The Trials and Tribulations Of Being A Vendor

There is always a bittersweet feeling when your agent calls you up and tells you that in the upcoming days, they will visit you with a potential client. Will this be the right buyer? Is it time to start packing? Perhaps we should clear up the house…. These are thoughts I’m sure many a vendor is used to thinking as they go about making sure their house is as presentable as possible. You make sure the floor is shiny, the garden looks good enough to be a part of Kew gardens and the kitchen sink is clear of the usual stack of “I’ll clean them later” dishes. The big day arrives and a small group of people, usually with bright smiling faces, walk through your front door and are enthusiastically shown all the rooms you usually wouldn’t want strangers walking through. Once everything is said and done, they leave just as suddenly as they arrived. You sit down and thoroughly analyse every look, word and second in the hopes of deducing whether the bright smiles were genuine or if they were just being polite. A week goes by and there is no news. This is the moment where most vendors might start to get annoyed as feedback is an essential part of learning how to better present their house. Most of the time (hopefully!) this isn’t your agent just being lazy, sometimes clients come out for a week to see 10 properties. When they get back home and slowly discard properties, they may not always remember to give each agent feedback. Maybe the agent has had 20 viewings that week and it has skipped their mind. If this is the case a polite budge via a phone call or an email will be greatly appreciated by your agent who I’m sure will get back to you asap. Drinks: Adnams - A Southwold Story

The town of Southwold is located in the county of Suffolk, on England’s east coast. The medieval towns and villages attract many visitors, throughout the year, for a short break or longer holiday.

The coastal area and the countryside have a lot of very interesting attractions, including, for anyone with a liking for an abbey or cathedral, as examples. Perhaps horseracing at Newmarket, visiting Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich (known as the County Town of

Suffolk), with its maritime history, appeals. The seaside town of Southwold, with its beach and award-winning pier, is very popular and has beach huts situated along the promenade.

Multi award-winning Adnams, founded 1872, is located in Southwold and the site is recorded as being a brewing site for several centuries prior to that. Today, Adnams beers and spirits can be found in numerous countries worldwide.

Adnams SOUTHWOLD BITTER (4.1% vol) is renowned for its wonderful copper colour. This production has many ‘regulars’, who enjoy the pleasurable beers, classed as bitter. Adnams OLD ALE (4.1% vol) was first brewed during 1890. This mild ale has an enticing dark colour, which is followed by the mouth’s pleasures. Adnams GHOST SHIP (4.5% vol) has pronounced citrus tones, for this pale ale, with inspirations gained from the old ships, used for smuggling, in the past.

Adnams KOBOLD (4.7% vol) I would class as an English lager, which is refreshing and crisp. Adnams EXPLORER (5.0% vol) has Chinook and Columbus hops, blended to great advantage, for this light and refreshing, blonde beer. Adnams BROADSIDE (6.3% vol) is a further, extremely popular, strong beer. The dark, ruby-red colour, is a most appealing introduction to the delights that follow.

Other Adnams productions include more ales and also spirits, which have become increasingly popular, over recent years. Adnams GINS, for example, are hugely popular and their award-winning, handcrafted COPPER HOUSE DRY GIN (40% vol) production has many ‘devotees’. Tours, experiences, accommodations, gifts, plus products’ information, are all listed on their website.

Take time and pleasure to locate your favourite Adnams productions, be it in a supermarket, independent drinks’ retailer, pub, restaurant or online.
