J.B. Blackwood strives to make sure customers can choose from a high-quality, long-lasting selection. Besides carrying a wide variety of furniture brands such as Bassett, Southern Motion, Lexington and HomeStretch, the store was one of the first in its area to carry Tempur-Pedic mattresses. JB’s Furniture has been awarded with the Tempur-Pedic company’s Elite Retailer status, and the store offers the manufacturer’s complete line of products. “We are also known for being one of the few retailers to still offer two-sided mattresses,” Blackwood says. “Logically, these mattresses last at least twice as long because you have two sides. These mattresses are made to stringent specifications by Restonic in Escanaba, Michigan.” Customer communication is a key component of JB’s Furniture. Information about brands and free delivery areas, as well as fun videos, can be found on the store’s official website. During business hours,

Parenting During COVID-19 6 Essential Tips For Parents At Home With Kiddos Writer/ Abigail Hake Photography Provided

Most of us are finding an unlimited amount of time on our hands during these fairly uncertain times. While it can be a stressful time for many of us, especially parents, we will all get through it and have memories to last a lifetime. Let’s hope that these few survival tips can cut down on stress and also bring a few more smiles into your life while we all stay safe at home.

1. Disney+ If you don’t have it, sign up now. It’s super affordable and gives you access to the entire Disney movie library, which you are going to need because the days are very, very long and screen time rules flew out the window weeks ago. Old movies are fun to share with your kids so maybe try to get them to sit down and watch Swiss Family Robinson (a personal fave yet I still can’t get my 10 / THE LAKES / MAY 2020 / TheLakesMagazine.com

child to watch the whole thing) or hunker down and watch all the Star Wars one after another or have a Marvel movie marathon.

2. Chalk Time to start hoarding sidewalk chalk. As the weather begins to show more signs of spring, more people will be out walking soon and with limited paths available during this time, why not sass up the

walkways with some art. The best thing about chalk though is that it can go so many different directions…get creative! Draw up inspiring messages, create something giant that takes over entire driveways or cul-desacs, make up extra-large game boards, or even create art galleries! The possibilities are endless and remember, adults can have

fun with chalk too. And, if you have a ton of chalk, share with your neighbors by leaving a piece on their doorstep and ask them to get in on the fun too!

3. Participate in a Challenge There are lots of social media and viral

challenges out there and while I’m not a huge tech fan, the social aspect of it has given way to some really creative things happening. Maybe do a lip sync challenge video with your entire family, try the garage door challenge (if you are needing a drink and a great laugh), or participate in the plank or push up challenge. You can even

come up with your own challenge if you are really feeling creative! Whatever you choose, make sure to nominate another family to try it after you do!

4. One-on-One Time. With us all having quite a few extra moments hanging at our homes these days, we are typically all up in each other’s business. But now is the time to make sure to carve out a little one-on-one time with your loved ones if you can. About 15 minutes here and there can go a long way. Spend it snuggling in the morning before rolling out of bed if you have early risers, playing a video game, or going on a walk. It’s also important to keep in mind that as adults you might need to find some alone time too. It feels like there are really no breaks during this crazy time, so no judgment if that is time spent hiding in the bathroom.

5. Talent Shows We all have hidden talents, like knowing the entire rap portion of TLC’s Waterfalls song or spinning a basketball on our finger for way longer than normal. Whatever your hidden talent, it’s time to let that cat out of the bag and show off your skills! Gather your immediate family and each share your talents one by one in the living room or make it a family challenge and invite other families and friends to participate in a virtual event! By utilizing the amazing social tools out there like FaceTime or Zoom, the possibilities are endless!

6. Wine Delivery You are gonna need it. Pick a local winery and you will probably be happily surprised to find out they are delivering during this time! While I don’t encourage drinking in excess, the days can be really quite emotionally draining and a cocktail hour once a week (or every day - you choose) isn’t going to hurt anyone! There are also quite a few Mexican restaurants selling their non-alcoholic margarita mix on their takeout menus now too. Who doesn’t need a Margarita Monday (or Tuesday & Wednesday too)? It’s ok, we get it. After this, we’ll all be drinking Ina Garten style, and if you don’t know what this is referring to, Google it. Remember, this is a special time we’ve been given to slow down and reconnect. Make sure to take it all in. Stay in bed a little longer, try to read that book you’ve been meaning to finish or try a new recipe you’ve been meaning to make. Whatever you do, make sure to check in on friends and family, especially those who are stuck home during this time alone. Some of you were maybe meant for these moments, but for others, this is a real challenge. Thankfully, we are able to still stay connected with technology. Whatever you do to get through this time staying safe at home, cherish it. Remember this too shall pass.

