ՊՕՂՈՍ ԱՌԱՔԵԱԼԻ ԿՈՂՄԷ ԹԵՍԱՂՈՆԻԿԵՑԻՆԵՐՈՒՆ ԳՐՈՒԱԾ ԱՌԱՋԻՆ ՆԱՄԱԿԷՆ 4:1-11 Ուրեմն, եղբայրնե՛ր, կը թախանձենք ձեզի ու կը յորդորենք ձեզ Տէր Յիսուսով, որպէսզի՝ ինչպէս ընդունեցիք մեզմէ թէ ի՛նչպէս պէտք է ընթանաք եւ հաճեցնէք Աստուած՝ ա՛լ աւելի ճոխանաք անոր մէջ, քանի որ գիտէք թէ ի՛նչ պատուէրներ տուինք ձեզի՝ Տէր Յիսուսով: Որովհետեւ Աստուծոյ կամքը՝ ձեր սրբացումն է, որ ետ կենաք պոռնկութենէ, ու ձեզմէ իւրաքանչիւրը գիտնայ իր անօթին տիրանալ սրբութեամբ եւ պատիւով. ո՛չ թէ ցանկութեան կիրքով, ինչպէս հեթանոսները՝ որ չեն ճանչնար Աստուած: Ո՛չ մէկը թող չափազանցէ այդ բանին՝՝ մէջ ու կեղեքէ իր եղբայրը, քանի որ Տէրը վրէժխընդիր է այդ բոլորին համար, ինչպէս մենք ալ նախապէս ըսինք ձեզի եւ վկայեցինք. որովհետեւ Աստուած կանչեց մեզ ո՛չ թէ անմաքրութեան, հապա՝ սրբութեան: Ուստի ա՛ն որ կ՚անարգէ՝ կ՚անարգէ ո՛չ թէ մարդ մը, հապա Աստուած՝ որ իր Սուրբ Հոգին ալ տուաւ մեզի: Իսկ եղբայրսիրութեան մասին պէտք չունիք որ գրեմ ձեզի, որովհետեւ դուք արդէն Աստուծմէ սորված էք սիրել զիրար, եւ արդարեւ ատիկա կ՚ընէք ամբողջ Մակեդոնիայի մէջ եղող բոլոր եղբայրներուն հանդէպ: Սակայն կ՚աղաչե՛նք ձեզի, եղբայրնե՛ր, որ ա՛լ աւելի ճոխանաք, ու պատի՛ւ համարէք հանդարտ կենալ, ձեր գործերով զբաղիլ եւ ձեր ձեռքերով աշխատիլ, (ինչպէս պատուիրեցինք ձեզի,) որպէսզի դուրսիններուն հետ վարուիք վայելչութեամբ ու ո՛չ մէկ բանի՝՝ պէտք ունենաք:

ՂՈՒԿԱՍԻ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԷՆ 13:1-9 Այդ ատեն ներկայ եղողներէն ոմանք պատմեցին անոր այն Գալիլեացիներուն մասին, որոնց արիւնը Պիղատոս խառնեց իրենց զոհերուն հետ: Յիսուս պատասխանեց անոնց. «Կը կարծէ՞ք թէ այդ Գալիլեացիները աւելի մեղաւոր էին բոլոր Գալիլեացիներէն, քանի որ այսպիսի չարչարանքներ կրեցին: Կ՚ըսեմ ձեզի՝ ո՛չ: Հապա եթէ չապաշխարէք, բոլորդ ալ նոյնպէս պիտի կորսուիք: Կամ թէ այն տասնութ հոգիները, որոնց վրայ Սելովամի աշտարակը ինկաւ եւ սպաննեց զանոնք, կը կարծէ՞ք թէ անոնք Երուսաղէմ բնակող բոլոր մարդոցմէ աւելի յանցաւոր էին: Կ՚ըսեմ ձեզի՝ ո՛չ: Հապա եթէ չապաշխարէք, բոլորդ ալ նմանապէս պիտի կորսուիք»: Սա՛ առակն ալ ըսաւ. «Մէկը իր այգիին մէջ ունէր տնկուած թզենի մը. եկաւ պտուղ փնտռելու անոր վրայ, բայց չգըտաւ: Ուստի ըսաւ այգեպանին. “Ահա՛ երեք տարի է, որ կու գամ՝ պտուղ կը փնտռեմ այդ թզենիին վրայ, ու չեմ գտներ. ա՛լ կտրէ՛ զայն, ինչո՞ւ խափանէ գետինը”: Ան ալ պատասխանեց անոր. “Տէ՛ր, ա՛յս տարի ալ ձգէ զայն, մինչեւ որ բրեմ անոր շուրջը ու թրիք դնեմ: Եթէ պտուղ տայ՝ լա՛ւ. այլապէս՝ յետագայի՛ն կտրէ զայն”»: 1ST THESSALONIANS 4:1-11 As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or 4
sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit. Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
LUKE 13:1-9 Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were guiltier than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.” Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’ “‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’”

Փոքր Ասիոյ Լիկիա գաւառին Բաթարա քաղաքը՝(ներկայիս Անթալիա) մեծահարուստ եւ բարեպաշտ ընտանիքի մը մէջ: Մանուկ հասակէն կը կորսնցնէ ծնողքը եւ կը մեծնայ իր մօրեղբօր՝ Նիկողայոս Երէց եպիսկոպոսի խնամակալութեան տակ: Իր ողջ կեանքը կը նուիրէ աղքատները, հիւանդները, բանտարկեալներն ու որբերը խնամելուն: Ճշմարտօրէն ու անմընացորդ նուիրումով կը հետեւի մեր Տէր Յիսուս Քրիստոսի ուսուցմունքներուն՝ նոյնիսկ կը վաճառէ իր ծնողքներէն իրեն մնացած ողջ հարստութիւնը ու դրամը, եւ կը բաժնէ բոլոր կարիքաւոր-ներուն: Մեծ յարգանք կը 6
