People encouraged to attend 4th on Broadway festivities For the 28th time, the 4th on Broadway celebration will take in Lubbock on July Fourth. Before the national holiday, the FiberMax TX Country Street Dance will take place at 7:30 p.m. today at the Lubbock County Courthouse Square. This year’s concert features Mike Ryan, Kody West and Grant Gilbert, according to the Broadway Festivals website. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased on the organization’s website. There will be two entrances to the concert, one at the Texas Avenue and Main Street intersection and one at the Texas Avenue and Broadway Street intersection.

The Fourth of July celebrations start at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday with the Yankee Doodle Dash. The race consists of a 5K and one-mile run, both of which people can register for online, according to the Broadway Festivals website. There will also be a free 100-yard dash, the Sparkler Sprint, for children ages 6 to 12. The Sonic Parade will start from Avenue M and Broadway Street at 9 a.m. The route will travel east on Broadway Street then turn left on Canyon Lake Drive. After turning right on Cesar E. Chavez Drive, the parade will end at Joyland Amusement Park. This year ’s parade

theme is “All You Need is Love.” Covenant and First Bank & Trust’s Evening concert will begin at 7 p.m., according to the Broadway Festivals website. The Reagor Dykes Mitsubishi Fireworks Extravaganza will start at approximately 9:45 to 10 p.m. The firework show will be set to music from Lubbock’s Youth Symphony Orchestras.