arilyn McDonald, owner of The Igloo Ice Cream Shop in Silver Lake, knows ice cream. Running an ice cream shop has been somewhat of a family business. Before she opened her shop in 2015 with her stepfather, McDonald learned that his parents owned the original Igloo Ice Cream Shop from 1959 to 1979. Reopening the shop with the same name sparked memories for people all across the area. “When we first opened and were advertising with the story about my step-grandparents, people remembered going there with their grandparents for a treat on Sunday afternoons,” McDonald says. Her grandparents are living on through her business today: the Eskimo in the shop’s logo is named Toby, after her grandfather. McDonald says that his sweet personality seemed to be the perfect name for such a sweet character. That memory is something that McDonald and her team want to bring back for past visitors, and it is a memory they want to create for the younger generations. Serving kids is one of McDonald’s favorite parts of her job. Her other favorite part is creating new, cool creations, menu items, specials and more. “I like the innovative part of it, creating something new. Every year I

“I think [the shop has] created a sense of community. That’s been the biggest benefit I didn’t realize was going to happen.” - Marilyn McDonald try to come up with something new; I try to do something new to [our menu],” McDonald says. This year is no exception. The Igloo will now be offering a variety of smoothies, frosted coffees, and bubble tea, in addition to all of its regular menu items. Its tried-and-true super-premium ice cream will be back, waiting to be made into brand new flavor combinations. Super-premium ice cream is considered to be the highest quality ice cream. It is popular because it has very low air content. The less air in the ice cream, the creamier, smoother and heavier it becomes. McDonald is proud to get her super-premium ice cream out of Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream in Madison, Wis. Beyond the traditional super-premium hand-dipped ice cream, there is also a selection of soft-serve ice cream. The Igloo offers

The Igloo offers all sorts of fruit, nuts, candy and more. You can get your ice cream in a waffle cone, a sugar cone, a wafer cone or a dish. There’s sure to be something that satisfies your sweet tooth. From a lemon blueberry crunch sundae to an apple pie sundae to a strawberry shortcake sundae, complete with a Twinkie, any dessert lover will find something to try. One of their newer, more popular items is the banana pudding avalanche. It comes with banana, vanilla wafer cookies and whipped cream. Between the creative ice cream concoctions and the familyfriendly atmosphere, The Igloo Ice Cream Shop has served as a beacon of light in Silver Lake. “It was a town that was dying. We put a great subway in on the corner, and that’s what let me do it right,” McDonald says. “So we put the ice cream shop in, and people come in and drive half an hour to 45 minutes to come get ice cream. It’s a destination spot. You can really see some growth in our town.” She credits the growth of the shop to their community involvement. schools and groups. “We have an ice cream cart that we pre-dip half pints. We take them to events, and then high school groups or social groups make a portion, and we make a portion,” she explains. “People try our ice cream and they realize we’re different. That way, we’re giving back to the schools, too, and it’s a goodwill tool.” Their fundraisers are about more than money, though. It’s about bringing people together, McDonald says. That is their main goal in everything they do. They look to serve people right down to their decorations. This year, they plan on having a Toby the Eskimo cutout for people to take pictures with. Her stepfather made ice cream cone decorations for the outside. “I think [the shop has] created a sense of community,” McDonald says. “That’s been the biggest benefit I didn’t realize was going to happen.” The Igloo Ice Cream Shop is located at 108 W Main Street in Silver Lake. CUSTOM HOME AND OFFICE BARNWOOD FURNITURE

After 13 years at that location, Shade Master Window Tint moved to its current location in Plymouth. “[Window tinting] is a skill set that I had,” Clevenger says. “When I moved up here, my wife is a dental hygienist, and no one was really doing window tint in the area. It’s a small market, but I thought I’d give it a shot.” For the first 10 years of the business, Clevenger worked alone. It made him happy, but when he found himself turning down more and more work opportunities, he realized that it was time to expand the business. He was able to call on some people he thought would be good for the job, and he started the team soon after, beginning training for his new employees. “It takes eight to nine months to train someone before I turn them loose,” he says. “They don’t become a master installer for three to four years. It takes a long time to train people.”

