“I t’s an honor to be recognized by our design peers for the hard work that we do in collaboration with our clients and exceptional contractors we work with,” Josh Myers, owner and Landscape Architect, says. “It gives us the confi dence to continue to be creative and provide our clients with a high level of design and professionalism.” The awards were based on Romeo and Mary Ann Laureano’s St. Matthews front entry and garden renovation. The Laureano family wanted to bring their home to life by creating a beautiful and welcoming front entry with a classic, formal design. Boxwood hedges were layered with Hydrangea, Lilacs and a Bloodgood Japanese Maple. The project included removing and replacing the existing driveway, constructing a new front entry walkway and opening up an existing brick wall. Along the front entry, a hidden garden is revealed to delight guests as they approach the front door. Cobblestone pavers were installed for the driveway surface and a new Pennsylvania Bluestone walkway leads guests to the front door. A custom Bluestone border and circular banding were handcrafted to defi ne the hidden courtyard. Crushed gravel was introduced into the composition to transition between materials and highlight the Bluestone details.
“Our philosophy for the design process encompasses taking our client's vision and attention to detail to create a beautiful and functional outdoor space and landscape,” Josh says about his company, which primarily works on high-end residential projects in Louisville and Prospect. “Our goal for the Laureano project was to include a modest palette of materials to create an elegant and impactful outdoor space that matched the level of detail inside their home. “
Josh and his company were instrumental in turning their client’s vision into reality, according to the Laureanos. They fi rst provided Josh with various photos of their favorite garden elements, and then he created a “beautiful hardscape and landscaping, which was both balanced and elegant,” says Mary Ann. “His team was extremely capable and responsive to our requests throughout the entire process...the overall project certainly exceeded our expectations.”
The clients say the project was “transformative.” “Coming home and seeing the landscape design brings joy to the both of us each and every day,” says Mary Ann.
