OFFENSE DISCUSSES REPEATED ISSUES By ARIANA HERNANDEZ

exas Tech’s offense started off slow against Oklahoma State on Saturday in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Red Raiders made some gains in the second half of the game as they attempted to push ahead of the Cowboys, but they were unsuccessful and trailed Oklahoma State by one in the final score, 45-44. Tech had 518 yards of total offense on Saturday and was flagged only three times for 15 yards. Toward the beginning of the game, Tech took a while to warm up and had several back-to-back three-andouts, which is unlike the offensively dominant team, junior wide receiver Cameron Batson said. “We played an OK game,” Batson said. “Three three-and-outs in the beginning of the game. That obviously hurt, something that this offense is not used to. We had some mistakes in there, but overall we played a good game. We kept fighting all the way up until the end. We just didn’t get it done.”

Growing up in Lubbock is a different experience for different people. For Terry Allen, he found inspiration for many of his works growing up in Lubbock and West Texas. Allen, a songwriter and artist, has experimented with different

mediums of art throughout his 50-year career. According to his website, Allen has used sculpture, paintings, songs and different theater performances to convey his artistic vision. Growing up in Lubbock, Allen said, helped give his art a unique voice. The geography and the flatland horizon contribute to that unique musical voice.

Allen said this sound addresses an attitude and climate that is unique to Texas and unique to the time period. Allen did not notice the effect Lubbock had on his sound. It was not conscious but was a combination of where he lived and the people he was around, Allen said
