1948 Cable TV originated in the United States in 1948. By 1952, about 14,000 subscribers were served.

1960 By 1962, almost 800 cable systems serving 850,000 subscribers were in business.Â

1970 1984 The 1984 Cable Act established a more favorable regulatory framework for the industry

2000 cable companies began pilot testing video services that could change the way people watch television

In the early 1970s, the FCC continued its restrictive policies by enacting regulations.

1992 wireless cable and the emerging direct satellite broadcast (DBS) business on the rise.

TODAY Today, cable provides video entertainment, Internet connectivity, and digital telephone service to millions of consumers
