PRECISION TREE REMOVAL HAS EARNED A STRONG LOCAL REPUTATION

Writer / Matt Keating

Omer Schlabach, owner of Precision Tree Removal in Middlebury, says he is always up for a challenge.

“I’m always interested in broadening my horizons and taking on any tree removal

job that comes my way,” Schlabach says. “I look forward to the next job and I just jump right in.”

Schlabach adds that no job is too big or too challenging.

“I have been fortunate to be able to keep getting better at what I do,” he says. “When

I started the business without a name about eight years ago or so, I wanted to learn as much as I could.”

Schlabach also enjoyed working with trees.   “I love the outdoors and camping, and I absolutely love the work I do, so it hit me that I could be doing this as a business,” he says. “I started doing some tree cutting and

telling more people about the quality work that I do. We were officially established as a premier tree service in 2020.”

Schlabach notes that he can do any type of tree work.

“We are a residential tree removal business and we can take on more complex tree removals,” he says. “We also really specialize and offer all kinds of tree service.”

Tree trimming is just one of the services

Precision Tree Removal offers.

“We can also provide tree stump removal and tree stump grinding,” Schlabach says.

“We can also clean up a residential yard or tree area after a storm, with our excellent storm debris cleanup and storm debris removal. We do an outstanding job of land clearing.”

Schlabach loves the fact that he can work all year round to help his customers.

“In the late fall and early winter it’s the best time to trim your trees,” he says. “Winter is also great for logging. In the spring and summer and during dry weather, we can really get into yards and get to work trimming trees. We can get a lot of work done during each season of the year and the work comes in at a nice, steady pace.”

Schlabach has completed jobs from 45 minutes to an hour away, and doesn’t mind the distance.

“We even provide service to some customers in Portage, Michigan,” he says. “We have been to a lot of places in northern Indiana including Middlebury, Elkhart, South Bend, LaGrange, etcetera.”

Schlabach is thrilled that so many of his customers have been pleased with his work and have given him five-star ratings.

tree removal we had done on their property,” Schlabach says. “We removed 15 or so trees from their property. They said we were fast, on time and very knowledgeable about how to do tree removal in a tight space. They said we were amazing, and very impressed. They said they would be using us again.”

Another customer, Steven K. Heffner, had Precision Tree Removal remove a huge tree that was 3’ in diameter and more than 50’ tall.

“Steven was happy we were able to take it down in one morning and cut it into splitlevel pieces for his kids to use for firewood,” Schlabach says. “Once his kids got the wood out, we ground the stump out. He said we did a great job and left his yard in great shape.”

Schlabach enjoys working with his son, Jaylen, 15.

“I love having Jaylen helping me and working with me,” he says. “He does a great job and he enjoys being with me. He is learning a lot about working in a business as well.”

Schlabach has nothing but high praise for Middlebury.

“I really love this town and the nice people who live here,” he says. “It’s also a great place to have a family and there are a lot of wonderful places to shop. The traffic is also good and it’s peaceful here.”

“A great way to get a quote or contact me is to call or text me at 574-238-5671,” he says. “I will do a high-quality job. My motto is, ‘Your property’s protection equals our perfection.’”

New Owners of Jarrety’s Place in Rochester Are Excited About the Future

Flourish, Here.

Brice Romine remembers going to Jarrety’s Place restaurant in Rochester as a youngster, growing up on the family farm in Mentone. In February of 2022, he and his wife, Katlyn, became the owners of the long-established breakfast and lunch stop. They also own what used to be known as The Other Side, which has been rebranded as Arlington Public House.

His familiarity with the restaurant and being friends with the previous owners played in his favor. He calls it a “huge benefit,” in that he had firsthand knowledge of the history and what made the restaurant successful for all those years. He has a history with the restaurant, having worked there and played sports at Rochester High School with the restaurant’s namesakes - Jarret and Tyler.

After graduation in 2007, Romine headed off to college planning to major in construction management. That changed when he started working in restaurants in Indianapolis and later Lafayette. He changed his major to hospitality, majoring in restaurant management. He studied culinary arts and began formulating a 10-year plan to open his own restaurant.

As

That switch in major was motivated by watching and participating in Indianapolis’s hospitality coordination for the Super Bowl. He liked the planning and setup, and he also liked the money he made. He saw the possibility that a career in hospitality could offer him.

Acquiring Jarrety’s was, he says, “perfect timing.”

Romine did not change much of the menu for Jarrety’s. With a history

of serving breakfast and lunch, that continues. Restaurant patrons can choose from traditional breakfast meals and omelets, or opt for house specialties like Eggs Benedict, the Strawberry and Cream Pancake Combo, or the Loaded Avocado Toast. There are breakfast sandwiches, quiches and breakfast pizzas. Of course there is also something for the sweet tooth, with a selection of muffins, cinnamon rolls and scones.

The restaurant is known for its paninis,

with 10 different options for diners. The Loaded Baked Potato soup and the Carrot Cake are options for lunchtime diners. Wraps, cold and hot subs, pizzas and several salad choices round out the lunch menu.

The coffee bar, which he helped set up, also remains unchanged. Beverage aficionados can enjoy their favorite hot or cold beverage - frappés, cold brews, teas, hot chocolate and smoothies.

14 / THE LAKES MAGAZINE / JUNE 2023 / TownePost.com

The decor is nuanced, as Romine explains it. He wanted to evoke a bistro feel to the dining experience. Colorful walls and natural light brighten up the dining experience. Work from local artists hangs on the walls, and a friends’ couch makes conversation with a cup of coffee flow easily. These changes brighten up the space and give it a big-city kind of vibe.

It is a challenge to offer a coffee bar in a town that has multiple options to choose

from. There are at least five other coffeebar concepts nearby. However, Romine found a way to set his establishment apart.

“We offer more sugar-free options than anyone else,” he says.

For Arlington Public House, Romine wanted it to have its own personalitythat of a nice steakhouse restaurant. The decor evokes a steakhouse ambiance, with an industrial design style. It offers

casual fine dining, Romine says.

The steaks and chops he offers are locally sourced as much as possible. As both a small-business owner and a farmer, Romine wants to support farmers and other small businesses in the area. “I am a fourth-generation farmer,” Romine says. “I like to know where my food comes from.”

Arlington Public House offers fresh seafood, which is flown in two times

per week. Steaks and chops are on the menu. Diners can order small plates, sandwiches, salads and starters, as well as desserts.