Today, he employs two other master installers, and he has one basic installer. With additional employees, Shade Master Window Tint was able to expand and serve a larger area geographically. Today, they do work as far south as Knoxville, Tennessee, where they recently opened a branch of their business. Otherwise, they serve from Indianapolis to as far west as Chicago and as

far north as Michigan. Not only is their service range impressive, but the services Clevenger and his team offer are sure to impress. In a rare combination, Shade Master Window Tint offers automotive, commercial and residential window tint. “It makes a more efficient home or workspace,” Clevenger says. “People here have a beautiful view of the lake, but they have to close their blinds because of the heat. The product that we put on makes it so they don’t have to do that.” The commercial window films that they can apply can stop 85% of the heat that comes through the windows. By stopping all that excess heat, people can enjoy their view of the lake in a much cooler environment. With their automotive window tint, people can reduce UV light in their headlights and taillights by 100%. It also prevents scratches

and road debris damage. Their window tint products are all from brands made in the United States. The team works to make sure that they serve the community in more ways than just the business. Each and every one of Clevenger’s employees give back through volunteer work or serving on a local board. Clevenger himself serves on the Discover Plymouth board. He tries to emphasize how important the community is to him. “I think it’s important to know that we are just completely local,” he says. “I try to hire people that live in the area. We have guys in Winamac, Plymouth, Knoxville. We really try to be a part of the community the best we can.” Their goodwill came in especially helpful when Plymouth experienced a

flood in recent years. When they saw a need in the community, Clevenger did not hesitate in opening up their office spaces to help out. “We turned our offices over to the community foundation for flood relief efforts, as well as [tried] to help alleviate some of the suffering in the area,” Clevenger says. “To me, that’s the least you can do.” For more information about their other products, you can visit them online at shademasterwindowtint. com. He was asked to design and build a patio - not just any patio, but a patio everyone would see, as the request came from Rochester Bagel and Coffee House Owner Pia Cannedy. “For the rest of my life, I’m going to be known as the one who did the bagel shop,” Hiatt says. “It has been two years and people still compliment me on the job we did.” Hiatt’s eye for hardscaping, and his drive to learn everything there is to know about the craft, has proven to be a successful combination. “Whenever I get into something, I really get into it,” he says. “I’ve done every seminar possible on hardscaping.” Hiatt has been involved in hardscaping for 13 years, and he attends at least ten seminars on the topic per year. “If I learn one thing that I can incorporate into my business, my business gets better,” he says.

For Hiatt, being a business owner isn’t just about the services provided, or the eye-catching curb appeal that enhances a home or a building - it’s also about the people his business revolves around. It’s about his wife Amy, and their infant son Shepherd Maverick. It’s about the hard-working employees he fondly refers to as his family. It’s about the loyal customers who have been with him for many years, and the new customer relationships yet to be formed. “We may not be the fastest in town, but we do quality work - we do it the right way and we take great pride in the finished result,” Hiatt says. “I feel blessed to have such a great group of employees.” Twenty-eight years of owning a business has taught Hiatt many lessons. He has enjoyed passing on his extensive knowledge to others in the business, and sharing his insight through landscaping seminars is a more recent endeavor. The seminars Hiatt has decided to offer will take place in the landscaping offseason, and will cover two topics – the business side of owning a landscaping company, and the construction aspects of landscaping. One portion of the training will cover best business practices, and how to optimize profits. Another portion will include hands-on training. Participants will learn to construct a demo patio from start to finish. Hiatt’s Landscaping continues to leave its mark on northern Indiana. The company specializes in quality, highend, outdoor living spaces, and the staff handles small jobs, large projects and all sizes in between. Hiatt’s continues to beautify and add curb appeal to homes and businesses in multiple communities throughout the area. Hiatt’s Landscaping is located at 1015 East 4th Street in Rochester. Show Mom How Much You Appreciate Her This Mother’s Day Mother’s Day will soon be upon us, and it’s time to start thinking about how to make your mom feel special on her day. Most moms in our lives deserve an award for all the amazing things they do, from cooking dinners to catching tears and giving the best hugs - but if you don’t have the time or money to erect a statue or create an award just for her, we’ve got your back with these easy and unique ways to show your appreciation. Bouquets Ok, we know a floral bouquet is not so unique, but if you take this basic idea and run with it, there are many possibilities. Find something she loves or something that makes her smile, and pull it together in bouquet form. Maybe it’s cookies, balloons or even candy. Try something a little outside of the box by creating a vintage brooch bouquet and placing it in a handmade vase that she can look at all the time (both available on Etsy. com). Some of these ideas you can find at retailers around town, and others you might have to create on your own. Either way, any unique take on a normal bouquet is sure to bring an ear-to-ear grin.

consider doing this again. Not only will she love hearing about all the things that are important to you that involve her, but this is also a surefire way to get an almost endless hug from her.

