Hi, I’m Matanios (Tony), student of architecture fueled by creativity, curiosity, and (let’s be honest) coffee. I believe great design tells a story, and I’m here to help write it one blueprint at a time. a
When I’m not designing, you’ll find me exploring new perspectives sometimes quite literally through my drone, capturing the world from above. From building Lego masterpieces as a kid to real world projects today, I’m excited to keep crafting spaces and stories that inspire.z

The West End Ocean Gateway
The Southern Ports Albany project tasks architecture students with a two-part challenge focusing on the Western End Port Interface. This includes master planning for improved public connectivity between the port and Albany city, alongside designing a landmark building at Berth 1 for cruise ship visitors. Key considerations encompass community accessibility, parking solutions, income generation potential, heritage preservation, sustainable design, and integration with Albany’s urban development plans.
Suggestions from Southern Ports Albany include realigning infrastructure for operational efficiencies, repurposing existing structures like the Port Theatre, enhancing tourist facilities at Berth 1, and improving pedestrian/cycle access to cultural landmarks like Mass Rocks and the National ANZAC Centre. These elements collectively aim to enhance the cultural and economic vibrancy of Albany’s port area while respecting its historical and environmental heritage

Success in this module relied on accurately capturing the building's intricate elements in 3D and conveying its atmosphere, spatial layout, and material characteristics. The submission included a partial 2D CAD-based section and a rendered elevation. Through this project, students enhanced their skills in architectural representation, digital modeling, and rendering, gaining valuable insights into architectural design processes.

Re-Engaging With ORANI
Orani Village
The studio aims to produce buildings that belong by identifying and expressing the unique qualities of the place. The project is set in Orani, a town in Sardinia with cultural heritage but facing challenges of decay and emigration.
The site is near the Nivola Museum, nestled in a hillside with olive trees. The proposal should integrate with the museum while considering access points and landscape modifications. The goal is to foster interaction and engagement between visitors, the landscape, and Orani's culture.
The program includes various accommodations to cater to different visitor demographics, along with public functions like culinary and artistic spaces. The design should encourage coexistence and interaction, allowing afor fle xibility in how these elements relate to each other and the site.
Ultimately, the project seeks to weave a narrative that reflects the essence of Orani, addressing its challenges while celebrating its heritage and fostering engagement with both locals and visitors.
