When Riverview Health CEO Seth Warren began his new role, he hit the ground running.

urgent care, physician offices, a surgery center, occupational medicine, physical therapy, orthopedics and sports medicine, radiology, OB/GYN, rehabilitation, endoscopy, pediatrics and family practice.

With blueprints scattered on the conference table, the growth with Riverview Health is palpable. The transition to new leadership comes at an important time for the expanding healthcare system.

“We are a private hospital and believe in maintaining an atmosphere of genuine caring and respect,” says Warren of the guiding values of Riverview Health. “It really shows throughout this organization, and I am thrilled to be in a leadership role for such an amazing organization.”

“I’ve come on staff at a rather busy time,” says Warren, smiling and somewhat understating the situation. “There is a lot going on.”

Warren and his wife, Maureen, are originally from a small town in south New Jersey but have embraced Indiana and consider themselves Hoosiers.

Warren’s extensive healthcare experience has taken his family across the country where he’s developed a strong reputation for improving performance in various healthcare environments. “Riverview Health is a well-respected hospital,” says Warren, who has recently moved to the area from Chesterton. “My family and I are happy to be back in the Indianapolis area.”

“Our kids have lived in Indiana more than anywhere,” shares Warren. “We alternate spending Christmases in Indiana and New Jersey. We realized our kids thought of Indiana as home when we said we were going home this year, and one of our boys said, ’We’re staying home? I thought we were going to New Jersey.’” This was the pivotal moment when the Warrens realized they were officially Hoosiers. The family has lived in Indiana for 18 years.

From the expansion of the existing hospital to the construction of a new facility in Westfield, Riverview Health has its course set on creating a wider reach around Hamilton County and central Indiana. Among the growth plans is a new outpatient care center on the northeast corner of U.S. 31 and State Road 32 in Westfield. Services offered include

One aspect of Riverview Health that impresses Warren is the inner connectivity between the health system and the community. “The sense and feel of community in Noblesville is appealing,” says Warren. “I’ve witnessed many instances in this city that prove this is

sincere and heartfelt.”

“I am excited to begin to work with Seth and continue to work with many of the wonderful staff we’ve grown to know at Riverview Health,” says Noblesville Main Street Executive Director Chris Owen. “I believe that we will find new opportunities to partner and provide increased value to our community. We welcome Seth and his family and are looking forward to accomplishing great things together!”

Riverview Health, like many businesses in Noblesville, is intertwined within the community. One such example is with Noblesville Schools in providing an atmosphere for students to explore career paths in the healthcare field.

In between the jokes and the broad smiles, Chuck told me that he’d been delivering meals every week for the last eight years. As I would come to learn, Chuck’s passion for the organization’s mission is one that is shared by all of Meals on Wheels’ volunteers.

A large part of Meals on Wheels’ mission is delivering meals to residents within Hamilton County who have difficulty preparing their own meals. One misconception of the organization is that individuals must have a financial need in order to receive services.

Sandy shared a story of a volunteer who came to deliver a meal and found her elderly client sitting alone in a cold, dark house because his electricity had been turned off.

The volunteer not only called the electric company to help get the power turned back on, but had her husband stop by the client’s home after work to make sure the power had been restored and check the breakers in the basement. Meals on Wheels then reached out to the client’s family to let them know what had happened with their father.

JOIN US FOR THE COUNTRY'S FINEST JURIED ART FAIR The Talbot Street Art Fair is the longest running outdoor art fair in central Indiana. Since its beginning in 1956, organizers have strived to make each year better than before.

Celebrating this year its 61st year, the fair features over 250 artists both locally and from across the United States. The artists converge on Talbot Street between 16th and 20th Streets to present their work in many mediums. These include sculpture, glass, painting, jewelry, photography, ceramics, wood, printmaking, mixed media and fiber.

The host neighborhood, Herron-Morton Place, invites several food venues to the site, so refreshments can be purchased while

viewing the art. This is a family-friendly event, and as always, the admission is free!

The fair will be held, rain or shine. Since most artists travel with solid tent protection, this allows the event to master the weather.

Many good conversations have been held in artists’ tents during a rain shower.

This year’s fair will be held June 11-12.

Hours on Saturday are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“I came up with the idea of opening Deer Creek Brewery and featuring whiskey barrels in our bar area after visiting distilleries in Kentucky,” Eaton said. “It really appealed to me, and I know it will have the same appeal for other people.”

Eaton views Deer Creek Brewery as a sister company for Barley Island.

“We have had a very successful, 16-year run at Barley Island, but it is really seen as a restaurant,” Eaton said. “We created Deer Creek Brewery to get our brews in more diverse locations, such as restaurants, bars, liquor stores and other locations.”

Barley Island was first launched in December 1999.

“Barley Island has had a great year, and we are really hoping for the same with Deer Creek Brewery,” Eaton said during a tour of his facility. “We will be doing a lot of canning, bottling and distribution of kegs at Deer Creek. We will also be having the beers canned by mobile canning companies. We are very excited about this.

A lot of our customers have already been asking about it.”

The four-pack bottles will be available in August.

Eaton noted that Deer Creek Brewery’s name is an homage to the former Deer Creek Music Center, which is now called Klipsh Music Center.

“At Barley Island, we renamed one of our porters as Deer Creek Porter,” he said. “It was a big hit, so I wanted to do something else with the name again.”

Eaton, who used to work at Roche Diagnostics in the Global Marketing and

Deer Creek Brewery, a 13,185-square foot facility, features several drinks with clever names, including year-round drinks such as RyeFly Rye IPA, Deerfly IPA and Cork County Red Cream. There are blends with names such as Shakedown County, Deer County and Shady Shakedown.

“We have been able to triple our brewing capacity, and we will be able to have a 20-barrel brewing system,” Eaton stated.

“We also have a large bottling and packaging production line.”

Deer Creek Brewery is open Thursdays from 2-8 p.m., Fridays 2-9 p.m., Saturdays 12-9 p.m. and Sundays 12-8 p.m.

Deer Creek serves pizza, hot pockets and Jalapeno cheese pretzels. They also take orders for food to be delivered by El Palenque Mexican restaurant.

“We offer very minimal food here, but we are not competing with the restaurants, which helps us get our products into their restaurants,” Eaton said.

Brewery tours are also offered, and a shuttle service is provided by The Brewline to take concert goers to select Klipsh Music Center events.

“We receive a lot of business from people just driving by, seeing the sign and stopping in,” Eaton said. “We have had a nice mix of new people we have just met and are also loyal customers from Barley Island.”

The Richwine Building was named after George C. Richwine who ran a carriage

and buggy manufacturing business out of the location starting in 1879. His original two-story home became engulfed by his business, leading to the construction of the building as we know it in 1914. Two of the apartments were on the tour, highlighting the innovations of the day and the appeal of then-modern amenities over 100 years later.

Apartment resident Dave Apodaca opened his home to the tour. “We enjoy living in downtown Noblesville,” shares Apodaca.

“This building has a rich history, and the surrounding area is rich in history and shares a strong sense of community.”

Along the Historic Square is a brick, Victorian-era commercial building known as the Lacy Block Building. Albert H. Lacy constructed the building in 1888. The third floor was occupied by the Knights of

Pythias for 60 years, and then The Boys Club utilized the space as is witnessed by the basketball court and locker room areas.

“Without the building owners and tenants’ willingness to open their second and third floor spaces, this unique exploratory event would not be possible. The people, places and experiences within downtown Noblesville are what strengthens the connectivity of a community,” said Alaina Shonkwiler, event chairperson.