Another addition to the spaces between the two restaurants was the creation of the Caddy Shack. This private room houses sports simulators and is available for private parties. The idea behind the Caddy Shack is to provide a place for families, friends and groups to get together and have fun. Like many small towns, there aren’t always a lot of choices in recreation. Romine saw this as a way to supplement local entertainment options in a family-friendly way.

Catering is also available from both Jarrety’s Place and Arlington Public House, as well as a third location, Knucklez BBQ. Each location offers different menu items, with Jarrety’s focusing on soups, salads, sandwiches, box lunches, and trays of muffins and scones, among other selections. Arlington Public House’s catering menu

includes an extensive selection of hors d’oeuvres, sides and desserts.

Catering can be provided off-site, for the banquet room, or for the Caddy Shack.

For Romine, fulfilling his 10-year plan by opening a restaurant in his hometown was unexpected. The opportunity to grow a business in this community is special indeed. He sees it as a chance to build his community.

“We are unique,” he says. “This is really good food for the area. We are an active small business that is doing things.”

Jarrety’s Place is located at 701 Main Street in Rochester.

Arlington Public House is next door at 703 Main Street. For more information, call 574-223-7101 or visit jarretysplace.com.

7TH INDIANA LIGHT ARTILLERY REENACTS CIVIL WAR BATTLES

A brief glance through the pages of any reputable chronicle of our nation’s evolution will reveal one integral chapter.

The tales are there to be told and remembered about a time when America was battling a war within its own borders. It was truly a country divided, when folks were deeply polarized and divergent in their beliefs. Young men, some barely grown beyond their teenage years, were sent to battles, and came home scarred and profoundly changed. That is, if they ever came home at all.

And while we cannot go back in time and witness those integral events firsthand, there is a local organization that strives to educate and enlighten on this era of our country, one that remains compelling more than 150 years after its conclusion. This gathering of comrades is known as the 7th Indiana Light Artillery, a group of local historians committed to the portrayal and retelling of the Civil War.

These individuals willingly volunteer their time in assuming the roles of soldiers, wearing authentic uniforms and fully embracing the lifestyles of the time period.

Several times per year, the 7th Indiana Light

exceptionally busy as of late, joining forces with the soldiers from the 21st Indiana Light Artillery to present the third annual Civil War reenactment event in Nappanee. This gathering has grown substantially from its inception in 2021, and expectations are high for this year’s spectacle, which is taking place over the weekend of June 10 and 11 on the show grounds of Nappanee Power from the Past. It is situated just north of The Barns at Nappanee.

In the tradition of past events, the reenactment will be a representation of a particular battle. For the 2023 Nappanee Civil War Days, the emphasis will be on the Battle of Shiloh. Over the past several months, several nationally renowned reenactors have answered the recruitment call for this prestigious showcase.

Representatives from both Confederate and Union divisions will be on hand, some opting to take part in the primitive campsites and bunking for the

entire weekend. There will be an anticipated 200 soldiers from infantry and artillery units, as well as political speeches from notable leaders, craft vendors, sutlers and battles.

Activities will be plentiful and apropos to the time period. There will be a saloon replica with sodas and snacks, cannonball and frying pan tossing contests, blacksmithing, tintyping, candle making, children’s games, pewtersmiths, hayrides and fireworks. Skirmishes are currently scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 10 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and again on Sunday, June 11 at 1 p.m. There will also be food vendors in abundance, offering tastes of treats to entice virtually every palate. Guests can look for funnel cakes, lemon shake-ups, ice cream, corn dogs, deep-fried baked goods, ribbon chips, and of course, a quintessential Midwestern treat, pork tenderloins.

The 7th Indiana Light Artillery is still accepting sponsorships to help assist with production costs for this event. The group also maintains an active Facebook presence, in which details about scheduling, events, and other additions to the weekend can be found. SUCCESS IS SWEET

A STRONG LOCAL FOLLOWING IS ICING ON THE CAKE FOR SWEET-EM’S CAKE SHOPPE

As you drive down CR 33 in Elkhart, you will find the sweetest little spot in the area. Sweet-Em’s Cake Shoppe was founded by owner and pastry artist, Emily Stump, at the age of 21. She began making sweet treats and cakes as a child and knew she wanted to turn it into a business someday - and that is exactly what she did.

Her talent and love for pastries took off when she purchased a space in the Old Bag Factory. As her business and clientele continued to grow, so did the variety of cakes and other delicious items offered. Today, you can choose from a variety of sweets including wedding cakes, specialty cakes, cookies, cake pops and delectable desserts.

Everyone deserves a beautiful cake for their special event, and it could be argued that there is no bigger celebration than your wedding day. At Sweet-Em’s you will be greeted with smiles from their friendly staff and treated with the utmost respect. As you walk in the doors, you will find cakes displayed all around the

shoppe to inspire you. Their specialty is creating custom fondant and buttercream tiered cakes, naked cakes, trendy cakes or whatever your heart desires.

Emily and her staff will work side-by-side with couples through the entire wedding cake process to make sure your cake is as special as your big day. Couples can schedule a tasting at the shoppe where Emily will provide you with several options of cake flavors, fillings, icings and decorating ideas.

At Sweet-Em’s, there is a cake for every special occasion including baby showers, anniversaries, corporate events, birthdays and more. The cake artists can fully customize your cake to whatever flavor and designs you are looking for. If you are in the mood for something sweet but not a full cake, no problem! Sweet-Em’s can make customized cupcakes with any of the flavors that traditionally would go in a cake. As you step into their pastry kitchen you will find a variety of desserts being made by Stump and pastry artist, Katy. The team works diligently around the clock to make fresh items every day. Some of the most popular sweet treats include mini cupcakes, cheesecake bites, mini pies, mini cream puffs, caramel apples and chocolate covered strawberries. If you are purchasing items for a group, the cupcake minimum is one dozen. All other treats are a minimum of two dozen. However, if you are just looking to treat yourself you can find a display case at the front counter where you can purchase individual items.

The team at Sweet-Em’s are true artists when it comes to bringing your creative vision to life. If you are looking for a very detailed cake design, you can find inspiration on their website and social media pages. They will likely be able to match your cake design to whatever the theme of your party is. All A-Boat It

Rochester Boat Company Keeps Locals Equipped and Ready for the Water

Hitting the water of Lake Manitou is a seasonal pastime for many. This engineered lake has a legacy in history and has been a place to enjoy for nearly two centuries. The folks at Rochester

Boat Company (RBC) endeavor to keep today’s lake lovers happily on the water.

