from TOPS June 2024
The health of your teeth, gums, and surrounding tissues is an essential building block to your overall wellbeing and selfesteem. That s why having a good relationship with outstanding periodontal professionals like the team at Bluegrass Periodontics & Implant Dentistry is so important.
Periodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, as well as the process of replacing teeth with dental implants. Periodontists receive up to three years of additional, specialized training in treating periodontal disease and other conditions. The team at Bluegrass Periodontics is committed to doing everything they can to heal your pain, restore your health, and improve your smile.
History of the Practice
Elliot D. Neuman, DMD, MS and Whitney Neuman, RDH are the husband/wife team behind Bluegrass Periodontics. All of their parents were dental professionals, which led the couple to their careers in oral care. Both Elliot and Whitney attended the University of Kentucky for their undergraduate degrees. Elliot attended the UK College of Dentistry and did his periodontics residency there. Whitney pursued her degree in Dental Hygiene at BCTC.
Elliot joined his father s private dental practice in 2014 and became the owner in 2017. Now known as Bluegrass Periodontics, this practice has been helping central Kentucky smile brightly for over 40 years and has a trusted reputation in the area.
Elliot is passionate about helping the next generations of oral health professionals get a solid start. He helps cover the student clinic at the UK College of Dentistry and UKCD Division of Periodontology. Elliot also enjoys serving as a guest lecturer at the BCTC Dental Hygiene Clinic. I enjoy sharing my time and talent with students so that they may have a better understanding of what it is like working in periodontics and private practice, he explains.
Whitney has practiced dental hygiene since 2010. I had occasionally filled in at Bluegrass Periodontics over the years but officially joined the team last summer and helped rebrand and create a new vision for the practice, she explains. She helped guide the buildout of their new office in Hamburg, which opened in February off Sir Barton Way. The new facility boasts a beautiful waiting room, six private treatment suites, a consultation room, and a fully equipped sterilization center and lab. Sherry Feeney with Forecast Interiors helped pull the project together and finalize the finishing touches on the decor and ambiance of the new space.
Whitney took on the role of Human Resource Director and is involved in training, development, and implementation of systems and protocols to enhance patient care and overall experience. You are only as good as your team, she says, and we are very proud of the talented group of people we have assembled over the years.
The office has three Expanded Duties Dental Assistants, all specifically trained in surgical techniques, including IV and CPR certification: Kate, Surgical Assistant & Clinical Manager; Chelsea, Surgical Assistant & Compliance Manager; and Olivia, Surgical Assistant & Marketing Director. Their two front office personnel include Lauren, Treatment Coordinator & Operations Manager, and Natalie, New Patient & Hygiene Coordinator. They also have an ADAcertified emotional support dog, Toby, who is the practice s Patient Comfort Canine and the unofficial team mascot (according to him!)
Services Provided
Bluegrass Periodontics offers a wide range of services. They offer dental cleanings and routine hygiene visits, in addition to gum disease treatment. The practice specializes in gum grafting, bone grafting, extractions, implants, cosmetic crown lengthening (also known as a gummy smile correction), Teeth-in-a-Day (implant retained dentures) and other periodontal care.
Elliot offers PRF dentistry for tooth extractions, bone grafts, oral surgery, and implants. We can use platelet rich fibrin (PRF) to aid in your healing process so you can have a better experience even after you leave the office, he explains. PRF dentistry involves a blood draw to collect the platelets, which are then applied to affected tissues. This type of care can decrease surgical pain, speed healing, and improve the strength of the bones direct structural and functional connection to implants.
Next Level Care
Bluegrass Periodontics believes in setting a new standard of patient care. Beyond offering innovative treatments, they want every moment of the experience to be as comfortable as possible. That s why, in addition to friendly, professional care, they offer a number of amenities that help each patient feel their best. From neck and lumbar support pillows to blankets and eye masks, your time in the chair will be made as cozy as possible. They apply desensitizer prior to dental cleanings to make the process more comfortable. A hot steam towel will conclude what will feel like a firstclass experience! Bluegrass Periodontics is accepting new patients, and they re happy to accommodate busy schedules as much as possible. They file all insurances with the exception of Medicaid. They d love to help you feel comfortable with yoursmile.
