2.1 2.1 Reproduction 2 City X,M,L From Carry-On Slice to reflect our modern society C.O.S is a sheet component that throughout my research, design and test. Therefore, I observed a shape, a pentagon, which is often appeared around our environment. It can be seen from basic necessities of life, entertainment and so on.

Everywhere has its traces.

People can see the characters and influences of C.O.S., when it plays its strength and utility.

However, COS, it is a component that can be a large number of replication, just reflects the using habits of money, goods and building materials, those features includes reproduction, consumption, re-use, recycling. And then, there are six new shapes that derived from C.O.S. they all have a feature of copy, and can be used as building materials.

Finally, I classified the six containers by three kinds of scales, small, medium and large, and inserted those containers into Taipei city. I found some places where the most prosperous activities, highest spending power and complexity of population have. I want to reveal an unusual standpoint of consumerism to this place where is advocating extravagant and luxurious.

C.O.S.: Its full name is Carry-On Slice.

It is a square which diagonal is 100mm x 100mm and thickness is 50 mm. Wood is its main material in this design. We can replace the material such as plastic, glass, steel, etc. Size can also be changed to suit our needs.

Action art: The possibility of eating in the city: Eating can occur anywhere, the accumulation of food can occur at any time.

Interface is the beginning of the design, what is interface?

The answer is that an object transforms into another item, an event converts into another act, or an object into an act. The conversion process is a kind of interface and the human is an interface. Through my own movement and exploration, human body actually is an interface. When food comes into our mouths, through the digestion of human's organs, this action becomes a cumulative process. In fact, "eating" happens anytime and anywhere.

Moreover, postcards are flaky things that are accumulated in the mailbox by way of delivery one by one by people; Potato chips are sliced food that are cut from potato, which are assemble in a jar and eaten one by one by our mouths. In sum, these are all repetitive production process.

After consumption, the object alters to another form or behavior. However, containers which are carrying the converting action have become the ultimate purpose. Here are some containers that implied a symbol of pentagonal, like mailbox, Tetra Pak, handbags, bird house, tents and greenhouses. This symbol can be seen all the time.

Potatoes are cut up to potato flakes, potato chips are packaged into Pringles.This process between potatoes and Pringles is reassembled.

Mailbox that collects letters and postcards is a cumulative behavior.

The composition of the pentagonal actually is two squares in the view of facade. We also can say that there are a square and a diamond. Nevertheless, the Equilateral quadrilateral has become a prototype. I have to rethink this quadrilateral and attempt to use the smallest unit, C.O.S., to build an original appearance of a container which has the pentagonal symbol. This is a re-assemble procedure, we create a lot of new tools, equipment, surfaces and space from this small unit.

The production process of C.O.S.

C.O.S. exits alone, it is a hard enough and waterproof object that you can pocket, it likes a portable as a credit card. It can be considered as a coaster when it exists in bar counter, it also represents a seat and space of

C.O.S. are collected and stored in a box, due to very small size.

Reproduction City Today a large number of replication products, consumption of these things has become repeated constantly in our dairy life. As the LV bag, a deformation of the typical type of the luxurious container, that I designed, it is also a basic symbol of geometry. It lets the users can assemble and deconstruct arbitrarily, even carry.

Design In the design, I use a single module that have a quality of replication in large number,This idea inserts into six buildings, from small, medium and large. Those developed forms all contain the original symbols.

Site Strategy In order to find some area that have some characteristics with high purchasing power, reproduction, decorative, portability and super-surface, I observed Eastern Taipei, Linsen North Road, Zhongshan North Road, Tien Mu and Nanjing East Road that are represented the most popular commercial areas in Taipei. Finally, I decide to selected the most consumptive and reproductive areas -Linsen North Road, and create a new construction and using behaviors in these site.

Meditation space

Meditation space This is a meditation room, this space is placed in front of a bar, he has some features. First is serving customers, this is a waiting room, drinking wine and waiting for people who go to drink. They all can stay in the intermediate space to rest. The second is servicing bar staffs, bar staff can wait for their boss coming and think about today schedule in this area. After night working, he or she can call and wait taxi in this place because it has been almost daybreak. In this pure meditation space, users hear the bursted voice of songs and drinking game sounds that come from restaurant, they can consider whether they should linger in the environment, or go home to enjoy the warmth of family.

Design The composition materials of this space are glass and steel , the surface of internal wall covered with a static circular mirrors. It laying bright square tiles on the floor, and arrange an irregular shape of the sofa. In addition, the external walls were use glass that are shape with the same size of mirrors, and it uses a crossshaped components to lock the translucent glass, in this case, the design is a light in the dark street of night.