“Lake Manitou is an all-sports lake, meaning that there is fishing, pontooning, skiing, surfboarding, wakeboarding, sail boating, kayaking, canoeing and jetskiing,” says Lisa Reffett, co-owner of

Rochester Boat Company. She and her husband, Shane, started the business in 2009, adding additional services to the original pier, dock and boat-lift services.

A lake that serves as many water sports as Manitou requires finding the right boat for the sport. Whether that calls for a speedboat or run-about, which are designed for skiing, a wake boat for that ultimate wakeboard or surfboarding experience, fishing boats to give anglers the upper hand in the many fishing tournaments on the lake, or the everpopular pontoons for cruising.

Back: Sebastian Lackey, Tom Alexander, Chad Scobie, Bryce Abbott, Jordan Bradley, Dawson Bower Middle: Shawn Fultz, Kim Spoor Front: Myron Sink, Jim Wheadon, Mark Tyler, Jack Reffett, Lisa Reffett, Shane Reffett

“The pontoons of today are not like yesteryear’s pontoons that were floating platforms with small motors that would idle around the lake for sightseeing,” Reffett says. “Today’s pontoons are larger with comfortable seating and maneuverability, with high-horsepower motors that will go fast enough to pull a tube or a skier.”

The original pontoon design uses two long floatation tubes. A recent change to pontoon design is the introduction of the tritoons, which have three long flotation tubes. This design change allows the boat to sit higher out of the water and have more maneuverability, Reffett says.

“Pontoons of today can offer the flexibility of going fast to pull a skier or tube, being a platform to hold more people for sightseeing or being very stable for fishing,” she says. “At Rochester Boat Company, we sell new Crest pontoons that are for sightseeing, tubing, or a

THE LAKES MAGAZINE / JUNE 2023 / TownePost.com

model called the Fish especially set up for fishing.”

According to the owners, Rochester Boat Company is also the only new boat dealer in Fulton County. The company sells Crest pontoons and tritoons along with Suzuki and Mercury motors, and

is authorized by the original equipment manufacturers to sell these brands.

The authorization process is based on the company getting their workers certified by the manufacturers to work on their products, insurance bonding, and having an Indiana dealer’s license, Reffett says.

It also allows the company to guarantee warranties of their products.

“We also have a wide selection of used lifts and boats,” Reffett says.

Although RBC has several models of boats to choose from, the company

is there for the long haul of boat ownership. From routine maintenance to winterization, detailing and storage, the Reffetts make sure boat owners don’t need to look elsewhere to take care of their boats. And the same applies to the maintenance and care of lifts and canopies.

“Rochester Boat Company is a one-stop shop,” Reffett says. “RBC can not only sell you a pontoon and motor, but we can put it in the water and take it out to store with us in any of our storage facilities.”

Keeping a boat showroom fresh is the work of RBC’s dedicated detailing shop that uses a commercial, wall-mounted hot-water power sprayer. Boats and motors can be power washed and then waxed. Interiors are power washed with specialized cleansers and the vinyl on seats are thoroughly cleaned and conditioned.

Storage spaces are cleaned inside and out with all trash removed. Chrome, windshields and gauges are always polished.

“The time to clean a boat depends on the size and condition of the boat,” she says. “We also clean canopy tops for lifts, which is generally done in the fall. After cleaning, canopies are then folded, bagged and tagged with the owner’s name.”

Certified technicians are skilled and experienced to tackle a variety of maintenance issues and repairs. They are also certified through Suzuki and Mercury Marine. Shane Reffett has a bachelor’s degree in service management, and is also an accomplished welder and welding instructor. He heads up the service department.

“Storm damage is one of our specialties, Reffett says. “We would be glad to work with your insurance company to give

RBC will also come to the customer for repairs of lifts and piers. Boat motor work is only done in the shop, however.

“Rochester Boat Company has a large number of mobile units including our fleet of barges that allow for transport of small equipment for lakeside work,” Reffett says.

Their fork-style pair of elite barges allow lift and pier installation, removal and repair. The company also maintains a fully stocked van and a multitude of trailers that can go to the many different lakes in the 100-mile radius of Rochester that RBC serves.

“If possible, RBC can repair lifts and piers on site,” Reffett says.

RBC sells and services Shore Station lifts and Shore Dock piers, Lake Shore products, Ryco lifts, and Dock Deck by Trust Corporation (formerly Brock Dock). Dock Deck comes in a variety of colors.

“Rochester Boat Company is one of only four dealerships to be authorized in northern Indiana to sell Dock Deck,” Reffett says.

Rochester Boat Company is committed to providing what the lake community

needs to fully enjoy life on the water. It is a family business run by a family who grew up on the lake, and who still enjoy spending time on the water and with each other.

Shane grew up in Rochester and worked at Smitty’s Marina. He was an engineer with Navistar. Lisa grew up in California, but she often visited her grandparents and later her aunt and uncles at their house on Treasure Island. Those memories and that family bond ensure that the Reffetts care about giving other families the opportunity to have similar experiences.

Rochester Boat Company is located at 410 North State Road 25 in Rochester. For service or more information, call 574-223-2675 or email RochesterBoats@ aol.com. Visit their website at rochesterboatcompany.com, and find the company on Facebook and YouTube.

Quite a Twist

JoJo’s Pretzels is the true definition of a family business. When Owner Levi King opened the doors in Shipshewana in 1989, he knew he wanted to change the pretzel industry, and that is exactly what he did. The name comes from his wife, Joanna, better known as JoJo, who also

owns and operates the business to this day. Together, with their family, they have successfully run the most popular pretzel company in the area.

The business began inside the Davis Mercantile building and the Kings would frequently attend local fairs and festivals with their pretzel wagon. As their

reputation grew, so did the demand for more hands to help bake fresh pretzels on the daily. Fast-forward to today and you will find their children and their spouses playing a huge role in keeping things running steadily.

However, it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for JoJo’s Pretzels. In 2004 their

location inside the Davis Mercantile was destroyed by a fire. The King family did not let that stop them from continuing to pursue their dreams. With the community rallying behind them and the drive to keep going, the JoJo’s team reopened in 2006 inside the new Davis Mercantile building. When the reopening day finally came, they recall it as a moment they will never take for granted.