Donations Chat your mom up a little to figure out which cause might be the best fit for a donation in her name. Was she a successful businesswoman? If so, Dress for Success might be a good fit. Was she a teacher? Consider Girls Inc. Wherever you donate in her name, it’s sure to touch her heart.

Get-Togethers As we grow older, getting together with family gets harder. Many moms enjoy having the entire family around the dinner table, in the living room or on the back porch. Try to schedule a family brunch or lunch. If your family members are scattered across the country, schedule a time to gather on FaceTime for a bit to catch up with your mom, and laugh like families do when they are together.

It’s very easy these days to pull photos from social media and create magical photo memories. Shutterfly, Chatbooks and even Walgreens have easy-to-use platforms. The best part is that these last forever. Not only will your mom love looking at the photos while awaiting your next visit, but it will also allow her to relive meaningful moments over and over. something you made as a kid. Sprinkling in nods to the past really takes this to the next level.

Do Something Crazy No, this doesn’t mean do something that will get you in trouble. Simply do something with your mom that’s perhaps outside of your comfort zone, and just plain fun. Sign up for a fun 5K race - there are tons of 5K opportunities out there, and you can choose to walk or run in many of them. You might also try a city scavenger hunt or go geocaching. It might even be fun to rent your mom’s dream car and go on a road trip. Whatever crazy, fun activity you choose, make those memories and remind your mom that you love her very much. Remember to get started on your ideas with enough time to make the next Mother’s Day a memorable one. Our mothers sacrifice many things for us so that we can grow and prosper, so take the time to make them feel special. Remember that mothers are a blessing, and deserve to be showered with amazing love all year long.

Jefferson Kafe Local Eatery Offers Fresh Food and Friendly Service since the early 1900s. Back then it was a hardware store, and the place to hear the latest gossip.

Writer / Angela Cornell Photography Provided

There’s nothing quite like a small-town café. Anyone who walks through the door is met with a smile and a friendly greeting, before being shown to a table and given a menu. These small businesses offer an excellent snapshot of rural culture. Farmers, small-business owners and families all come in to enjoy good cooking and friendly service. A café can also serve as a central gathering place for a local community. Jefferson Kafe, a hidden gem in Millersburg, is all that and more especially since the three Troyer sisters, Lissa, Sharon and Kate, gave the space a new lease on life. “It was a restaurant before we bought it,” Sharon says. “It closed down for a few years before we found it and started it back up.” The building has been a centerpiece for the Millersburg community

“Our goal is to keep it a place for the community to gather and have good times at,” Kate says. “I definitely enjoy it when folks reminisce about when this building was a hardware store, and the dime store was next door.” Eventually, the hardware store became a restaurant before it was sold to the Troyer family and transformed into Jefferson Kafe. “It started with the family, kind of as a joke for us,” Sharon says. “It was kind of like, ‘Hey guys, we should start a restaurant in this building.’ Then we checked it out and we were like, ‘Hey, it’s really cute! We like it!’” The decision to open Jefferson Kafe stemmed from a long-time family love for cooking.

TheLakesMagazine.com / MAY 2020 / THE LAKES / 45

“We grew up cooking together and we loved it,” Sharon says. “We also love to serve people.” That’s not the only thing the sisters love about running the restaurant. Sharon loves working behind the scenes.

Featuring Homemade American Meals Dine-In or Carry-Out Available Serving all you can eat Pollock fish the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. Every week our Friday special is fish (cod) & popcorn shrimp with waffle fries

“I like being able to do photography and that kind of thing for advertising, through social media,” she says. “And I really love cooking.” Kate, on the other hand, is the family extrovert. “I really enjoy being a part of a small town like this,” Kate says. “When you run a diner in a small town, you really become part of the town, and I really appreciate that. My favorite part about the restaurant is being able to serve the community, and I hope everyone leaves satisfied and wanting to return.” The community has made a big difference in the Troyers’ lives, and the sisters love to give back. One of the ways they do this is by sourcing the restaurant’s food locally whenever possible. “All the bread that comes out with the dinners is from the local bakery,” Sharon says, adding that a portion of the desserts offered at the eatery also comes from the bakery.

