4th on Broadway Annual parade draws large crowds
F
or the 26th year, Broadway Festivals’ 4th on Broadway celebration brought people of all ages together to celebrate Independence Day. The four-day event started on Friday with the First Friday Art Trail and was followed on Saturday and Sunday with street dances and concerts with performances by Turnpike Troubadours and The Dirty River Boys. On July Fourth, the day started with the annual parade that traveled down Broadway all the way to Mackenzie Park. Once at

the park, there were activities and concerts and the evening concluded with the Gandy’s Fireworks Extravaganza. According to the event’s website, their goal is to enhance the quality of life and to embrace Lubbock’s unique history. With music Texas country music, Latino music and performances from several local bands, they are able to cater to a wide variety of people and make the holiday enjoyable for everyone in attendance.
