TMOTHY 2 3.1-12
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a
knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
JOHN
6.22-32
The next day the crowd that had stayed on the opposite shore of the lake realized that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not entered it with his disciples, but that they had gone away alone. Then some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus.
When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
Jesusanswered,“Thework ofGodis this:to believe intheonehehassent.”
So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’
Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is notMoses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.

FEAST OF ST. SARKIS THE WARRIOR, HIS SON MARDIROS AND HIS FOURTEEN SOLDIERS/COMPANIONS
This year on february 4th, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the feast of St. Sarkis the Warrior, his son Mardiros and his fourteen soldiers/ companions. Even though St. Sarkis was of Greek descent, he is one of the most venerated and loved saints of Armenian church. He lived in the 4th century and served in the Roman army during the reign of the Emperor Constantine. St. Sarkis was well respected by the Emperor and his court and was appointed to govern in Cappadocia.
When in 361 Julian the Apostate came to the power, he was determined to revive paganism and Christians were severely persecuted. To avoid the prosecutions St. Sarkis, found refuge in Armenia with his son Mardiros. Later St. Sarkis moved to Persia and served in the army of King Shabur as a commander. As a result of his preachings, many of Sarkis’s soldiers become Christian. But others accused Sarkis in rebelling against the Persian ruler by preaching the Christian faith. King Shabur called Sarkis and asked him to offer a sacrifice to the pagan gods. Sarkis refused, for which the angry mob attacked and killed his son Mardiros. St. Sarkis was arrested and later beheaded. 14 of his loyal soldiers took his body for burial, but they were martyred as well for their devotion to Christian faith.
It is believed, that St. Mesrob Mashtots brought the relics of St. Sarkis from Assyria to Ushi, Armenia. In the place, where his relics rest a
monastery bearing his name was built. The feast of St. Sarkis is a movable feast, which is celebrated 2 weeks’ prior the Great Lent. It followes by the Fast of Catechumens.
-There are some folk customs associated with the feast of St. Sarkis.
-On the eve of the feast young people used to eat salty bread before going to bed, hoping to dream of their future groom or bride.
-Some people place a plate full of flour outside, hoping to see the imprint of the hoof of the saint's horse in the morning. According to legend, St. Sarkis flies over the houses with angels, and if the imprint of his horse's hooves is left on the flour, it is considered as a sign of prosperity.
-It was restricted to do laundry, to spin a spindle, work with wool or wash hair. On St. Sarkis' feast day, people in love give each other sweets and cards.
THE FEAST OF ST. SARKIS AS A BLESSING DAY OF YOUTH
By the order of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of all Armenians, the Feast day of St. Sarkis is proclaimed as the day of youth. On St. Sarkis's feast day, a special Liturgy is held in all churches named after him and the youth receive a special blessing.