վայելէ ժողովուրդին մէջ եւ շուտով Ս. Նիկողայոսը կ'ըն-տըրուի որպէս Զմիւռնիոյ ե-պիսկոպոս: 325 թ. կը մասնակցի Նիկիոյ Տիեզերական ժողովին: Կը մահանայ 326թ. եւ կը դառնայ ընդհանրական Եկեղեցւոյ ամենասիրուած սուրբերէն մին, որ այսօր առաւելաբար յայտնի է Santa Claus անունով: Ս. ԳՐԻԳՈՐ ՍՔԱՆՉԵԼԱԳՈՐԾԸ ծնած է 210 թ. Պոնտոսի (Սեբաստիա) Նէոկեսարիա քաղաք՝ ազնըւական ընտանիքի մը մէջ: Գրիգորը կը պատրաստուի մասնագիտանալ օրէնսգիտութեան եւ հռետորութեան մէջ, սակայն Աստւած անոր եւ իր եղբօր համար նախասահմանած էր ուրիշ ապագայ: Աշակերտած է այն ժամանակուայ ամենահեղինակաւոր քրիստոնեայ մտաւորականներէն Որոգինեսին: 240 թ. Նէոկեսարիա վերադառնալով` Գրիգոր կը ձեռնադրուի քաղաքի եպիսկոպոս: Աւանդութեան համաձայն, Ս. Գրիգոր եպիսկոպոս ձեռնադրուելու օրերուն Նէոկեսարիոյ մէջ հազիւ 17 քրիստոնեայ կար, իսկ մահուան օրերուն՝ ընդամէնը 17 հեթանոս: Իր անուան հետ կապուած բազմաթիւ հրաշքներու համար արժանացած է «Սքանչելագործ» անւանը: Վախճանած է 270 թ. խաղաղ մահուամբ: Համաձայն Գրիգոր Նիւսացիին՝ Ս. Գրիգոր Սքանչելագործը, մեծ խոնարհութենէ դրդուած, կամեցած է թաղուիլ օտար տեղ մը, որպէսզի չմնայ իր անուան յիշատակը: ՄԻՒՌՈՆ ԵՊԻՍԿՈՊՈՍԸ ծնած է Կրետէ կղզին, Յունաստան, պատուական եւ մեծահարուստ ընտանիքի մը մէջ: Իր ստացուածքը առատապէս կը բաշխէ չքաւորներուն եւ կարօտեալներուն: Ան աղօթքով, բազմաթիւ հրաշքներ կը կատարէ եւ կը ճանչցուի որպէս հրաշագործ: Միւռոն եպիսկոպոս կը ձեռնադրուի Կրետէի եպիսկոպոս քրիստոնեաներու հալածանքներու ժամանակ, կը քաջալերէ եւ կը խրախուսէ բոլորը հաստատ մնալու քիստոնէական հաւատքին մէջ՝ ինքը եւս անհամբեր սպասելով նահատակութեան պսակը ստանալուն: Բայց Աստուծոյ խաղաղութեամբ կը վախճանի, մօտաւորապէս հարիւր տարեկանին մէջ:

STS. NICHOLAS THE WONDERWORKER, GREGORY THE WONDERWORKER, AND MYRON On December 5th the Armenian Church commemorates Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, St. Gregory the Wonderworker and the Bishop Myron. St. Nicolas The Wonderworker was a fourth-century Bishop of Myra, Lycia in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey) and a defender of orthodoxy. St. Nicholas is also called “the wonderworker.” He was also known as a secret gift-giver and is believed to be the model for modern day Santa Claus. The holy father Nicholas was archbishop of Myra and the son of a pious couple, Epiphanius and Nooneh. He was ordained bishop by his uncle and is said to have participated in the Council of Nicea (325 AD). Because of the special care shown to children, he is considered the protector of children. When his parents died, Nicholas was left a considerable inheritance. He could have lived a life of leisure and pleasure. But he heard the call of Christ and gave his wealth to the poor and needy.He is known as the liberator of shipwrecked souls and called the “wonderworker.” St. Nicholas died of natural causes in the fourth century and a few centuries later his relics were trans¬ferred to the Italian city Bari, where a large cathedral is dedicated to him. He was truly a teacher of abstinence. (“Soorbk yev Donk” (Saints and Feast Days) by Patriarch Torkom Kooshagian). Saint Gregory the Wonderworker, Bishop of Neocaesarea, was born in the city of Neocaesarea (northern Asia Minor) to a well to do family. To further their studies in lawmaking and rhetoric, St. Gregory and his brother went to Alexandria, the