Greetings Hello Division 27! Summer is slowly coming to a close and the school year will slowly start to creep in! You know what that means— Key Club member recruitment season is also on its way! To prepare for this upcoming school year, be sure you do all that you can to convince others to join. I’m sure you can all agree that being involved with KCI has provided incredible opportunities for growth, friendships, and service. During the month of August, there are a few ways that YOU can get involved! First, on August 12, 2013 will be our annual Seattle Area Rally! Officers— make sure you’re there to get some last minute training before the school year begins! Also on August 25th is the Seattle Sounders game against the Portland Timbers. It’s Dempsey’s first game, and it’s SOLD OUT, but Key Club holds some extra tickets. Get them fast because they’re selling like hotcakes. Plus, you’ll be able to help out the Eliminate Project. I hope to see you all at many of our events, including our DCM on the 28th.

With love and service,

Ashley Yoo

Youth Opportunities Fund: The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International Foundation. This fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. The fund also provides academic scholarships for higher education. The Youth Opportunities Fund is established through a portion of your Key Club International dues and through the purchase of G. Harold Martin Fellowships. YOF grants can help you take action. Look around and identify the things that need to get done in your school, community or world. Find the application on : http://keyclub.org/service/fund/yof.aspx

Membership Recruitment The school year is right around the corner and a crucial part of making the club successful are the members and their readieness to participate! The beginning of the school year is often hectic as everyone is rushing to get settled in and get used to the new teachers and schedule. However, that’s when you should also take advantage of people’s interest in trying something new! A few basic steps: 1.Establish goals for this next year 2.Advertise your club 3.Plan an informational meeting 4.Use outside sources (keyclub.org) 5.Find an accessible spot 6. Personally invite students to join!