What kept the customers coming back, and continues to keep them coming back, is, of course, the delicious, buttery pretzels.

“The top-selling item is for sure the original pretzel with salt and butter, paired with our homemade cheddar cheese,” says Mariah Contreras, the daughter of Levi and Joanna. “And, of course, served with an ice-cold Coke.”

The famous recipe was created with their Amish roots and homegrown lifestyle at

the core. As you walk in the doors you’ll find a fun, upbeat environment full of people having a bite to eat and enjoying each other’s company. The atmosphere is friendly and loving, with tables full of smiling faces ranging in age from young to old.

The walls are lined with nostalgic signage, like the Coca-Cola Bottling Company sign. There is plenty of seating in the bright-red booths that go along with the red paint covering the walls. As soon as you walk in, you will get a whiff of the pretzels and other delicious items being freshly baked. The vibe reminds you of taking a trip down memory lane. The setting is rustic, like a ’50s diner, but also has the feeling of Amish country, with wooden beams and ceilings. Take a look around and you will find plenty of unique, old-time metal signs decorating the walls.

When you approach the counter to order, you will be greeted with giant smiles from the JoJo’s Pretzels team. If you are a regular customer, you likely know what your go-to favorite is. If not, they are glad to explain the options to you and help you make a choice.

Besides the famous butter-and-salt pretzel, you can choose from a variety of delicious pretzel flavors. Some of the fan favorites include cinnamon and sugar, parmesan, garlic, sour cream and onion, dill pickle, and whole wheat. You can buy them individually, or treat your friends and family to a half dozen or dozen. The shop has plenty of dips to pair with your pretzel like Amish peanut butter, icing, cream cheese, pizza sauce, Nutella, and cream cheese. If you are looking for a gluten-free pretzel option, they are happy to accommodate. You can also get an order of pretzel bites sprinkled with your favorite topping.

Perhaps you are hungry for more than just a pretzel. JoJo’s offers scrumptious meals as well. When browsing the menu you will find sandwiches such as the chicken-salad croissant, cranberry and pecan chicken, smoked chicken croissant, all-beef hot dog, and all-beef chili dog. They also offer daily homemade chili and the soup of the day in a cup or a bowl.

THE LAKES MAGAZINE / JUNE 2023 / TownePost.com

Don’t forget to add an ice-cold beverage to your order. JoJo’s is known for their bottled Coca-Cola, but there are plenty of others to pick from. You can order a small, medium or large drink like root beer, sweet tea, unsweet tea, Sprite, lemonade and raspberry tea. If you want to enhance it a bit, try adding a flavoring such as cherry, vanilla, green river or blue raspberry.

Once you finish your pretzel or meal you can choose from one of their delicious desserts. Some of the popular items are the vanilla ice cream, or the flavor of the month, served in a cup or cone. Their vanilla sundaes are a hit among customers and you can add toppings like chocolate, Oreos, strawberries, caramel, Reese’s and whipped cream. No matter what you choose at JoJo’s you are sure to leave satisfied and happy.

The King family has always been generous in giving back to the community with

their kindness, support and, of course, pretzels. JoJo’s is also very involved with educating students about their business and teaching them the process of hand-rolling a fresh pretzel. The company offers field trips where visitors will learn the story of JoJo’s Pretzels in a unique setting. If you are not a student but still want to learn the art of pretzel making, you can schedule a group event with sizes ranging from 10 to 30 people. For only $6 per adult, you will receive a small soft drink or coffee, pretzel, cheese dip, and the full story and experience.

The King family has served guests from all over the world and don’t have any plans to slow down. As the children begin to take on larger roles in the business, they say passing on their mom and dad’s legacy is one of the most rewarding things to see. The Kings’ daughter, Mariah, and son, Jaimeson, have big plans to officially take over the business one day.

If you are not in the Shipshewana area, you can find their second location in downtown Goshen. They offer the same delicious menu items in a smaller, yet similar, building. Next time you are looking for a quick bite to eat, make a trip to JoJo’s.

PANNING OUT

ENJOY THE MANY FLAVOR POSSIBILITIES OF HOMEMADE PIZZA

Pizza is one of the most popular foods in the world. It’s a fun and fast food, and a versatile meal in itself - breakfast, lunch, supper, and even dessert.

Let’s start with a little history on this wonderful food. In the early 1800s pizza started off as a flatbread in the poor section of Naples, Italy. Locals needed cheap food that they could eat quickly, due to their lifestyle.

So how did pizza become famous in the United States? The first licensed U.S. pizzeria opened in 1905 in New York City, at Lombardi’s in Manhattan. Up until the late 1940s, pizza

was mostly enjoyed by those of Italian heritage. However, the American GIs returning from World War II changed all of that.

Now, on to exploring a few different types of pizza.

You’ve heard of margherita pizza, yes? Well, according to legend it was named after Queen Margherita herself.

In the late 1800s the queen was visiting Naples, and Chef Raffaele Esposito and his wife wanted to create a masterpiece of a pizza for her.

Looking like the Italian flag, it was a simple yet lovely pie of tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and basil.

What about pepperoni? The fact is that Italians frown upon pepperoni, and you’ll never find it as a topping in the country. The rapid growth of

Domino’s pizza, combined with the popularity of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, firmly positioned pepperoni as a favorite pizza topping.

Thinking outside of traditional pizza, you can basically put anything on it. How about a steak and eggs pizza? Or a peanut butter, banana and bacon pizza, drizzled with honey? I even put broccoli on my

pie one night (I won’t do that again though).

Toppings are the easy part. Now let’s talk about the dough. On second thought, no - I’m not going to talk about the dough.

I’m just going to suggest that you go online to research your favorite style of crust, or go to the library and check out a

few pizza books. My family is gluten free, and I’m still searching for that perfect gluten-free crust to make. With that said, I cannot offer any suggestions or strategies when it comes to dough.

I will, however, offer a lovely cooked tomato sauce recipe that I found in “The United States of Pizza” by Craig Priebe:

• 1 tbsp. extra virgin oil

• 2 clovets garlic, minced

• ½ tsp. dried basil

• ½ tsp. dried oregano

• ¼ tsp. dried thyme

• 1 tsp. salt

• ½ tsp. freshly ground black pepper

• 1 cup pureed tomatoes (or sauce)

• 2 tbsp. tomato paste

(Don’t forget, we sell all these wonderful spices at New Kitchen Store.)

