman class is. The senators, vice president and president are eager and all very kind. They never complain and are a great bunch of kids,” says Lambert. This year, Lambert is a cadet teacher at Noble Crossing Elementary School but last year she participated in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification program. To achieve certification, she and other students interned at Maple Park Village assisted living facility and had to pass a state board exam. This training has been valuable in her role as a student athletic trainer.
“I assist athletic trainer Gerald Mickler before and after every practice and game for varsity football, boys’ basketball and baseball. My duties are players’ rehab, injury prevention, and hydration. I have a big heart for student athletes. It is a challenge to balance sports, other activities and keep up grades,” says Lambert.
“I was in travel soccer and played for years. I played soccer freshman year, but I got bad injury in weightlifting class. I took it as a sign to pursue other things. I still love sports; I have a real competitive side, but I tell people there are other avenues to be involved in sports like
being a student athletic trainer,” says Lambert.
Lambert is looking forward to other events that will happen before the end of her senior year. As vice president of the school’ chapter of DECA, a business education organization that hosts competitions at the local and state level, she will organize meetings, fundraisers, and practice competitions. In addition, she is on the wellness focus group of the Mayor’s Youth Council and is an avid supporter of teen mental health.
“I’ve been trying to decide between being a teacher or going into the medical field. I think ultimately I want to be a physician’s assistant. My dad is a cardiologist and his physician’s assistant, Julie Vanderford, has been a mentor, allowing me to shadow her,” says
ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
Lambert.
“I am applying to seven colleges, and I think I’ve got a good mix of safety, target and reach schools. My safety schools are Ball State University, Butler University and Indiana University. Their acceptance rate is high for my qualifications and GPA. My target school, what I’m hoping for, is Purdue University where I’d like to study bio medical health services. My reach schools are New York University and Northwestern University,” says Lambert.
Meanwhile, Lambert plans to enjoy the reminder of her senior year. She is glad for the opportunity to serve her school in a leadership role. Above all else, she’s proud to be a Miller!