center for pagan and Christian learning of the time. Here they met the famous Christian scholar Origen, who became his mentor. Later St. Gregory converted to Christianity. In 240 he returned to Neocaesaria and is appointed as the Bishop. By his saintly life, his effective preaching, working of miracles and graced guiding of his flock, the saint steadily increased the number of converts to Christ. According to tradition, when St Gregory became a Bishop, there were only seventeen Christians in Neocaesarea. At his death, only seventeen pagans remained in the city. 8
Saint Myron, Bishop of Crete, a wonderworker, in his youth was a family man, and worked as a farmer. He was known for his goodness, and assisted everyone who turned to him for help. St. Myron was ordained to the priesthood in his native city of Raucia, and afterwards people chose him as the Bishop of Crete. St Myron received from the Lord the gift of wonderworking. St Myron lived till the age of 100. ԳԻՏԷԻ՞Ր ԹԷ, Հայ ժողովրդական սովորութիւն դարձած է Յիսնակի շրջանին Յիսնակի ծաղկեպսակ պատրաստելը: Պսակը կը զարդարուի մշտադալար ճիւղերով, որու վրայ կը շարուին 7 մանիշակագոյն ու 1 ճերմակ մոմեր: Մանիշակագոյն մոմերը կը շարուին պսակի շուրջբոլորը, իսկ ճերմակը, որ չափով աւելի մէծ կ'ըլլայ, կը դրուի պսակի մէջտեղը: Յիսնակի առաջին շաբաթէն սկսեալ, 7 շաբաթներու ընթացքին իւրաքանչիւր շաբթուայ Կիրակնամուտին շարականներու եւ աղօթքներու ուղեկցութեամբ նոր մոմ մը կը վառուի: Մանիշակագոյն 7 մոմերը վառելը կը խորհրդանշի մահացու 7 մեղքերէ մաքրուիլը: Իսկ Ճերմակ մոմը կը խորհրդանշէ մեր Տէր եւ Փրկիչ Յիսուս Քրիստոսի սուրբ եւ անարատ Ծնունդը: DID YOU KNOW? The traditional Advent wreath is made of evergreen brunches formed into a circle, that symbolizes the eternal nature of God. 7 purple candles are places on this horizontal wreath and 1 large white candle is put in the middle. In the Western Advent Tradition, they have four candles instead of 7, one for each Sunday before Christmas; but since the Armenian Church has seven weeks of Advent, therefore 7 purple candles are placed. The burning of 7 candles means cleansing from the 7 deadly sins. The color purple is a symbol of royalty, and the colour white symbolizes purity and virtue. On the eve of each Sunday, accompanied with prayers and singing of hymns another candle is lit until they have all been lit on the last Sunday before the Feast of the Nativity. The white candle in the centre of the wreath represents the Christ Himself and this is lit on Christmas Eve. This is a fine custom, especially for children, as it helps them to mark the passing of the Nativity Fast. ֍ 9

Dear faithful, As of Monday, November 23, 2020, according to the announcement of the Province of Ontario, Toronto has moved to Grey Zone - Lockdown. This means the attendance inside the church is restricted to 10 people, including priests, deacons and staff. The Sunday Divine Liturgies and Wednesday evening prayer services will take place behind closed doors. We encourage you to follow the live-stream of the services on Facebook/TorontoArmenianChurch Baptisms, weddings and funerals will continue to take place at the church with a maximum of 10 people in the entire building. The current situation will be in effect for the next 28 days.