People don’t come in just for the coffee and the good company, however. Jefferson Kafe is well known for its traditional American fare, much of which has a distinct Troyer twist to it.

“We tried to make things that we like ourselves,” Sharon says. The restaurant is especially known for its signature burger baskets, salads, pies, shakes and ice cream. “We make our own pies,” Sharon says. “We almost always have peanut butter, and every week we have a different kind. When it’s strawberry season, we’ll do that. It just varies.” The menu also includes a wide variety of breakfast items. One of the most popular choices from the morning menu is the Breakfast Haystack, which includes cheesy biscuits and gravy with eggs and

hash browns. The menu also features allergy-friendly items. Upon request, the kitchen staff can substitute gluten-free spelt bread, and the waitstaff is happy to help customers choose from allergen-free options. Sugarfree options are available as well. Jefferson Kafe is located at 112 South Jefferson Street in Millersburg. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. View the menu at Jefferson-Kafe.business.site, and reach out to them by calling 574-642-0204 or emailing JeffersonKafe@gmail.com.

FULLY CHARGED Mullet Battery Inc. Remains a One-Stop Battery Shop Nearly 35 Years Later Writer / Angela Cornell Photograph Provided

Archeologists tell us that the first battery dates from approximately 250 BC in Mesopotamia. It was a 5-inch pottery jar that contained an iron rod encased in a copper cylinder. Of course, there’s no way of knowing how exactly it was used since flashlights weren’t invented until 1898,

around which time the battery became truly reliable. Truly reliable batteries is what Mullet Battery Inc. in Goshen is all about. Since Delbert Mullet founded the company in 1986, it has been specializing in batteries of all kinds, from the tiniest hearing aid battery to industrial commercial batteries. From the very beginning, Mullet was 48 / THE LAKES / MAY 2020 / TheLakesMagazine.com

community-minded. “He saw a need for less expensive batteries and began by refurbishing batteries and selling them for a fraction of the cost of a new battery,” explains Delbert’s son, Lynn Mullet, who is the vice president and coowner. As time went on, however, the customers’

needs changed. So Delbert expanded the Mullet Battery product lines. “He began to sell new batteries as well,” Lynn says. As the business products expanded, they also added to their staff. Altogether, their staff represents 70 years of experience in the field. The staff at Mullet Battery are especially known for their expertise in car batteries. Not only do they sell a wide range of batteries for all sorts of vehicles, but they also offer battery testing and installation, and both services are free for most cars. Of course, whenever they install a new car battery, they make a point to save the memory on the car computer. As battery specialists, the Mullet Battery staff are able to give an old cordless tool a new lease on life by

rebuilding the battery pack. However, when restoring an old battery isn’t an option anymore, this business also offers a battery recycling center. Mullet Battery offers other products as well, like high-end jumper cables, battery chargers, and maintainers. Other battery accessories are also available at their storefront for commercial and personal use, such as anti-corrosive products, bulk batteries, primary wire, and welder cables. They also have commercial battery services, as well, like fleet and wholesale delivery. Mullet Battery is located at 1513 E. Lincoln Ave., Goshen. Building Hope Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County Helps to Make Dreams Happen Writer / Angela Cornell Photography Provided

For a new homeowner, opening the front door to a home for the first time is an unforgettable experience. After all, a home is meant to be a safe place, where hopes, sorrow, dreams, reality, laughter and tears all unite to make a life. For those who partner with Habitat for

Humanity of Kosciusko County (HHKC) to buy a house, the attachment to the home is even more extraordinary. The organization is a developmental charity whose leaders work to give families a secure future. More specifically, HHKC leaders help families buy simple but safe, energyefficient homes. 52 / THE LAKES / MAY 2020 / TheLakesMagazine.com

