Torbay News Invitation to Community and Voluntary Groups to Torbay Lottery Launch Event on 30 March 2017 Dear all We are delighted to tell you that we are launching an online Torbay Lottery, which will offer good causes like yours the opportunity to raise vital funds. Community and voluntary groups are being invited to set up their own page on the Torbay Lottery website, free of charge. Your supporters will then be able to buy tickets at £1, and 50p from every sale will go to your cause. This is substantially higher than the national lottery which gives just 28p in the pound. We’ve already done the hard work, getting the necessary licences in place and you will also be provided with free marketing materials, including posters bespoke to your organisation. The process of setting up the web page will be easy and support will be given where required. We are doing this in partnership with an External Lottery Management company who have developed the software, which means supporters can join up on all online devices, be that their pc, mobile phone or tablet. For the supporters themselves, there’s a huge incentive of a £25,000 jackpot, as well as a number of smaller prizes. There are so many worthwhile causes in Torbay and we see this as a great opportunity to support them, requiring much less time and effort from volunteers than some of the more traditional fundraising methods. All you’ll need to do is sign up and be pro-active in spreading the word to your members and encourage supporters. To find out more, meet the partner company we’re working with, please come along to our launch event at Torre Abbey, Kings Drive, Torquay, TQ2 5JE, on Thursday, 30 March 2017 at 6.00 pm. Refreshments will be provided. Parking is available at the rear of the Riviera International Conference Centre or in Sheddon Hill car park. Please can you RSVP to torbay.lottery@torbay.gov.uk by 20 March 2017. Places are limited so please nominate one main attendee and up to two reserve members who may be able to attend if we have any places left! We aim to have as many groups as possible represented at the launch to help spread the word. Please can you provide full contact details of your organisation. This information will be used for future communications in respect of the Torbay Lottery and may be shared with our External Lottery Management company (Gatherwell Ltd) who provide support in setting up the web-pages and running the Lottery on behalf of the Council. Funding News Big Lottery choose Torbay for exciting new funding scheme
£70K made available to Torbay groups in exciting new initiative where local people decide the activities National Lottery money should be spent on at Dragons Den style event. Torbay Community Development Trust have teamed up with The Big Lottery, Awards for All fund for an exciting new event called Pitch your Project, which has made up to £70,000 available to Torbay based clubs, groups and not for profit organisations, who benefit their local communities. Groups that apply for the funding will be invited to a friendly Dragons Den style event in June where they will be able to make a pitch for grant money of between £300 - £10,000. Interested organisations have from the 13th March until the 26th May to submit an Expressions of Interest form, which they can download from the Torbay Community Development Trust website. Pitch you Project is an exciting new scheme for Torbay, providing a much needed funding boost to small organisations who may be deterred from making traditional funding applications. The Dragons Den style event will also give residents the power to allocate money to causes they care about and feel make a difference to their communities. There will also be a number of high profile sponsorship opportunities for local businesses. Robin Causley, Community Funding Advisor says of the scheme:
James Harcourt, Grant Making Director for England, Big Lottery Fund, said:
“Pitch your Project is an innovative way for small groups and organisations to secure vital funding in a friendly and fun way. We understand that the process might sound daunting to some smaller groups, but I’d strongly encourage them to apply, we will be working closely with all of the applicants before the night to maximise their success”
“This scheme is a fantastic opportunity for local organisations to pitch their projects to us face to face. Thanks to National Lottery players, there is funding available which can bring a positive change to their local communities, as well as support people to overcome barriers, learn new skills and improve lives. We are really looking forward to hearing about the great work that goes on in Torbay.”
