WELCOME FROM GOLDEN OAK LIVESTOCK
I
t’s hard to believe a year has passed since we welcomed everyone to our inaugural sale Cattle In The Snow. We were very humbled by the excitement created by last year's sale and the crowd that filled the barn. We knew that night that in 365 short days we were going to do it all again! So here we are, a year later, welcoming everyone to Cattle In The Snow, Volume II and we couldn’t be more excited to share our very best Angus and Hereford genetics with you. Our original intention with Cattle In The Snow was to first and foremost offer our very best Angus and Hereford genetics that we believe in and that we know work. Secondly, it was to host an event that people wanted to be at; have some fun to talk about in the days and months that followed. We feel we accomplished both of those and are extremely grateful to each and everyone who has supported us here at Golden Oak Livestock to date. We believe in building a herd around cow families, whether we’re purchasing cattle for our own operation or we’re selling cattle to fellow breeders and cattlemen, we know the importance of a good maternal base. You will see throughout both the Angus and the Hereford pedigrees many full sibs and maternal sibs that come from the base of our cowherd which makes it very difficult to part with them but we know they will go on to work for those that purchase them. fortunate to have the incredible mentorship and friendship of Dave and Lynne Longshore, Bar E-L Angus, and we are proud to have the Bar E-L genetic influence throughout our Angus herd and the cattle on offer. Our cattle numbers aren’t large but as always, we feel the quality of each of them speaks volumes. We believe the females on offer will go on to be foundation females that breeders can build their herds around. The bulls will add pounds and performance to any herd and sire females you will want to retain in your operation. This year we have added a couple of Hereford guest consignors and feel their contributions compliment the sale offering We sincerely appreciate the interest that has been shown toward our program and thank each and every one who toured through the cattle this summer and fall. We look forward to hosting you and invite you to join us for supper and pre-sale (and plenty of after sale) hospitality the evening of Thursday, December 14 at the farm. If we can be of any assistance please contact either of us and if you have time, stop by for a tour of the cattle prior to the sale. Tom & Lisa

Her daughter GO 113J is a beautiful two year old with a picture perfect udder who will fill 90E’s shoes when she’s gone. This year's calf will be retained in our herd. The thought of letting a cow like this go stings a lot! There have been many discussions on whether we should offer her for sale or not as we know she’s one of those cows that you don’t come across everyday. Bred April 18th to Bar E-L Warrior 16K.

BW 95 We are so excited about Hollywood’s future. Hollywood sold for $45,000 to Pine Coulee Angus and Koupal Angus at last year’s Cattle In the Snow sale. He has continued to develop into a herdsire like we knew he would. It’s rare to find a bull with so much hip and sweep to his middle while maintaining so much correctness and style throughout. Backed by a powerhouse for a mom (90E), Hollywood will have a very bright future in the Angus breed. Owned with Pine Coulee Angus and Koupal Angus.

BW 80 GO Magnolia 2D is a Harvestor out of 143K, Natural Law’s mom. GO 2D is the type of power cow that we are striving to breed at Golden Oak. She is moderate, very tanky, good uddered and has a big foot under her. Her production is only really getting started now that we have been flushing her. Her bull calves GO 333L & GO 330L are absolute studs. If you are looking to add some power and mass into your cow herd consider this opportunity.

BW 89 We are excited to have purchased part of High Country 12K from Haroldson’s last spring. High Country stands on an exceptional foot, is very sound structured and certainly expresses this when you see him in motion. This bull has a presence about him and the herd bull character he displays through his skull and front end. He’s a bull full of muscle with lots of shape and expression to his top. When you get in behind him he is big hipped and carries that shape down low with that extra stifle. He’s backed by a great cow family in his pedigree. We feel he is going to do so much for our program. Owned with Haroldson’s, AXA and Harvey Duke

We are very pleased to have the opportunity to consign to this years Cattle in the Snow sale. We are offering an exciting mating from our most proven cow family Martine 22X, she needs no introduction as all her progeny have gone across the country and produced some of the most consistent and popular calves in the production pen. On the top side we have Trademark who in his own rights is a very unique pedigree in Canada as one of the very few Marksman sons north of the border. We feel this mating will produce nothing short of the next cow family to build around with the Martine's power and depth, and Trademark's length, performance, style and structure. This mating will be one not to miss. Implanted May 27, 2023. Preg checked safe July 28, 2023 (sexed heifer calf) by Head for the Hills Veterinary. Consigned by Arthur Polled Herefords and Hebert Livestock Ventures.