Your Maternity Oasis

Heat olive oil and garlic over medium heat for 30 seconds. Add the spices and cook for 30 more seconds, stirring continuously. Add the tomato puree and paste. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. This makes one cup, which is enough for one 14” or 16” pizza.

At New Kitchen store, we carry all your pizza needs including spices, sauces, garlic press tools, pizza peels, stone, and different elements for your pizza pan.

How about cooking your pizza in/on cast iron? We carry a fine selection of Lodge products at our store. Thinking of putting a wood-fired pizza unit in your backyard? We have the tools for that as well.

By the way, we have moved. Please come and see us at our new, bigger location at 1100 Roosevelt Road in Walkerton. Call us at 574-586-2745, and visit newkitchenstore.com.

TYLER ROAD HARNESS

A WIDE VARIETY OF ITEMS

When Mark Borkholder, owner of Tyler Road Harness, 11541 Tyler Road, Bremen, Indiana, says he has a wide variety of horse harnesses and leather goods, he isn’t kidding.

“I do get a lot of people telling me they love all of the different items that we have to offer,” Borkholder says. “I appreciate that, and I make sure they get the best items they can. I spend time with our customers to make sure we find out exactly what they want.” Borkholder has a motto he loves and adheres to.

“I tell people that we offer ‘stitching and hitching to your specifications,’” he says. “We make sure everyone that buys something from us is completely satisfied. We want to keep going in the right direction from repeat business.”

Tyler Road Harness began as a business that offered just one item but grew to offer a multitude of products.

“We started as a horse harness business

only,” Borkholder says. “We eventually decided to offer more items such as motorcycle accessories and custom and production canvas products. It was a good move.”

Borkholder says customers have commented that they like the friendly

service as well.

“I have received comments from people that have said they enjoy buying things from us,” he says. “They also like the craftsmanship of their custom-made items.”

Borkholder doesn’t stock a lot of merchandise at his business, but he does have some items available.

“I have some knife and hatchet sheaves and wallets, and things like that,” he says.

Borkholder also makes belts, saddle bags, billfolds, and gun holsters.

“I have had customers tell me they like the money clips, checkbook covers and billfolds,” he says. “Customers give me a print of the item they want or need made, and I start prototyping. I love that part of the process. People like things that are custom made, and they feel good about a belt or billfold or another item that is made just right for them.”

Working with Leather Borkholder considers himself a lucky man because he is doing something he loves, and he gets to work with different customers.

The quality of merchandise made by Tyler Road Harness has earned the shop a solid reputation, according to Borkholder.

“We get a lot of repeat business from people who appreciate what we have to offer,” he says. “I like having people recommend me to their family and friends. We also have welders who buy welding protection items from us, and customers who buy production clicks. We make aprons for welding as well.” Saddles are also a popular item.

“We do offer high quality saddles and tacks,” Borkholder says. “We can work on new and used saddles, and we are a Weaver Authorized Dealer.”

‘We also offer billets, bits and spurs, and nice blankets and pads,” Borkholder says.

“We have so many farmers in the area that we have been able to get a lot of business. They use a lot of horses, and they come to us to get the exact items they are looking for.

I love talking to them and making sure they get what they need. It’s something I really enjoy doing. It’s a great part of the job.”

Headstalls and reins are made at Tyler Road Harness, as well as leather care products and grooming and stable supplies.

“We have some people who come to us for one or a couple of items, and find out that we offer a lot more, so they end up buying

Breman Fan Borkholder says he loves living in Bremen and appreciates his neighbors.

“I like the neighborhood and the

community I live in.” he says. “There are some wonderful people in this area.”

HEALTHY GLOW

PRO GLO SKINCARE AIMS FOR BEAUTY THROUGH AND THROUGH

Pro Glo Skincare reflects Owner Chloe Boor’s passion for beauty and wellness from the inside out. After a short stint living and working in Colorado, Boor recently came home again to Indiana. She brought back up-to-date knowledge and renewed excitement. Her goal for Pro Glo Skincare is to make each client feel special, relaxed and cared for.

Boor started her career as a makeup artist, but soon trained to be an esthetician. Estheticians are skin-care therapists and facial specialists who clean, beautify and maintain the face and skin. In addition, Boor is also an educator who works at Indiana Wellness College, a nationally accredited institution that offers not only an esthetics program, but also sports and medical massage training.

“At 16 I was doing my friends’ makeup for prom and other special events,” Boor says. “When I trained to get my makeup artist license, I realized I loved it all. I opened up to the industry as a whole.”

As an alumnus, Boor became a member of the instructional staff at Summit Salon Academy in Anderson. Then, in 2021 she moved to Denver where she was a full-time educator at the Aveda Institute. She also worked in a local salon as an esthetician. Her experience there made a huge impact.

“I stumbled upon Alchemy Face Bar, and it reignited my passion for being hands-on and not just teaching,” she says. “The environment let clients’ worries fall to the side as they relaxed. I learned about different modalities and methods. It made me a better teacher. I saw the industry booming. Everyone has a different flair, focus and vision of what they want to come to fruition. I realized I could curate an experience for my clients the way I wanted.”

After returning to Indiana, Boor secured her current esthetics teaching position. She opened Pro Glo Skincare at the end of February after finding the site for her new business on Facebook. The building had formerly been used for cold storage. A few other

salon professionals were already renting spaces, including one of Boor’s former students.

“I grew up in Kokomo and really didn’t know too much about Rochester until my mom moved here eight years ago to be on the lake,” she says. “She has built a community of friends who are good people. They are so kind, welcoming, and have always supported me as my career evolved.”

The salon’s menu of services offers a full range of skin-care options,

from a basic, 30-minute cleansing facial for $45 to a $95 one-hour signature facial customized to meet specific client needs. Both include exfoliation, treatment mask and dermal layering. Chemical peels and dermaplaning are also available. Other offerings include waxing from small areas such as armpits to full body. Brazilian and bikini waxing are included.

“Clients can realize their goals for perfect brows and eyelashes,” Boor says. “I do lash tinting and lifting. The lifting is like a gentle perm for an eyelash. It molds it into a curl.”

“One of my favorite treatments is facial cupping,” she continues. “It’s a process where a small silicon device that is a skin-safe, smooth-edged suction cup glides over the face. It pulls up and almost seems to turn wrinkles inside out. It has a smoothing effect and refines the skin, giving it a glow as a result of increased circulation.”

