No. 6 Tech looks to improve road record against New Mexico State

he No. 6 Texas Tech baseball team will end its away stretch with a midweek game in Las Cruces, New Mexico, against New Mexico State after falling short this weekend to No. 16 Oklahoma. The contest between the Red Raiders and the Aggies is set to start at 3 p.m. today at Presley Askew Field in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Tech is 25-6 overall, 4-2 in conference play and 8-3 on the road, according to Tech Athletics. The Red Raiders are coming off a loss to Oklahoma on Sunday. The Red Raiders lost the first game on Friday, 6-2, in the three-game weekend series against the Sooners, according to Tech Athletics. This also marked their first Big 12 Conference loss of the season. Tech was first to score in the first inning on Friday but could not register another run until the ninth inning.

On Monday at the Tim Cole Memorial Park, across from campus, Dan Epstein, visiting professor of political science, announced his candidacy for Texas’ 19th United States congressional district, a seat currently filled by Jodey Arrington. With his wife, friends, team and students helping him, Epstein was able to convey his running points with an audience of students, citizens and press. Epstein’s wife, Jasmine Epstein, a graduate student in the English department, opened up the floor by revealing Dan Epstein’s personal hopes and beliefs for the future of Lubbock. Jasmine Epstein said Lyndon B. Johnson served as a focal point of inspiration in forming Dan Epstein’s goals. “More than any other reason, Dan Epstein is running for Con-

As a part of the Department of Animal & Food Sciences, the Texas Tech Academic Quadrathlon Team was reinstated recently and has already begun winning competitions. The academic quadrathlon team consists of four undergraduate stu-

dents, according to the American Society of Animal Science website. In competition, these students compete over two days in four events related to animal and food science: a lab practicum, a written exam, an oral presentation and a quiz bowl.