Temporary flower shop In this luxurious and dissipated region, we can see flower vendors who carry with two bouquets in her ha nds . Frankly speaking, there are many drinkers who spending money here and buying flowers to make up for the servers who were consumed by them, so that the flowers peddler appears. However, there is no fixed space for vendors to place her goods; she must hold her flower to sell along the street by her feet.

The temporary shop is designed to provide some functions of storage. It can be hidden in the wall during the day and night, you can open it by a very simple action, and it does not occupy too much space in the arcade. Th e most important thing is that he can change locations arbitrarily; it is a special way to decorate our streets by nume rous colors.

Design Equilateral triangle and square are the prototype of these design, this prototype is a very small unit which is a hollow pyramid shape. It is a simple and load-bearing structure. However, it can become not only the walls and roofs but also a curved surface, such as a tubular container that stores fragrant flowers.

Underpass entrance

Underpass entrance This is an underpass entrance that full of desire, and it can take you to a different place to relieve your stress. This underpass entrance is a novel street furniture which has a clear identification of vision. When you are ready to enter, the process of transforming space will remind and remove your vigilance.The material of underpass wall is build by laying hexagonal bricks which is hollow and steel. There is a large glass as the roof which is supported by some iron components. Therefore, sunlight can penetrate into the underground space. On the other hand, each hexagonal brick is a small structure and locker, and each space has its own key. When you want to go to the pub or club through the underpass, you do not have to vex with your briefcase.

Design It can be steel, concrete and wood in the material of hexagonal structures, and we can change it in diverse environments.

The composition of the hexagon are three squares which are overlapping, and each corner has a steel component to connect each other. The most special is that the structures are shaped into any form you want by stacking the units. Also, after adding a slab, its composition is formed a natural stair.

Book exchange center

Book exchange center Books are very scanty in this region because people are busy in this high consumptive area. The steps here are so quick that people can't sit down in a short while or read books and newspapers. People can switch book in this center to enhance calmness of their mind. People can meet here and discover knowledge and information if they want.

Furthermore, the book center is located in the middle of two buildings, which is narrow space; it is plugged directly into the remaining space. In fact, the book center does not require additional supports such as columns or walls because designer uses the cube as a bookcase and structure.

Elevation

Design Cube is the main component of this design, the main material is wood. There are five sizes between the biggest and the smallest, the maximum is 40x40x40 cm, and then 35x35x35, 30x30x30, 25x25x25 and minimum is 20x20x20 cm, thickness of 5cm. Hollow portion of the cubes can be stored books, this size can accommodate most types of books, and the cubes are also become chairs, signs and lamps.

Bus shelter + information corridors This is a waiting room and information exchange platform. Bus is very common transport ion in the urban, however, bus stop is just a erected pillar on the sidewalk, he can not provide a comfortable waiting experience. Thus, the space could give an integrated function for us. First, in the road side, there are a row of folding chairs and a cover that can avoid the storm and the sunshine on the top. The chairs can be folded down and close up whether there are many waiting people or not. It also is installed an electronic screen that displays the routes of moving buses. On the other hand, there is an electronic bulletin board for waiting people in the backside. They can use this free time to receive messages of advertisement, besides; the supervisor can obtain advertising revenue from this bulletin board.

Design The design are constructed by steel mainly, its roof is combined with many steel corrugated sheet that are cutting in a small square, steel corrugated sheet is a ubiquitous material that are using as a roof in Taiwan, it is very light, low price and easy to cut. Meanwhile, it is suitable for using in this ventilative environment because it doesn't need to consider heat preservation and radiation. In addition, the materials have the biggest difference that is movability. The roof is formed with many pieces of steel corrugated sheet, each one has a central axis and rotates around the axis. In the day time, the sunlight can penetrate, and in a rainy day, it can turn off in order to avoid the water coming.

Nightclub is the most representative places in this region. After working, people need a place to relax, here are endless beverage, wine and beers, there are also have loud music and exciting performance. In this moment, your soul is leaving the real world to the paradise. However, we have been imprisoned in this luxurious cage. Suddenly, looking down side, taxies are parking under our feet, and they are preparing to take us to a place, home, where we should go finally.

Design

The prototype of this building is two circular that are joint together. They are replicated a large number on the steel surface. Its thickness is very thin, the skin can form an external structure, and columns are also extended from the conjoint parts. There are four square spaces in the building, entrance lobby, reception room ,restaurant and a small performance hall. In the term of route, there is a free form handrail along the edge of platform. Facades and frame display the vitality of the building and interior space.