“The most exciting event is when we have the house dedication,” says Mickey Kaufman, HHKC’s executive director. “We all stand around and we talk a little bit, and we pray a little bit. Then we give them the keys and they put the key in that lock, and they unlock their house for the first time. That is so thrilling. It makes the hair stand up on your arms.” The process begins with a low-income,

hard-working family in need of housing due to a variety of circumstances that have led to financial hardship. “They come [to us] because they can’t find housing here that they can afford, or they’re living with relatives or friends and they can’t stay there anymore,” Kaufman says. First, the family fills out an extensive application for the Habitat for Humanity program, beginning with a preliminary form on the website. “That all goes to committee, who looks at all the information and compares it to our criteria,” Kaufman says. “That committee will go out and meet the family, look at their housing situation and talk to them about the process. They’ll come back with a recommendation to the board.” As soon as a family is accepted, they are

assigned a mentor who helps them through the entire process. Sometimes that mentor is someone who went through the program themselves. The mentor helps with every aspect of the program, from assisting during orientation classes and answering questions, to helping the family shop for the new home and helping with transferring children to a new school district. The mentor stays involved with the family for a year after the move. While the family starts an orientation, the organization begins fundraising and finding volunteers to build the house. “From the time they get accepted to the time they get into the house, it could be up to two years,” Kaufman says. “We have to raise the money to build the house and we have to build it, which is done by volunteers.” Each adult in a family is required to devote 250 volunteer hours toward their house or someone else’s. The family agrees to pay Habitat back for the money used to purchase the property and materials, with a zeropercent interest mortgage managed by Lake City Bank. That money goes toward helping other Habitat families. “I love [the program] because it’s so dignified,” Kaufman says. Since 1991, Habitat has built nearly 30

homes across Kosciusko County. Donations and volunteers are vital to the organization. There are two types of donors - project donors, who give to a specific family, and core donors, who give to Habitat on a monthly basis. “I had one guy say to me, ‘You know, I’d love for my boys to understand, but they’re too young to go to the worksite,’” Kaufman says. “He said, ‘Every Sunday afternoon, we watch the football game, and we always have pizza. We will give the money we spend on our pizza for one Sunday out of the month.’ That’s what we need - everyone getting involved in some way.” Volunteer opportunities aren’t limited to on-site work and family mentoring. Habitat typically needs help with locating and purchasing properties, as well as assistance with office work. The ReSale Outlet, a thrift shop with new and lightly

Owner Janet Zimmer

Local Pet Shop Offers Full Line of Supplies & Small Animals Writer / Matt Keating Photography Provided

Janet Zimmer, owner of Paws and Claws & Company in Warsaw, strives to follow the golden rule in the operation of her business.

“We really try to treat people as we would like to be treated,” Zimmer says. “Customer service is our main goal. We never push a product on someone, or try to sell someone more than they really need. We love to show new products to our customers, and hopefully they will want to try them as well.” 58 / THE LAKES / MAY 2020 / TheLakesMagazine.com

The store has grown substantially since it opened more than 35 years ago. “The business started in the back half of the old Ski Hut building as a grooming shop on Center Street here in Warsaw,” Zimmer says. “It didn’t take long [to build the business],

and customers were asking for supplies and pets.” At that point, Zimmer decided it was time to expand the store. “We rented the front half of the building and added small animals and birds,” Zimmer says. “Next, we rented the rather dingy basement and added tropical fish.” Customers kept coming back for more animals, birds and supplies. “After five years, we built the existing store on Market Street,” Zimmer says. “The community has always been very supportive, and hopefully we have returned that support over the years.” Zimmer has never regretted her decision to open Paws and Claws. “I was working at a local factory and realized that wasn’t for me,” she says. “I always had a love for animals, so this seemed like a perfect fit.” Paws and Claws has a wide variety of choices for customers. “We have a large selection of animal treats and natural chews, including many rawhide alternatives,” Zimmer says. “We also carry CBD treats to help animals with hip and joint issues. “We carry many brands of pet foods and treats, and we only sell brands that have healthy ingredients. We have food for all stages of your pet’s life, and foods that

“We have all sorts of toys including enrichment toys that stimulate your pet’s mind,” she says. “Bored dogs can be destructive, and these toys help keep them occupied.” The fish for sale at Paws and Claws have been a calming pet choice for many customers. “We sell tropical fish - right now we have them closed down - and they can be very relaxing to watch,” Zimmer says. “I prefer any of the barb fish. They are more active. We also sell lots of crickets and worms for reptiles. We have reptile supplies, as well as small-animal supplies.” Zimmer has grown to appreciate her Paws and Claws staff. “I am fortunate to have a very dedicated staff,” Zimmer says. “Two have been here for over fifty years combined. That’s hard to find anymore.” Paws and Claws & Company is located at 1801 East Market Street in Warsaw. You can give them a call at 574-267-2338 or visit them online at pawsandclawsandcompany.net.
