1984-2014

DADADA

Welcome to the 2014 Snowbee catalogue This year is a special year for Snowbee UK, as we celebrate our 30th anniversary!

Although the Snowbee brand was first established in 1978, it was April 1984 when we first opened the doors for business in the very small, fledgling company I started here in Plymouth. There have been enormous changes in the tackle industry in that time and as I reflect on the past 30 years, I consider myself fortunate to have worked in such a great industry. To work, doing the things you enjoy most – fishing and designing every new fishing product, is indeed a great way to spend your life! Over that time, undoubtedly the biggest single change has been the huge advances in material technology. Materials such as the high-tech breathable fabrics we now take for granted in our breathable waders and clothing, or the ‘state of the art’ Nano resins we use in our top-end Geo rods, really do make the tackle designer’s life a lot easier than 30 years ago! The clever part now, is to use these new technologies to ‘push the boundaries’ of what is possible, that little bit further and that’s what we do here at Snowbee. Our product design and development team are working tirelessly, to bring you ‘cutting edge’ products, to help make your fishing experience, more enjoyable… and after all, isn’t that what this whole business is all about?

to develop products ‘up to a quality and not down to a price’. This simple principle has served us well for 30 years and ensures that we continue to provide you, our customers with top quality products coupled with great value for money! To help achieve this and to fully understand the needs and requirements of modern day anglers, you will regularly find members of our team on the river bank, fishing a still water, or out at sea, on the Snowbee test boat ‘Deep Blue3’, fishing, testing and developing new gear and new ideas…and if it’s not good enough for us, it doesn’t make the catalogue. We hope you enjoy the new catalogue and we’d love to hear your feedback on it. Should you choose Snowbee products during the coming season and beyond, we are confident you will have as much fun using them, as we had designing and testing them. Tight lines from the Snowbee team!

LURE FISHING

Lure Boxes, Hooks & No-Knot Fas-Snaps 14153 Small/ Long Lure Box

14151/2/3/5 Lure Boxes 17524 Snowbee Spinner Blades Add extra attraction to any soft bait with these enticing Spinner Blades. Simply screw the blades into your bait, with the corkscrew link provided and the 30mm gold or silver blade spins and flutters, with the slightest movement, adding a new dimension to soft baits. Pack of 2; one gold and one silver.

We have all been in the situation of trying to extract ‘plugs’ from a traditional multi-box to find all the trebles have become entangled! Our lure boxes solve the problem in style. A unique ‘boat shape’ profile, allows one arm of the trebles to sit down in the ‘keel slot’ allowing the lure to sit comfortably in the ‘V’ formed by the other two arms. Simple, but highly effective. The double-sided design also features clear lids for quick identification, plus drain/ventilation

holes, so lures can be washed down after use in saltwater, left to dry in the box with adequate ventilation to prevent corrosion. In our Long models, the lure compartments run lengthways to hold longer lures or jigs. The Small-Long model will hold lures up to 195mm long & the Large-Long model, lures up to 260mm long.

Available in 4 sizes 14151 Small: 20 x 15 x 4.5cm, holds 10 lures 14152 Large: 27 x 18 x 5cm, holds 14 lures 14153 Small/Long: 20 x 15 x 4.5cm, holds 7 lures 14155 Large/Long: 27 x 18 x 5cm, holds 9 lures

14155 Large/ Long Lure Box

14154 Spinner box Our new double-sided Spinner Box is ideal for all small spinners, Mepps etc. Each side has 7 compartments, each holding spinners up to 7cm. An ideal pocket spinner box. Size: 19 x 9 x 3cm.

NKFS No-Knot Fas-Snaps These ingenious links, allow quick and easy changes of plugs or lures, without the constant need for tying knots. Nickel finished for corrosion resistance in saltwater, making them ideal for plug fishing. B.S. 40lbs. In packs of 5. See also page 96.

17523 Snowbee Corkscrew Links These ingenious links allow quick and easy attachment of soft baits, to most patterns of hook, without damaging the soft-bait. Particularly useful where a weighted, weedless hook is used, as they avoid having to pass the hook eye up through the bait, which often tears it. Pack of 10. Size: 21mm x 3mm diam. screw

Product Care and Original Purchaser Lifetime Guarantee Wader sole choice

Wader care

We produce a range of soles, each designed for a specific purpose: The Cleated sole, is most suitable for general use on sand, mud, shingle etc. The Combi-Sole incorporates a felt-sole and deep cleated heel. This is unique and the heavy-duty heel digs in on wet grass or muddy banks, whilst the felt-sole gives unsurpassed grip on rocks etc in the fastest of rivers. Trials have shown that there is no loss of grip in the river by not having a felt-heel, if unsure of your footing, you naturally transfer the weight to the balls of your feet – where you need and find the grip! For additional grip our Screw-in Studs can be added to the heels of Felt-Sole or Cleated sole waders.

All Snowbee waders are made from synthetic materials, which are not susceptible to cracking or perishing, like the old rubber waders were. The sun will however degrade synthetic materials, so it is recommended that waders are stored out of direct sunlight.

