For everyone over the age of 50, living in Brixham, Paignton and Torquay...
Ageing Well Torbay
About Us The Ageing Well Torbay (AWT) programme is funded by the Big Lottery and is working to explore ways to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst people over 50 within Torbay between April 2015 and March 2021. In our first two years: The community builders have worked with over 900 isolated people in communities across the bay, building on their strengths, and encouraging the sharing of time, skills and interests with others. The Wellbeing Co-ordinators have been supporting over 500 people over 50 who are either socially isolated or lonely, to do what matters to them and live their lives, to the best of their abilities. The Circles of Support project provided allies and informal support to over 30 carers across the ‘bay, and Mencap provided support to older carers of people with learning disabilities through their ‘Growing Older Together’ project. The Mysupportbroker project has supported over 70 people to develop new Care and Support Action Plans that are focused on what is important to them, as well as what is important for them. Ageing Well Torbay is a partnership of older people and local voluntary and public sector agencies, working together. This year AWT is launching its first Innovation Fund Projects and a new financial advice service.
