Description:

Rotterdam is the second-largest city in the Netherlands and one of the largest ports in the world. During World War II, following Hitler’s bombing Rotterdam on May 14 1940, the heart of Rotterdam was almost completely destroyed. Rotterdam was gradually rebuilt from the 1950s through the 1970s. Since 1980, daring and new styles of apartments, office buildings and recreation facilities resulted in a more ‘livable’ city centre with a new skyline.

Aim:

The main aim is to regenerate the waterfront in the centre area of Rotterdan Blaak by 2016. No longer hidden behind the shops, more activities and public spaces will be added on the buildings around the canal.