Original Purchaser Lifetime Guarantee

Fly rod breakages and rod care

For peace of mind, Snowbee Fly and Spinning Rods come with an Original Purchaser Lifetime Guarantee

Contrary to popular belief, carbon fibre rods rarely break however as a result of the natural flexing forces during fly casting. In most cases rods may break during casting but most likely when the caster ‘overloads’ the rod flex, or the graphite structure is otherwise damaged by impact or crushing etc prior to use.

Creasing, whilst unsightly, does not adversely affect the performance of waders and the best way of avoiding this is to hang the waders upside down in a Snowbee Wader Rack – see page 86. After use in saltwater, or brackish water, the waders should always be washed down with fresh water and felt soles should always be hosed off well with fresh water, after every fishing trip, to remove mud deposits. Without this, the soles will become hard, wear faster, be less effective and cause the soles to become rigid and peel off.

Whilst all Snowbee Fly and Spinning Rods are covered by our Original Purchaser Lifetime Guarantee, carbon fibre is brittle and rod breakages will inevitably occur resulting in additional cost and inconvenience for the owner.

This guarantee is limited to the Original Purchaser and is not transferable to future owners. In order to implement this guarantee, the purchase and details of the purchaser, must be registered with Snowbee (UK) Ltd., or their appointed agent, in the country of purchase, within 30 days of purchase. If, during the lifetime of the original purchaser, the rod should break or fail, for whatever reason, simply return the rod, together with a handling and postage fee of £25* and we will replace the rod or damaged/faulty part by return. If within the first 12 months from the date of purchase and if, in the opinion of Snowbee (UK) Ltd, or their appointed agent, the failure is due to manufacturing faults or material defects, then our normal manufacturers guarantee will apply and the rod or part will be replaced free of charge with the handling/postage fee of £25 returned. Snowbee (UK) Ltd., reserves the right to amend the handling/postage fee in line with inflation. Should the rod in question be discontinued, it will normally be replaced with a new model up to a similar value, or there is the option to ‘trade-up’ to a rod of a higher value, by paying the handling/postage fee, plus the difference in value between the two models.

To help avoid rod breakage, we offer the following advice: Never Lift fish out of the water with the rod – always use a net Use a fly line more than one line weight above the rod’s rating Jerk the rod or use the tip to pull flies free from rocks or trees Support the weight of the rod by the tip section Pull line through the rod tip, while holding the rod handle Walk with the rod tip facing forward Lean a rod against an open car door or boot – someone is sure to close the door on it Place a rod on the ground – someone is sure to stand on it Always Transport and store the rod in its rod tube Try to avoid rod impact damage: goldheads or any weighted flies can be travelling in excess of 80mph. Hitting the rod blank will easily cause stress fractures Applying a little candle wax to new joints can prevent them coming apart during casting

Double handed ‘Spey’ rods Spey-casting involves a circular casting motion that can cause rod joints to work loose. We strongly recommend that you tape all joints prior to use.

*£25 handling fee applies to UK only. For overseas customers, please contact the appointed Snowbee agent, or contact Snowbee (UK) Ltd., direct, for a postage quote. This guarantee is in addition to your Statutory Rights.

Alternatively, you might like to log on to our website www.snowbee.co.uk where we have a page solely dedicated to ‘Frequently Asked Questions’. The Snowbee team includes both fly and sea fishermen and experts on all product lines. They will be able to answer any query you may have. Whilst it is always a pleasure to hear from satisfied customers, we also welcome any comments, suggestions or criticism. It is only through customer feedback that we can continue to improve our product range.

To prolong the life of all Snowbee waders and clothing... Avoid contamination by grease, or any oil based fluids. These will severely reduce the integrity of the fabric. In the event of contamination rinse the garment immediately in lukewarm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.

Returns Policy

Avoid sharp objects which may cause punctures to the material.

All Snowbee products are covered by our 12 month warranty. During this period, if any manufacturing or material fault develops, the item will be replaced, or repaired (at our discretion) without question.

Waders should always be rinsed with fresh water after use, paying particular attention to felt soles on boots.

Please note however, that particularly in the case of waders and footwear, this warranty does not cover accidental damage, punctures, fair wear and tear or seam damage caused by incorrect choice of size. The Snowbee warranty does not include the commercial use of any item. In the unlikely event that a problem develops on a Snowbee product, you should first contact the retailer who supplied the goods. Should it be necessary to return the goods to us for inspection, a receipt or proof of purchase must be enclosed. We regret that we are unable to deal with any returns without such proof of purchase.

Hang waders by the boots, in a Snowbee Wader-Rack to allow drying out. See p86 for details.

Please note that under EU Health and Safety regulations, our staff are not permitted to handle dirty or wet items of clothing or footwear. To avoid disappointment, delays and additional costs, please ensure that any items returned are in a clean, dry condition.

An application of Snowbee Wader Fresh or Boot Spray will keep your waders free of unpleasant odours. See p86 for details. If you find it necessary to wash breathable clothing then a gentle non-biological detergent should be used. The garment may be re-proofed by using breathable reproofing products such as Grangers XT.

Age Restricted Product Customers are reminded that legislation prohibits the sale or hire of specific products to persons under certain ages and proof of age must always be ascertained. This includes offensive weapons and volatile/harmful substances, but does not preclude the sale of solvents for the purpose of their normal intended use.
