Old Quay Inn This long established pub, situated at the head of Restronguet Creek in Devoran, adjacent to the coastto-coast cycle and walking trail, is enjoying a renaissance under new owners Hannah and John Calland. Chef Alex creates seriously good food weaving together the best possible local produce into an imaginative daily specials menu with a modern twist. However, still maintaining good traditional pub fare but made with the freshest ingredients and as much as possible is homemade. At the Old Quay Inn we work closely with local producers, farmers and fishermen to buy fresh, high quality Cornish produce. The team provide a warm welcome at all times of the day with food served from 12pm to 3pm and 6pm to 9pm 7 day a week.
There are well chosen wines and local beers to enjoy and the large sunny garden, ideal for al fresco that could be Devoran’s best-kept secret. Man’s best friend and families are always welcome.

A BIG THANK YOU
Following the launch of the Fal River Autumn Walking Festival last year, we wanted to build on the success of the event and make it even bigger. With the target of increasing the self-guided walks from 22 and the guided walks from 14 to 50 walks overall in 2012, we had set ourselves a tough challenge. Thanks to the help of all of our sponsors and funders, that target has not only been achieved but beaten! This year we have 26 self-guided walks and 27 guided. With such a wide selection, there will be a choice of walks for everyone with many local people sharing their knowledge of the area. Huge thanks go to The Nare, both for their title sponsorship of The Fal River Autumn Walking Festival again this year and for their enthusiasm towards walking in Cornwall. From fantastic new ideas to hosting our launch event on their beautiful Quarterdeck, their passion for this event is inspirational. We would also like to sing the praises of Paul from walkitcornwall who has helped to build the event to what it is this year. The increase in guided walks is due to his hard work and determination to include a wide range of people and organisations in leading walks. We also give thanks to all of the walking
www.falriver.co.uk/walkingfestival
guides that join the festival this year – we have fantastic guided walks due to all of you and we are delighted that you have joined our event. We are also grateful for the support of our founding partners - the National Trust, the RNLI, South West Coast Path, AONB and Falmouth BID, who have supported the idea since it was first mentioned, with both funding and ideas. Many local organisations have sponsored walks and our thanks go to you all – Helpful Holidays; Hotel Tresanton; St Anthony-in-Roseland cottages; Falmouth District Hotel Association; Bosinver Cottages; The Valley; Ar Devora Mill; Scott Woyka; Mylor Yacht Harbour Ltd; Budock Vean; The Old Quay Inn; National Maritime Museum Cornwall; The Heron Inn; The Meudon Hotel; Rick Stein’s Fish, Falmouth; Truro and Penwith College; Tilley; St. Michael’s Hotel & Spa; Bustopher’s Bar Bistro; Caerhays Estate; Castaways Wine Bar; Hawkshead; Tretop; Cornish Holiday Cottages; Penrose Outdoors; Courtyard Deli. Thank you also to everyone who has advertised or inserted a voucher. The event has been widely publicised this year and this is due to the enthusiasm of all of the local media,
in particular The West Briton, Radio Cornwall and Cornwall Today who joined us as media partners for the second year. We couldn’t reach the number of walkers that we do without them. Last but not least is the Fal River Cornwall team and their unbound positivity alongside a “can do” attitude. The idea for this festival was Toby Budd’s and I hope he is proud of what has been achieved. And as for Tommy Tonkins – every office should have a Tommy! Part of this team is Rachael Stephens who led the organisation and made up the Eventy – Marketing & PR contingent. Well done Rachael – you have delivered what is going to be a fantastic event this year and we are extremely proud of you. All of our sponsors and supporters have their logos above but our thanks also go to you – the walkers. We hope that you will enjoy the picturesque and informative walks that we have built and we would love to see your photos on Facebook and Twitter.
