Founded in 1987

Mission: to empower societies to responsibly and sustainably care for nature, our global biodiversity, for the well-being of humanity.

GCF focuses on protecting forests that absorb and store critical carbon by working with businesses and governments, conserving our oceans by helping countries secure and monitor their waters and working to make nature a viable and attractive investment.

They believe that corporations have responsibility not only to embrace environmentally and socially responsible business practices, but also to invest in the conservation of critical ecosystems that their businesses depend upon. To help companies minimize their environmental impacts, they created the Center for Environmental Leadership in Business in 2001. To date, they have worked collaboratively with businesses of nearly every size, from small-scale farming co-ops to the world’s largest corporations, among which 21st Century Fox, Columbia Sportswear Company, Apple, Paramount Pictures Group, Toyota Motor Corporation, United Airlines Inc. and many others.
