Diploma Year 1- Housing Project (2007) Site : Holland Grove Road (Singapore)

Concept : Embracing Nature

As the house is revisit of materials and senses in the design of its spaces for tropical living. The concept is to manipulate spatial relationship with nature by means of layering and transparency to allow greenery into the tropical house itself. NATURE - The manifestation of nature is seen and perceived through the effects of wind, light and sound is accentuated by carving void out of solid and creating solid in void, which is simply showcasing the crafting of space, which suggests a slowing down of pace to relax and rethink. LAYERING -The house also aims to respond to nature element with layering spatial composition in defining space while catering to rudimentary concerns of shelter and comfort.

Design Strategy To reinforce the ambiguity of the indoor-outdoor relationship , outdoor dining areas are made possible, shaded with timber trellis and with views of landscape. Outdoor terrace area engulfed with vast daylight and natural ventilation, allowing fluid movement through the house. On the second storey the cantilevered master bedroom enables the house to float over the water, while simultaneously creating a shaded outdoor dining space below.

As the apartment is represents a new form of inclusive community living for athletes. It reflects athelets’s daily life style .the concept is transition from dryness to wetness, which manipulate spatial relationship with water. The dynamic form of this building not only to capture different angles of site views and also incites the movement of the user through itself to interact with water furthermore and build up relationship with each other as well.

The New Lifestyle is what Barlow is looking for in the new building design. The solid and void spaces represent commercial space contrast with natural green space. In this spatial design, what is emphasized here is not only the approach of business environment but also this ZEN Environment , which turn the site into a hub for creating a retreat from city.

Zen Garden, Mini Golf on rooftop, etc. Concept Cadillac is branded for Luxurious lifestyle due to its stylish design and advanced technology. My concept is to use Cadillac Car brand to interpret Barlow’s Personality and his Lifestyle.

Design Strategy: Incorporate Cadillac’s logo into building develpment. Using Axis to provide linkway spaces for the site, which continue the linkway culture characteristics inherited from Melbourne city site contexts.

Link with Barlow: - Showcase a Luxurious lifestyle - Stylish design incline - Modern looking and thinking - Adventurous personality Summery of Cadillac Brand Dynamic form + high Tech Materials Crisp intersections + sharp edges