Boor explains that facial massages are an important part of the esthetician industry. Facials have a plumping effect, and restore collagen as well as elasticity by increasing circulation. Skin cells

need oxygen to reproduce and thrive. Lymphatic drainage needs to be stimulated to eliminate puffiness and swelling.

“Skin wellness starts from the inside out at any age,” Boor says. “For younger skin that is prone to acne, people should pay attention to what they are putting into their body. Are they eating processed food or a lot of sugar? Skin is an organ and the largest one we have.”

“After COVID, there has been a shift to clean beauty,” she adds. “When people were trapped inside, there was more time to focus

on skin. The beauty industry has stepped away from glamour and more toward fresh and clean, including a holistic aspect of wellness.”

Boor shares that the most important step people can take for their skin in the summer is to find a good sunscreen specifically made for faces. Pores on the face are different in size and structure than those of the body. She cautions that sunscreen should be mineral based, not chemical based, in order to be non-comedogenic so as not to clog the pores.

“I teach three days a week and I’m in the studio two or three days a week,” Boor says. “I enjoy both. I love my students’ appreciation of beauty and the desire to connect with people. My goal as an independent esthetician is to offer genuine care that enables my clients to feel great about themselves.”

SLEEK SHINE AUTO DETAIL GOES THE EXTRA MILE

Writer / Matt Keating

Photographer / Jubilee Edgell

Adam Gray, owner of Sleek Shine Auto Detail in Knox, says he will go the extra mile to make sure your vehicle looks as good as it possibly can when he is finished detailing it.

“I tell people that I treat everyone’s car like my own.” Gray says. “I have been to auto detailing businesses where I left being very unsatisfied with the work they did. If you are spending your money to get work done on your car, you want to be able to look at it and be happy with it. I make sure my customers are happy with my work.”

Gray started the business two years ago after several people told him he was great at detailing cars. “I took that as a very big compliment and thought I might be able to do this for a living,” Gray says. “I was glad I decided to take that chance, and it has

Gray does detail work on cars, trucks, SUVs, golf carts, combines and boats, among other vehicles.

the winter, and now they are ready to get out and enjoy their motor homes, cars and boats as much as they can,” Gray says. “They want them to look as good as they can, and that’s where I come in. I’ve been busy, but that’s a nice problem to have. I just got done working on a 35-foot boat.”

Gray notes that his prices are very reasonable. “Everyone is

struggling financially these days and our prices range from $75 to $400, depending on what our customers are having detailed,” Gray says. “Our prices are very fair. Customers have told me they really appreciate that. We can do a full detail on a vehicle, inside and out, for $150. I encourage new business. Just give me a call and make an appointment.”

Gray loves being busy and working outside.

“I previously worked as a chief detective for the Starke County Police Department, and after I retired I also thought the detailing business would be great for me,” he says. “I already enjoyed the work anyway, so why not do it more and make some money as well? It’s relaxing. I also like being my own boss.”

Gray is enjoying the amount of work he has been getting. “We are really growing,” he says. “I have a couple of part-timers helping me, and I will probably be hiring some full-time people soon.”

Gray adds that he can do work on storm-damaged vehicles. “If you have scratches on your car from a storm or something else, give me a call,” he says. “I give free estimates on buffing them out. If the scratches are through the clear coat, I can’t help, but I can get out any minor scratches. I will also return the car washed and shined.”

Sleek Shine Auto Detail also does work on motorcycles.

“I really enjoy working on motorcycles and I have had a lot of people tell me they really like the work I did on their bikes,” Gray says. “I also do work on combines and have done some work for combine dealerships. I can work on pulleys and belts, which can

get very dirty. I tell people I can have those looking good too.”

Gray starts his day at 9 a.m. and works until the job is done.

“I can sometimes be done by 4 p.m., and then there are other days when I will work until late at night,” he says. “I can pick up a customer’s car, and take it back to my house and work on it while they watch TV. I have their car ready for them when they go to work in the morning.”

Gray enjoys spending time with his family and says he has made his business a family activity.

“My wife, Micheala, has been very supportive of me with the business, and my three sons really love working with me,” he says. “My oldest son, Braxton, 9, my middle son, Hunter, 9, and my youngest son, Armani, 6, all love working with me. They do a great job and really pay attention to what they are doing. I take them out for doughnuts, or also McDonald’s for lunch for their hard work. It’s a great feeling to be able to work and spend time with your family at the same time.”

COOK’S PIZZA IN WAKARUSA

REMAINS A SCRUMPTIOUS STAPLE AFTER MORE THAN 50 YEARS

There is one thing that brings people together, and it’s pizza. And, if you’re in the Wakarusa area, you likely know the name Cook’s Pizza. Located in the heart of the quaint downtown, Cook’s Pizza has been a staple in the community for over 50 years.

What started as a mere vision for brothers and owners, Stan and Steve Cook, the business has managed to continue bringing the community together since 1971. When the brothers opened their doors, they focused primarily on serving delicious homemade ice cream. As the years went on and their following grew larger, they decided to make pizza a focal point on the menu. Clearly, that was the right move as people come from near and far to enjoy one of their hot and fresh slices or a whole pie.

The vibe when you walk in the door instantly makes you feel like part of a family. The walls are covered in newspaper articles, magazine features, Northwood pride memorabilia, and even photos of celebrities and high-status

individuals who have visited. One of the most notable items displayed is a signed photograph from former President Barack Obama. As you look around you will find booths full of smiling faces, chitchatting about life and likely enjoying

a fresh cup of hot coffee. If you are by yourself, you can sit at the small counter and promptly be served by one of the friendly team members.

time and time again is the simplicity of the recipe. Everything on the pizza, from the dough to the sauce, is made fresh inhouse. You can choose from a variety of toppings such as ground beef, sausage, ham, bacon, pepperoni, fresh mushrooms, olives, pineapple and more. The wholepie options are small (10”), medium (12”) and large (14”).

As they pop your pizza into the oven you can relax and enjoy small talk with friends and strangers. Don’t be surprised if Steve and Stan make an appearance and join in on the conversation as well, as they know so many of their regular customers as friends. When asked what keeps them going every day, they say it’s the community that continues to return for their signature food and friendly vibe. They truly put pride into their dishes, and as Stan puts it, “you’re only as good as your last pizza.”

