Fort Apache has a new home!

F

ort Apache Adventure Playground, run by Play Torbay has moved to its NEW home at the Gardens and Greens project in the Torquay Academy school grounds at Gardens and Greens, Cricketfield Road, Torquay TQ2 7NU. Following our Open Day celebration at Easter, Fort Apache will reopen on Tuesday 25th July and there will be sessions in the Summer every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 10am to 2pm. The Summer sessions are part of a project across all 3 of our playgrounds called Summer HEAT (Healthy Eating Active Time). In conjunction with the police, the local school, the Gardens & Greens project, the Windmill Community Centre and local people, we have agreed to move the playground to a more secure setting and importantly run Summer HEAT. We were fortunate to secure funding for these sessions which will therefore be free of charge and will include food cooked outside, play activities, arts and crafts, forest school activities, sports and much more. Children and young people of all ages and activities are welcome to join in, as are families - no need to book. A fantastic opportunity for all! For more info, please contact Play Torbay on 01803 850157 or admin@playtorbay.org.uk www.playtorbay.org.uk

Ageing Well Torbay You may have heard of ‘Ageing Well’, a 6- year programme that aims to reduce social isolation and reconnect communities. The programme has been running for 2 years and in each area you will find a Community Builder. In Hele, Barton and Watcombe this is me, Theo. I work in many ways and am very much led by the local people that I talk to. I can work one to one with you in your own home, but you might also find me at a group or activity. I also run the Timebank, which allows people to share their time and skills with others in the area. I help people to connect with others, set up new groups, support existing groups, arrange befriending and support for people and generally help people to engage with their neighbourhood. I am always available for a chat at the Windmill Centre, Catch up Café on a Monday morning from 10-12.30. Or contact me , Theo Tanser on 07599 993987. theotanser@torbaycdt.org.uk
