1.Social – One of the best things about joining a team is the “family” that comes with it. Sharing your time with likeminded people is incredibly refreshing and also opens your eyes and mind to different cultures and backgrounds. Very few experiences in life bring people together like sport does!
2. Teamwork – On a team, everyone has a role, as if we are all cogs in a machine and we must fulfil our responsibility to allow others to excel at theirs. This is not limited to being a player; a coach, or staff member will also have the same responsibilities to the team and enjoy the euphoria. Being part of something greater than ourselves is incredibly rewarding.
3. Fun – In simplest form, if you are not having fun, what is the point of doing it? You can have a ball on the pitch and off. There is nothing like being able to laugh with your friends whilst doing something that you all love.
4. Growth – There is something so unique to sport that allows a person to be whomever they want to be and sometimes become someone they never even knew they could become. Sport is a tool of empowerment for many, with a huge result of boosting confidence.
5.Health and wellbeing (mental and physical) – A combination of all of the above, leads us to one of the most important points. Exercise can have a profound effect on anxiety, depression, and relieving stress, whilst helping us to sleep better and boost our overall mood. Your teammates can become your support group who want to assist in any way possible. The “family” you’ve joined will help you to create everlasting memories.