Not in the mood for pizza? No problem. Cook’s has something for everyone. Their menu is extensive, and everything is made fresh with the highest-quality ingredients. Some of the popular menu items include the Cook’s burger, tenderloin sandwich, cold-cut sub, stromboli, shrimp basket, chef salad and the chili dog, just to name a few. Don’t forget to add a side order of mozzarella sticks, fries, garlic bread

with cheese, or their homemade soup of the day. To top it all off, choose from their delicious homemade ice cream, or a dessert item like the hand-dipped shakes, banana split and root beer floats.

Cook’s Pizza is also known for their daily specials. The lunch crowd is always busy, yet Steve and Stan manage to get the food prepared quickly, making it a great option for those on a lunch break. In a hurry?

Cook’s offers carry-out for pizza and togo options for all their menu items.

Next time you’re in the area or looking for a new restaurant to try, give Cook’s Pizza a go. You’re likely to hear stories, have a great conversation and maybe even make some new friends.

A RIDE THROUGH HISTORY THE AUBURN CORD DUESENBERG AUTOMOBILE MUSEUM

The early 20th century was an exciting time for Indiana towns. The automobile was gaining popularity and carriage manufacturers were swapping their horse-drawn vehicles for those powered

by motors. This is one of the stories told in Auburn, Indiana, once home to the world headquarters for the Auburn Cord Duesenberg automobile.

Today the public can visit the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, housed in

the original art-deco factory showroom and headquarters for the company, and learn how these beautifully designed cars were ahead of their time, while taking in relics from that era including design drawings, clay models and artistic renderings of these highly collectible and expensive cars.

A brand-new car from Auburn Cord Duesenberg sold for about $7,500 in the early days. Some models offered for sale on the classic car market in recent years have sold for more than $50,000, a few for more than $2 million, and at least one for $22 million.

Walking into the showroom, which is now open to the public but was only open to dealers in its heyday, is stunning. Art-deco chandeliers, a bright and shiny terrazzo floor, and tall, formidable classic pillars reaching up to the 19’ ceiling create the vibe that fits the class and shine of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg. Period music plays and visual treats are everywhere, from the shine of the pristine automotive finishes to the display of 150 historic hood ornaments.

“Our visitors really do step into a time capsule,” says Brandon Anderson, the museum’s executive director.

The museum displays 130 vehicles at any time on three floors of museum spaces. There’s also an auto-themed gallery of artist renderings and engineering designs, the clay model studio, management offices, and the newly opened exhibit hall profiling the life of E.L. Cord, the man who rescued the Auburn Cord automobile and established the Auburn Cord Duesenberg as the world’s fastest and most groundbreaking new car design.

The museum first opened at noon on July 6, 1974. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. More than one million visitors have come to the museum in the 49 years it has been operating. More than 20 distinct exhibits are displayed throughout the building including galleries of design, fine art and archival treasures, and the gallery of the cars of Indiana, a tribute to the many automobile manufacturers throughout the state, some of which only lasted a few years and others that went on to achieve tremendous success.

One of the showpieces housed at the museum is a Cord automobile owned

by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. He stated his appreciation for the automobile in this quotation: “The proportion and lines of the Cord come nearer expressing the beauty of both science and logic than any car I have ever seen.”

Other famous owners include Clark Gable and Gary Cooper, Anderson says, as well as other Hollywood royalty and wealthy families like the Vanderbilts.

Anderson says the museum gets visitors from throughout the U.S. and from 89 countries around the world. Cars were shipped out to destinations around the globe throughout the company’s history. That history began in 1900 and ended in 1967. In those six decades, the innovations in automobile design and engineering were patented and are still featured in today’s autos. The innovations include hydraulic brakes, X-frame chassis construction, front-wheel drive and

For those who would love to claim a Duesenberg of their own but don’t have the cash to buy one on the classic-car market, the museum offers an option. The Adopt-A-Car program raises funds for the museum’s care of its collections, operations and programs. Adopters choose a vehicle to adopt for a 12-month period. Their name is displayed next to their adopted car, and this opportunity comes with other benefits. Anderson is one of the many people who have adopted their favorite car from the museum’s vast collection.

It was more than 10 years ago when PopCon co-owner Carl Doninger and a few close friends had the idea to create not just another convention, but an experience unlike any other. This experience would immerse attendees in familiar pop culture while introducing them to new, exciting experiences.

Doninger had a passion for tabletop gaming while some of his friends loved comic books and another with a passion for the show “My Little Pony.” A few just loved popular TV shows and creators on YouTube. What the group realized was every person in their life had a passion that fell under the pop culture category, but not everyone had a place to gather and celebrate that passion.

Soon, Doninger was joined by co-owner Kris Keys. “I thought it was a cool opportunity to plan an event that was a little different than other conventions out there,” Keys says.

The first PopCon was held in Indianapolis in June of 2014. Nine different pop culture genres were represented from movies and TV, to comics and anime and to eSports and tabletop gaming. Now, 10 years later, PopCon is a tradition for friends and family alike in Indianapolis and an annual trip for many people from around the world. Each year,

more than 30,000 people attend PopCon.

“Once you fall into our universe, you are welcomed and immediately feel like you are part of something bigger. Friends are made and cultivated. Annual reunions are organized,” Doninger says.

While the term ‘comic con’ is something you’ve most likely heard, PopCon is not a comic convention. You will certainly find comic books and people in cosplay--hat is part of the fun. But, you’ll also find a fully immersive world of pop culture.

“Most importantly, you’ll also find a family,” says Doninger. “I love seeing the previously oblivious parents thrilled to see their kids in their element, and then realize that they love PopCon too.”

As an attendee of PopCon, not only does the event promise a welcoming atmosphere but also the opportunity to try escape rooms, virtual reality, laser tag,

tabletop gaming and video gaming.

Celebrities that have already been announced this year include Patrick Warburton (“Rules of Engagement,” ”Seinfeld”), James Marsters (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Torchwood”) and Michelle Gomez (“Doctor Who,” “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”). Voice actors from popular anime shows like “My Hero Academia” and “Attack on Titan” will also be in attendance. The convention is a favorite among anime fans.

For parents who may not know anything about the anime that their children love, it is a place for them to bond, learn and share the excitement.

“It’s special when that parent that drove more than 12 hours to bring their child to meet someone at PopCon, realizes there are 100 other parents that did the same thing,” Doninger says.

If you’ve often thought a comic con might not be your thing, the duo invites you to come to their event where they assure you that PopCon will become “your thing.” Walk through the vendor hall full of artists and creators. Sit down and try a board game or take the young kids to the Lego display that is bigger than a basketball court.

