RUNBO Your Running Companion Robot development based on Segway Robot Platform Internship project 7/2016


BACKGROUND Segway Robot is a robot platform launched by Segway in 2016. Segway is seeking for development programs from all around the world. During my internship in YuanWu Art Design Company in Beijing, I participated in a program to develop robot based on the Segway Robot platform cooperative with Segway & Ninebot Group.

Segway & Ninebot will support the further development of Runbo. The scenario of segway robot running with people was added to the official website of Segway Robot after this project.

INSPIRATION

“There are nothing better than the sound and smell of mom cooking in the morning� The best experience I have ever had in the morning is waking up with the smell and sound of mom cooking. I have a strong motivation to get up because I know there is delicous food waiting for me. I feel it will be real good if our product can create such a wonderful experience for users. The users can enjoy a better morning with the smell of food and sound of cooking to wake them up. It will be a more efficient and joyful way to wake people up and drive them to breakfast.


Product Concept Wakeat Breakfast Clock

Different from traditional clock, Wakeat uses food smell and cooking sound instead of alarm sound to wake people up. The food smell and cooking sound can drive users to eat breakfast. We also have a service system to provide people with breakfast. With our product and supporting service, users will enjoy a wonderful morning experience and start a good day.

The menu is sent to cooperative sellers and the sellers get the breakfast ready in advance.

Set time and choose menu in Wakeat before sleeping.

You are the one to choose where to eat the breakfast. The seller can send it to your home or you can eat on your way to work or school.

Wakeat will wake you up with food smell and cooking sound. The smell and cooing sound match the menu you have chosen.

DEVELOPMENT WING BODY

TAIL After comparative analysis of various elements of the airplane, I chose aircraft wing as the point to show the development history of aviation.

ENGINE LANDING GEAR

The development process of aircraft wing is clear and the structure of wing is intuitive, which means it is suitable for display.


STRUCTURE The display model is composed of eight different modules. Each module shows a representative aerofoil in aviation development history. All eight modules form a wing modle which shows the aviation development history from 1903 to 1956 from a unique perspective.

Little Train Children balance bike design Product design course project 12/2016


BACKGROUND Children balance bike is a training bicycle that helps children learn balance and steering. It has no pedals and no drivetrain. This project aims to design a new balance bike, which is more interesting and brings more joy to children.

INSPIRATION

Playing with friends is always a sweet memory of childhood. I try to add some new elements to the blance bike and create a new experience for children. “Train Driving” is a popular game in children’s world. This design aims to bring such gaming experience to the balance bikes. Two or more bikes can be connected together. It can encourage children to play together and help them to learn balance as well as cooperation.



CONNECTION

1.There are three columns on front wheel hub and three holes matching the columns on the rear wheel hub. When children want to connect two bikes, they just need to insert the three columns into the holes.

BACKGROUND With the rapid development of outdoor activities all over the world, more and more people participate in these activities. Consequently, the number of people exposed in risks of outdoor activities is increasing rapidly. Rock climbing, Ice climbing and Mountaineering have been listed among the high risk sports. This project aims to give a favor through designing to those people who meet danger in outdoor activities.

It needs tools and materials to send out those signals and it may be difficult for people to do it when they are in danger.


IDEATION I try to design an efficient and convenient way of calling for help for people who meet danger in the wild with easing burden as posssible. Smoke signal is an efficient way of calling for help, which can send out SOS signal and help rescuers to locate people who meet danger.


CONCEPT I try to provide a convenient way of calling for help for people without additional burden. So I give the help function to alpenstock, which is one of the most basic equipments for outdoor activities.

SOS Alpenstock SOS Alpenstock has an extra life-save device. When the user meets danger in the wild, SOS Alpenstock can send out signals for help and assist rescuers or rescue helicopter in finding him quickly. It is useful for shortening the rescue time and guarantee the lives of explorers in the wild..

STRUCTURE

When the rescuers or sescue helicopter come close, user can screw the handle off the SOS Alpenstock and then push the switch inside. The color smoke tube will send out the colored smoke and make a sound to help rescuers locate user.

Problem Finding

How long have I watied?

When we use thermometers at home or hospital, we sometimes just forget how long we have been waiting. The whole process generally takes 5-6 minutes, which is too long to wait for but too short to aware of. During the waitng time,we have to check the clock time again and again to make sure not waiting too long. This design aims to solve this problem.


DESIGN The sandglass was made into the lid. When you use the thermometer, you just need to put it on the table to count down and you don’t have to worry about time.

Problem Finding It’s always a mess when you rush to the restroom but couldn’t find your place. How could you pick out a vacant one from those little stalls with absolutely the same appearance! It’s time for some changes. This design aims to solve this problem.

Problem Finding Traffic cones are important traffic safety facilities which are widely used in the road construction area, dangerous area, parking lot and other places. Traffic cones on the road are easy to turn over when they are under the strong wind, heavy rain or hit by cars. This design aims to solve the problem. I get inspiration from the roly-poly which will never turn over because of its structure.