Simply put: If you’re passionate about it, you’ll find it at PopCon.

Tickets for the 10th annual PopCon Indy happening August 25th-August 27th are on sale at popcon.us.

Fables Books Is a Welcoming Environment

Five people, connected by family and work ties, teamed up to keep the soul alive in Goshen.

Fables Books opened in 2019 in the downtown storefront that was home to Better World Books. Brad Weirich, his sister, Veronica Berkey, and Kristin Saner worked at Better World Books in the past. With the news of the bookstore closing, Weirich, Berkey and Saner, joined by Berkey’s husband, Gary, and Saner’s husband, Mark, made an offer and bought the building.

As Weirich, one of the majority owners, says, “A town without a bookstore is a town without a soul. Every town worth its salt has a bookstore.”

Berkey agrees. Bookstores, she says, are often the hub of the community, just like libraries and other community spaces. And there is a special place for a used bookstore, according to her.

That is what Fables strives to be - a community space with comfortable sitting areas, tables with puzzles and games for a parent to engage their children, and no time limits to get in the way of people who want to browse or simply hang out in an accepting and welcoming place.

Fables accepts donations of used books, which are carefully curated. A medium-size box of books earns the donor $5 off an in-store purchase.

Books that meet the standards are offered for sale. About 85% of the store’s inventory is used books, all of which have been vetted to meet condition standards and add to the sales appeal. Criteria such as author, genre and uncommon titles are used to weed out the books that come in. These are then cleaned and prepared for sale.

The Fables owners are also committed to keeping books from going to the landfill. They send their rejected books to a recycler.

The books that do make it to the sales floor are not the kind that would be found in a random thrift store, Weirich says.

Sometimes, a rare book makes its way into Weirich’s hands. He oversees the curation and acquisition of the gently loved novels and nonfiction books that come through the door. When he does encounter a rare find, it is put up for sale, often reluctantly. Each of the five partners has a specific role in the store. Berkey handles the day-to-day store operation, and the purchasing of new books and sidelines of book-related products. Saner is in

charge of marketing and events. Gary Berkey handles the finances and Mark Saner oversees the technology.

There are advantages to shopping at local bookstores. For one, the owners and staff know what they have in inventory. They are also eager to help their customers find a book.   “We can check to see if we have that title,” Saner says. “If we don’t, we can get it for them.”

From author book signings, access to community resources, and hosting book clubs and teen writer meetings to marking special events like national Independent Bookstore Day, the owners are not only curating an inventory of books, but also a loyal following. The staff knows their customers and the type of books they like to read. That is an experience that many larger, chain bookstores cannot provide.

The community can also participate in any of the four book clubs offered at the store. One of these is the silent book club, in which people read whatever they like at a set meeting time. There’s no discussion about the books or review of the books being read. It is simply a time for like-minded people to congregate and enjoy the pastime of reading, Saner says.

Customer Rose Goyette

“We want people to feel comfortable,” Weirich says. “Aisles are wide and couches are plentiful. People can be here as long as they like.”

A friendly greeting is almost always the way customers are welcomed, Berkey says. “We say, ‘Hello, glad you are here,’” she says. “Readers come in all shapes and sizes. All are welcome here.”

The laid-back atmosphere really speaks to what Berkey says is the magic of a bookstore. It is the freedom to discover what is on the shelves. “Take your time to wander and look,” she says. SHIPSHEWANA HOMES HELPS TO BRING DREAM HOMES TO LIFE

For over three decades, Shipshewana Homes has helped families near and far bring their dream home to life.

Beginning in July of 1977, the team at Shipshewana Homes had a vision to provide customers with a unique option for homebuilding. Manufactured homes are at the forefront of the

business, but their approach is quite different. Compared to other manufactured homes in the industry, Shipshewana Homes provides an alternative to stick-built homes, which simply refers to the construction of the home’s frame being built on-site with basic lumber and nails. What sets Shipshewana Homes apart from the competition is the style of manufactured homes they offer, along with the process they use to build them.

When Shipshewana Homes and JM Quality Construction joined forces in 2002, the idea of building dream homes for their customers took off. Joe Miller, founder of JM Quality Construction, is focused on combining the highest caliber of workmanship possible with customer service. This combination has made them one of the most trusted and desired residential and commercial homebuilding companies in the region.

When Miller had the opportunity to purchase Shipshewana Homes in April of 2014, he knew he wanted to focus on providing excellent customer service. Today much of their business comes from word of mouth from previous happy customers.

Shipshewana Homes utilizes a state-of-the-art engineering process in a climate-controlled environment. Unlike traditional stick-built homes that are built on-site, their modular homes are built using a unique assemblyline technique, and then shipped to the building site. Once the modular home arrives at the site, it is erected by a competent team of builders, staff and subcontractors. When the home is completed, you can tell no difference when comparing it to a typical home built on-site.

Building a modular home is an art form in itself. The design process starts with state-of-the-art computer technology. This helps customers get a vision of what their new home will look like. It also aids in providing the team and customers with drawings and a list of materials needed throughout the building process.

When it comes to the actual building process, customers’ homes are assembled in a modern factory setting. As each customer’s home goes from station to station, quality technicians and builders use their skills to bring the vision of the home to life.

One of the many benefits of this type of building process is that there are no issues due to weather, since the home is assembled indoors. Customers can rest assured that their home is quality-made, as all homes are inspected, up to code and of the highest craftsmanship.

Shipshewana Homes offers more than 800 highquality and aesthetically pleasing stick-built modular homes to choose from. They work alongside premium homebuilders including Rochester

Homes and Ritz-Craft Custom Homes. Partnering with these companies has allowed Shipshewana Homes to be a leader in the industry with fast build times, affordability and quality of service.

An additional benefit of choosing a stick-built modular home is the high efficiency. The Shipshewana Homes team prides itself on always using energy-efficient building materials and methods. From the exterior walls to the insulation to the thermopane, low-emissivity glass windows and exterior doors, customers are sure to be comfortable in their home while also saving on costs.

Shipshewana Homes keeps their official website up to date with their latest models, 3D tours, a gallery of prior home builds, financing information and an extensive FAQ section. All of this is especially helpful if you are getting familiar with the stick-built modular industry and trying to decide if this is the route you want to take. You can also visit the website, shipshewanahomes.com, to schedule a tour to see their homes in person.

If you are in the market for a new home, look no further than Shipshewana Homes.
